Yesterday Samuel Whitbread celebrated our Year 11 and Sixth Form students with year group photos. The sun was shining and we are pleased to have this annual tradition return.
Today should have been a day of celebrations to say goodbye to our fantastic Year 11s. Sadly, we were unable to do this, but we have kept the biggest leavers tradition of them all... Here is a little ‘remote’ something for Year 11, from all of us at SWA:

We would like to congratulate our outgoing Year 13 students on their A Level and BTEC results yesterday. Despite all the uncertainties and changes the year group faced, they handled it with incredible maturity and we are very proud of all their efforts.
We're encouraging our students to draw colourful, cheerful pictures to decorate walls of wards at the new NHS Nightingale hospital in London. All drawings must be A4 - details on where to send to follow!

Samuel Whitbread Academy, Robert Bloomfield and Shefford Lower School held a Remembrance Service to honour those who have served and are serving. The service was live streamed across all three schools for students and staff to watch, reaching nearly 3000 community members.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Sir Samuel Whitbread following his recent passing. He was a steadfast supporter of our school, participating in numerous achievement evenings and awarding the Sir Samuel Whitbread House Cup. He will be deeply missed.
The head boy and deputy head boy visited the rededication service at Shefford Memorial. Where they laid our poppy wreath to remember and pay tribute to those who have served.

Last week we had the pleasure of handing out Ambassador Awards to Year 11 students they should have received in their final assembly, but as it didn't happen, we hand delivered them! Congratulations to everyone who received an award!

Last weekend Mrs Richards ran the London Marathon and she raised £1463 for St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger!

Today was the last day for our Year 11s. After their exam this morning, students watched their leavers assembly in their tutor groups, before setting off on study leave. It has been a pleasure to teach and support such a wonderful year group.

Yesterday over 800 Year 10 and 11 pupils watched a live streaming of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It’s a story of forgiveness, love and ultimately hope, fitting for this year. We wish all those in our community a safe Christmas break.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this difficult time.
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.
