I was rejected from a programming bootcamp so I learned to code on my own. Then I was rejected from 50+ dev jobs until I found the awesome folks at
@Firebase
. Now I get to help developers everywhere use
@GCPcloud
ML.

I made a little doodle to help you determine when to use ML, and when to use a SQL query or IF statement instead. It's just a draft, so let me know what you think!
I'm co-authoring an
@OReillyMedia
book on ML with my teammates
@lak_gcp
and Mike Munn! 🧠✨
Want a sneak peak? The first 4 chapters are available on O'Reilly's Safari platform ⬇️
👩🏻💻 I've got a codelab for you! Learn how to:
1⃣ Build regression models using tf.keras and sklearn
2⃣ Deploy them to
@GCPcloud
3⃣ Compare the models with the What-if Tool
Enjoy 🎉
I used to be terrified of raising my hand in class so I'd write down word for word what I was going to say the night before and force myself to participate.
I caught up with an old professor today and apparently she thought I was super outgoing.
Fake it til you make it, kids.
I was just thinking it would be cool if you could do hyperparameter tuning directly in Keras and then found this
@TensorFlow
blog post published yesterday 🤯
The best part? I got it working in 5 minutes!
thank u, Next.
AI Platform taught me love 🧠
Training models on CPUs taught me patience ⏳
Doing live demos taught me pain 😬
In all seriousness, I had a great time meeting lots of devs and data scientists at
#GoogleNext19
👩🏻💻🎉
This is mostly a ML baking account now, so I'm gonna share some behind the scenes info on how I used machine learning for recipe development!
Thread 🧵⬇️
My dad reminded me that I have been doing live demos on computers for longer than I can remember 😮
Here's me demoing a game to former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey 👩🏻💻
I got promoted to Mom! Watching our little guy who I grew for 9 months explore the world is the best little miracle 🥰
Also, birth is wild. Women's bodies are amazing.
I could build our wedding website in like 5 minutes with one of those static site generators or I could roll my own, containerize it, deploy it with Cloud Run, and serve it with Firebase Hosting.
Which option will I choose? 😅
I guess the last decade was pretty cool:
🎓 Graduated college
🌉 Moved to SF without knowing anyone
👩🏻💻 Taught myself to code
🔥 Joined a startup
🏃🏻♀️ Ran three half marathons
🥂 Got promoted twice
😬 Presented to rooms with scary numbers of people
♥️💍 Met my best friend
I managed to squeeze containers, ML, big data, and umbrellas into a single blog post 😬☔️🧠
Check it out to learn about hyperparameter tuning on
@GCPcloud
with custom containers!
Want to learn how to do all the things in Vertex AI? I've got more tutorials for you!

Explainable AI on

is the real deal 🚀
I had lots of fun building this keynote demo and can't wait to hear what you think of AI Explanations! Start here ⬇️
Six years at
@Google
has *flown* by, this time with fewer airplanes.
Throwback to my 5 year post from last year. For year 6 I'll add one more thing:
🙅🏻♀️ Saying no to new opportunities is just as important as saying yes, but much harder.
🧠📦 Wish your ML models were less of a black box? You can now use the What-if Tool to evaluate models deployed on
@GCPcloud
🎉
@bengiswex
and I show you how -->
Pre-COVID,
#Google
cafes experimented with using
#AI
to come up with the perfect chocolate chip cookie. Now Googler Sara Robinson has collaborated with
@MarsGlobal
to create the Maltesers AI Cake.
I started a new job at
@Google
working on hardware/software codesign this week. I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome! My own Noogler hat is on the way, thanks to
@SRobTweets
for loaning me hers for this photo 😀
🎬💄🙅🏻♀️ Today I filmed a video and decided to do something crazy and not wear any makeup.
There's so much pressure on women to look "perfect" all the time. But honestly, it's kinda tiring. The real me comes with blemishes and I'm 💯 ok with that.
Today developers can start building with our first version of Gemini Pro through Google AI Studio at .
Developers have a free quota and access to a full range of features including function calling, embeddings, semantic retrieval, custom knowledge
Before you leave a comment on someone's technical talk / video / blog post / etc, ask yourself:
Does what I'm about to say offer positive or constructive feedback on the **technical content** discussed here?
If the answer is no, maybe reconsider 🤔
Has anyone encountered an ML application for removing "ums" from audio?
I've been doing a lot of this recently, so maybe I should build it if it doesn't exist 🤔
Discovered that back in 1967 when there were way more women in computing
@Cosmopolitan
ran a feature called "The Computer Girls."
They should do this again 😀
👋 Hi ML Twitter!
If you're building custom text classification models, I'm interested in learning more about your approach: which framework, whether you're using bag of words or embeddings, etc.
Reply or DM if you'd like to share 📑🧠
It's a day that ends in y so I guess people are arguing about whether you need a CS degree to be an engineer.
I don't have a CS degree and I'm doing alright.
Plus, the world would be a very boring place if everyone had the same CS education. We need diverse perspectives.
Little known fact about AutoML: it has an API for all the functionality the UI provides.
I used it to make a little app for crowdsourcing labeled training data for your model ↓
I recorded a talk today and the production team told me I was good at public speaking and asked if I had studied it.
Still recovering from the shock of this very kind comment because I used to be noticeably terrible at public speaking. I guess practice works!
