A point guard has to be a leader. You have to come in every day like it’s the greatest day you've ever had. Nobody can know you’re down. You need to be even-keeled and consistent. And you have to distribute the ball and guard the best player on the other team. Not easy to do.
I have a lot of respect for players that are trying to do things the right way and working to be successful. Stick with it. Don’t get discouraged because good things are coming your way.
Great day. I talked to some really good people. I love the connections I am able to make through basketball. The class of 2023 is absolutely loaded.

College basketball is different. Guards have to be efficient with the dribble and learn how to navigate in tight spaces. Make the simple, winning play. I watch some of these workout clips and it’s not the game. It’s not preparing you for the next level.
Deshaun Jackson 6’2 PG 2024 - Newport HS (KY) preparing for a huge July with
@wildcatselect
D1 caliber PG that can get in the paint and makes good decisions. Elite defender and distributor of the ball, but can also score it when he needs to.
Basketball is a team sport. It’s about building people, learning how to coexist with others, teaching guys how to deal with adversity. It’s not about individuals being great on their own. It can’t be all about you all the time.
Peter Kramer is a winner and a great teammate. Made solid contributions and winning plays opening weekend at 3SSB. Carries a 4.5 GPA and would be a valuable addition to an Ivy or Patriot League school. He will be in College Station, TX this weekend with
@wildcatselect
I would like welcome Josh Duda to the Wildcat Select 3SSB coaching staff. I’ve had the privilege to know Josh for eight years. He was a standout player at Bethel Park HS and St. Vincent College. His knowledge and experience will be great for our guys.
@jduda03
@wildcatselect
Trying to maximize who you are and make the people around you better should be what life is about. The expectation is you come prepared to work everyday for what you want.
If you never push the boundaries of what you think you’re capable of you’ll never get any better. Believe in yourself and that’s all you need. Good luck to everyone in the July LIVE period.
Big day for basketball players in the class of 2024. First day colleges can contact them and the beginning of the recruiting process. Best wishes for the guys that have been grinding.
Great opening weekend with
@wildcatselect
17u. We have a good group and it should be a lot of fun. I appreciate all our guys and our fantastic support staff. Thank you!
All you can rely on is the relationships you create over time. If you give someone your word or make a promise you better be able to back it up. That’s what I’ve tried to do. If I tell you I’m going to do something I do it. Hopefully that’s good enough.
Sam Springer (St. Ignatius) 6’7 2024 is a perfect fit as a stretch 4 in the Ivy, AE, Colonial, MAAC, NEC, Patriot League. He has worked hard to expand his game and improve his body and mobility. He plays his ass off and impacts winning in multiple ways. Give him a look!
A great coach meets you where you are, and helps you get to where you want to be.
A great coach teaches you how to work, shows you how to be disciplined, and helps you understand what it takes to win.
A great coach gives you confidence so you can reach your full potential.
Ian Ioppolo (

It takes what it takes—you can't speed up the process, and you can't slow it down. But if you remain humble, stay patient, and continue to work, you will be successful. What is delayed is not denied.
Big team win this morning for
@wildcatselect
15u over Lu Dort 57-45.
Rutgers, Notre Dame, Creighton, Michigan State, Butler, Arizona, Ohio, West Virginia, Illinois State, and Kent State all in attendance. ///
Greatness is the realization of one’s potential, so it’s important to have goals. It’s important to be disciplined in your work. Goals change all the time and that’s ok. But always be looking forward to something - have something in front of your eyes at all times.
I want to give a special thanks to
@tdroney_wildcat
and
@nateperry_pgh
for giving me the opportunity to coach in their program.
To our guys: Stay dedicated to what you’re doing. You can’t speed up the process, but if you stay patient and keep working you will be successful.
What’s supposed to happen will happen in due time. Sometimes our plan has detours, but that doesn’t mean our road has to end it just means we have to take another path.
You show up on time.
You stay organized.
You clean up after yourself.
You respect the people you work with.
You do the best you can.
Do that and you’ll be successful in whatever you do.
I can remember when
@JMaxwell_15
was our ball-boy. Now he’s living out his own dreams. Really great to see. Good luck in the state finals!! Bring it home man!!
You have to be willing to serve other ppl. It can’t be all about you. How do you pray? Do you pray to be blessed or do you pray to be a blessing? Someone else has to bless you but you can be a blessing to everyone you meet by the positive attitude and energy you bring.
When you’re a member of a team, it’s important to operate in a space where there’s a healthy fear. Understanding that there’s consequences for not performing at a level that’s expected creates accountability. People who hold themselves accountable are the highest achievers.
I will be attending the Ballin Under 1 Roof event July 8-10 at the Louisville Convention Center. If you will be there send me your schedule.

Finish the drill. Finish the game the right way. Finish your assignments.
It’s a mindset. It’s a habit you create. It’s not about what you want. It’s about what you’re willing to do to get it.
Don’t get discouraged with a set back. Get your mind right and FINISH!
One of the toughest, most competitive players I’ve ever been around
@masonshrout5
. Has shown the ability to fill up the stat sheet against great competition. We’re lucky to have him with
@wildcatselect
Another great practice weekend for
@wildcatselect
17u 3SSB. I appreciate the sacrifices everyone is making for this team and all the support we get. Special thanks to our dedicated assistant coaches.
I will be attending the OHSBCA Midwest LIVE - June 24-26 at Cedar Point Sports Center. Really looking forward to this event and I can’t wait to see everyone play.
IMO
@ianballer40
is one of the most underrated and under appreciated prospects in the 2024 class. 6’7 and can do everything. Tough, competitive, and a winner. Plays for a great program too at Mentor High School.
Duncan Moy has built a lot of momentum with recruiting coming off a great performance at Midwest LIVE with Badger HS. Recently he received a scholarship offer from Gannon University. He will join
@wildcatselect
at the Adidas Final in Rock Hill, SC July 6-9 📈

Looking for some hungry players in the class of 2025-2023 interested in representing
@Team_Wildcat
on the Adidas Gold Gauntlet this season. New platform and great opportunity to take your game to new heights.
When I evaluate players, all I want to see is does he have the confidence, courage, and ability to make a play when his team needs it and does he positively affect the outcome in multiple ways. Be a good teammate, bring a positive attitude, and work hard - you will go far.

There’s a big difference between being good enough to play on a team, and being good enough to help a team win.
That’s the distinction coaches have to make in recruiting.
As an athlete, you have one chance to take advantage of an opportunity, and you have to do whatever it takes to make the most of it. Once it’s over, it’s gone forever, and it’s not coming back.
You’re either committed or you’re not. It either means something or it has no meaning. After today I know we have a group of players that want to get better and care about doing the right things. Here’s to the start of another season
@wildcatselect
Great season for
@wildcatselect
15u. Finished the year 33-7. Lifelong memories and connections all because of this great game. Thank you to all the players and parents for your trust and belief in our program.
I asked
@CoachJordanFee
if the expectations and belief for this program have changed following their incredible run this season.
His answer is everything:
@GANNON_MBB
@GUKnights
Everyone, at some point in time, is going to be put in a difficult situation and be faced with adversity. Some people thrive in those situations; other people pack their bags and go home.
If you can throw and catch a football, throw, catch, and hit a baseball, hit a golf ball, shoot a basketball, and bench press 200 lbs, that qualifies you as an athlete in my book. And I can do all that stuff.
You do it as tough as you possibly can in all things. You play hard and go for it with everything you got. That’s the only way to live. Everybody’s got that in them you just have to let it loose.
