Using sliders like this one can be useful when modelling multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 to demonstrate that all the digits move the same amount of place value columns, to show how the value of each digit changes and to examine the purpose of a place holder.

I've now made a PDF document of the first 100 #dailymathspuzzle questions (with answers!) to make them easier to use. Huge thank you to the people who have bought a book for my school- very much appreciated! #edutwitter

These won't be to everyone's tastes, but I've been experimenting with writing frames to help structure planning. As someone who likes things to be really clear and ordered, I like how these help to organise thinking in a fairly visual way.

Here are copies of the 2016- 2023 maths SATs papers that I have completed badly to show lots of misconceptions and common mistakes. They might be useful over the next few weeks if you're in year 6! Importantly, they are not ALL wrong.

Every now and then, we get a marketing package from CGP with a free sample book and a catalogue. Today the package contained 3 Curly Wurly bars. They definitely know how to get out attention!

Here's a set of arithmetic resources adapted from my Y6 set to now be suitable for Y5, including 49 tests and QLAs. I'm not necessarily suggesting weekly testing in year 5, but I've found them to be useful as gap analysis or for interventions. Enjoy!

I had a quick time-saving idea today which I can't believe I hadn't done already- one PowerPoint with slides of things that I regularly use on the interactive whiteboard , such as a place value grid, squares, lines and handwriting lines. #edutwitter

I've now uploaded a PDF with all my #dailymathspuzzle questions so far, including the answers! I've been using them with a Y6 intervention group in the run-up to SATs, and they've been really useful for discussing problem solving methods. #edutwitter
