On Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, SLOPD will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the 500 block of Higuera. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

Just before 1pm, a single car collided with a house near the corner of Islay and Osos Streets. DUI is not suspected, the cause of the crash is under investigation. The driver was treated for minor injuries and the passenger was not injured.

On 8/30/24, we hosted a motorcycle training day down at the Allan Hancock Academy. This training included range & a variety of driving skills instruction. Thanks to Santa Clara PD, Morro Bay PD, Pismo Beach PD, Santa Maria PD and Santa Barbara Co. Sheriff's Office for attending!

Just after 10pm on Wednesday night, we received a report of a fire on the 600 block of Chorro, on the shoulder of the northbound 101. @slocityfd quickly knocked down the flames, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
