Obviously been a pretty horrendous year, both personally and for many, so this post is largely irrelevant other than the wonderful Mary Steven's Hospice will benefit from a hearty donation thanks to the
@RacingPost
- apologies for the trumpet blowing
The toughest of days having to say goodbye to this legend who died this morning at the grand age of 97. We spent hours together at Molineux, New Rd and Edgbaston and I couldn't have asked for a better grandfather, RIP Pop X
In extreme circumstances, it's surely wise to recognise that people's safety and a horse's well being is a little more important than a race meeting going ahead

Disgraceful that Govt ministers are appearing on the BBC but not ITV’s morning news show at such a critical time & the BBC is now using it as a marketing tool.
Are our viewers not as important
@grantshapps
?
Huge thank you to
@AP_McCoy
and
@DarrenBirdie
who have combined to produce this superb commemoration of the champ's last Cheltenham winner. Race card to be auctioned for the

and the Lyla Rose Foundation, could be a great Christmas present, bids and RTs welcomed pls, many thx
That second goal for

yesterday would never have happened on Nuno's watch, especially late in his tenure - no chance both centre mids would have been anywhere near the opposition box at the same time
Nev, can you refrain from describing The New One as a horse that empties punters' pockets?
He has won 16 of his 20 races when he has been favourite - can't think of another horse in training that delivers as often as him when the market expects

Two tennis players who went at it for six and a half hours last week in 30 degree heat lugged two bags off court themselves and stood signing autographs and having selfies 🤔
Could have taken literally 30 seconds out of his day to make these kids day at the open a bit more special. What a great role model Tiger Woods is for golf..
@DickinsonTimes
Two things which would instantly improve football, refs wearing a mic and a clock in the stadium which can be stopped at the referee’s request, would stop an awful lot of time wasting and would end the ridiculous ‘time added on’ calculation which is often wholly inaccurate
Terribly sad news this evening that Pat Smullen has passed away. Nine times champion jockey and an inspirational figure in racing and Irish society. May he rest in peace. Our thoughts are with Frances and their children Hannah, Paddy & Sarah.
Dreadful to read the news of Cyrille Regis' passing this morning. A magnificent player, a proper gentleman and a rarity that he was revered and admired by supporters of all clubs
Sad to hear the news of John McCririck's passing - one of the few recognisable faces in racing and a major influence in promoting our sport within the public domain. Thoughts with the long-suffering Jenny
Christmas, a time for families, a time to remember those loved ones not with us anymore, a time to think of those less fortunate than ourselves . . . and a time to clean the bathroom to within an inch of its life according to Mrs T 🙄

Really enjoyed catching up with one of the betting ring's largest (no pun intended) characters in Gary Wiltshire - the man who bounced back from losing 1.4million on one September afternoon at Ascot 24 years ago
Always admired Bob Willis and the way he never made that Headingley ‘81 test all about himself, enjoyed listening to his irascible views in the comms box and on the Debate too, one of my first autographs too 😔 go well RGD
Danny Murphy when Spurs have a chance; "Why hasn't Conte gone to a flat back four earlier, what was he waiting for?"
Minutes later Boro then run riot; "Spurs are all at sea now they've gone to a back four"
Just 60 runners declared for the pinnacle of the AW season at Newcastle (only four 8+ fields) whereas 260+ are balloted out at Bath with just two of the seven races catering for 0-70 horses and above.
We are in a race to the bottom
Very, very fortunate to work with some brilliant people
@RacingTV
but it was terrific to see
@LydiaHislop
recognised for her outstanding contribution/work today at HWPA awards. Nice win for
@captheath
too and a superb job hosting
@CorneliusRacing
Very sad to hear the news about Jonathan's passing. His outstanding knowledge was only matched by his sense of humour. Sharp as a tack, he didn't miss anything and you invariably learned plenty, either working alongside him or watching him. RIP JN.
Shocked and stunned to see this heartbreaking news. Keagan was a lovely lad, his passion for riding was obvious to all & it was wonderful to see his progress in the saddle with the winners he rode a testament to his hard work and ability. He had a smashing cover drive too. RIP x
Really don't give a flying f*** if Steve McManaman loves or hates
#wwfc
but, having watched Saturday's game back, his biased, one-eyed commentary on btsport becomes really tedious and tiresome by the second half
Many have concerns about the Post not having a print version in 12 months, they won't have an online version if it continues to perform as badly as it currently is
Dreadful news to wake up to that Terry Hall has left us. A brilliant singer songwriter, frontman and composer of some of this country’s most iconic songs, tracks which formed the soundtrack of many people’s lives, very sad
My energy company just offered me a fixed price deal of £7,844.96 for 12 months, £7,844.96 for 12 months worth of gas and electricity.
No I’m not kidding. I’m still bloody hyperventilating.
@MartinSLewis
Magnificent to see Corach Rambler with
