After the heartbreak and plenty of tears were shed, on our bus trip back from Herscher last night the group of seniors decided they wanted to hang out one last time at our field. They ordered some pizzas and we all played 9 holes of fungo golf together. This group was special!

Lucky Horseshoes pitcher Matt Cruise was hit in the head by a line drive while pitching on Thursday Night. Matt was transported to Memorial Health. He is alert and in stable condition, surrounded by family, coaches, and teammates. We will provide updates as they become available.

It was an Illinois Valley and Tri-County Conference sweep of the MVP awards with St. Bede’s Nathan Husser awarded MVP by the Blue Team and Seneca’s Casey Clennon from the Red Team.

Paxton Giertz and Aidan Vilcek combine to throw a no hitter against Woodland. Paxton had 10 Ks in 5 innings to get the win. Aidan closed the door throwing the last 2 innings to earn the save. Bats struggled today but did enough to scratch a few runs. Team improves to 2-1.

Huge 1-0 win today over Marquette! Matt Cruise started on the bump and Paxton Giertz finished it off. They combined to throw 7 one hit shutout innings with 17 Ks! Offense did just enough to scratch a run in the bottom of the 6th. Team is now 9-2 and 6-1 in conference.

Just a real well played baseball game all around by both teams! Unfortunately, we came up short against a really good U-High team. Took the lead in the 3rd but U-High battled back to take the lead in the bottom of the 4th. We loaded the bases in the 7th to give us a shot.

We battled and went toe to toe with the best in the state! Had a couple chances but came up short. Paxton Giertz threw a solid 6 innings while Calvin Maierhofer added 2 hits on offense. Irish finish the season 18-9. We will miss our seniors and look to build off this season

Won a pitchers duel today against Roanoke-Benson 2-1. Matt Cruise was fantastic on the mound for us! He went the distance and had 11 Ks with no earned runs! We found a way to scratch a run in the top of the 7th to get the lead. Record now 12-5 and 9-3 in conference.

Roanoke punched us right in the mouth to start off the game. Capping a 3 run first inning with a 3 run homer. Luckily our bats were alive today and we took the lead right away in the bottom of the 1st behind a 3 run homer by Austin Aldridge. Tough one at Coal City tomorrow.
