As a stutterer myself, just want to say it’s not Biden not knowing things all the time when he speaks. He is stuttering. He just tried to say “making billionaires richer,” but had to adjust and say “making billionaires r- more wealthy.” This is how stuttering is like in real life
Here is video of Pittsburgh Police shooting a projectile at a small group of protesters from close range. The protesters have their hands up. This is from June 1 in East Liberty. The police and city are being sued by protesters for their actions on this day.
It's official. John Fetterman has filed papers to run for U.S. Senate in 2022. PA seat is rated as toss-up by political prognosticators, which is currently Dems best chance at flipping a seat. Here's our story from when Fetterman announced exploring a run

Not just a day off. 29k of 35k left can't be legally counted until Fri. due to court order. 29k are replacement ballots bc a contracted company delivered wrong ballots last month. Election return board HAS to legally meet tmrw before counting can resume
🚨Allegheny County counting update🚨
Most 35k mail-ins to be counted are the 29k ballots that can't be legally counted until Friday. No mail-in ballot counting today.
But, 6 in person precincts will be tabulated in Braddock Hills, Homestead, Pittsburgh (2), Shaler & Whitehall
This tweet is filled with incomplete information. it's not just a day off. County CAN'T LEGALLY COUNT 29k of 35k ballots today due to court order, bc a contracting company sent out wrong mail-in ballots last month and they needed to be replaced.
Practically every inch under Florida is under water. The limestone bedrock beneath Florida is porous and basically all underwater caves, and can’t support tunnels. Level of naivety is astounding.
@FrancisSuarez
@CityofMiami
Cars & trucks stuck in traffic generate megatons of toxic gases & particulate, but
@boringcompany
road tunnels under Miami would solve traffic & be an example to the world.
Spoke with
@RonDeSantisFL
about tunnels last week. If Governor & Mayor want this done, we will do it.
@Phil_Lewis_
It was a bit. “We’ve been trying to do something a little different this year with something humorous going on in the background … trying to make it a little more interesting,” said a Seven Springs official.
The failure of Pennsylvania to have firm election results on Election Day is an openly partisan failure by Democrats from the Wolf administration to the PA Supreme Court.
New from me: A mail-carrier from Baldwin, Pa. currently under investigation for allegedly throwing away garbage bags full of mail is an apparent QAnon conspiracy theorist
Truly amazing that several national publications/media supposedly spent effort and ran stories trying to discredit a doctor's story about a 10-year-old getting raped, then basically didn't follow up or do on the ground reporting and were disproven by one local newspaper reporter
I was the ONLY reporter in the courtroom this morning as the man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl, impregnating her, leading to an abortion in Indiana, was arraigned.
This confirms that the case exists.
NEW: Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto has conceded to Ed Gainey.
PA state rep Ed Gainey will almost certainly become the first Black mayor in Pittsburgh history. Truly historic in a city with only 25% Black residents.
I just called
@gainey_ed
and congratulated him on earning the Democratic endorsement for Mayor of the city of Pittsburgh. Wishing him well. Thank you Pittsburgh for the honor of being your Mayor these past 8 years. I will remain forever grateful.
PA Dems had incredible midterms
▪️ Shapiro blows out governor race, means 3 straight Dem terms for gov, unprecedented in modern history
▪️ Fetterman coasts to victory, flips R Senate seat
▪️ Hold all toss-up Congress seats
▪️ May flip state house for 1st time in 30 years
NEW: The AP has called the Allegheny County Executive race for Sara Innamorato, a progressive lawmaker. She joins several other progressives who have won in the Pittsburgh area over the last few years. She is taking the stage now
The US has a rich history of rail travel. While American passenger rail may be falling behind other countries when it comes to passengers and daily departures, its beautiful stations are no slouch.
Here are 10 of America's most beautiful Amtrak stations...
@lackingsaint
Also just to be a nerd here, but Californians DO have accents & unlike other states it’s more prevalent among young people than old, bc young people are more likely to be native Californians while older people like Livingston (from Iowa!) are transplants
Pennsylvania's vote-by mail-law was approved in 2019 by a Republican-held legislature. If Republicans didn't want it, they just had to not create it and support it.
New: The state of Missouri + 9 other states have filed a brief in support of PA GOP. Goes hard on the notion that voting by mail is especially susceptible to widespread fraud, which election experts who study voting trends and behavior say is unfounded
Basically everything stated here is false. Muni budgets don’t pay for lion’s share of bridge repairs, need state of fed funds first. Bike lanes are 1/1000th cost of bridge repairs. Green energy programs are rules companies have to adhere to and self-driving is privately funded.
The bridge that just collapsed in the city of Pittsburgh was set to be restored in 2016. Instead of replacing the completely rusted out supports, they diverted the money to bike lanes, green energy programs and lanes for self driving cars.
Sen. Steve Daines: “Twenty years ago in Montana, meth was homemade. It was homegrown. And you had purity levels less than 30%. Today the meth that is getting into Montana is Mexican cartel.”
Here’s how highways have hurt Black Pittsburghers: On left is Downtown and the Hill District (Pittsburgh’s historic Black neighborhood, once compared to Harlem in its influence on Black American culture) and on right, what it looked like before I-579 & the Civic Arena were built
The British Financial Times not understanding exactly where and what Sheetz is, only outdone by its meekness in describing Pittburghers’ hatred of the Dallas Cowboys
NEW: Pittsburgh Jewish, Black leaders call out GOP candidate Doug Mastriano for his ties to Gab, the far-right social platform used by the Tree of Life shooter. They called Gab a "festering cesspool of intolerance"
Every rural PA county listed here is bleeding population rapidly as they get redder, and one Latina immigrant says in this well-reported story there are few places in her town she feels safe. Conclusion: this is national liberals' and leftists' fault.

#GeorgeFloydProtests
crowd is massive, stretching longer and filling up more than an entire downtown block. And picking up more people as it moves through downtown.
The funniest thing about the Jason Aldean controversy is that he also released a song in 2019 called “Rearview Town” about how he defiantly left a small town because it sucked
Allegheny County officials have announced more than 130,000 mail-in ballots have been scanned. Last week, county received 142,000 mail-in ballots, they anticipate receiving between 150,000 to 160,000 total. Seems safe to say Allegheny County will have all mail-ins counted tonight
@Emilycgb
I have a stutter, was way worse as a kid. I can’t even imagine trying to give a speech in front of national audience at that age. It was amazing
NEW: Pennsylvania state delegates to the DNC just held a virtual meeting and voted unanimously to support Kamala Harris as the nominee, delegates tell me. 159 more delegates for Harris.
Um, why are these online ads calling Sean Parnell a "Congressman" in his endorsement of PA GOP senate candidate Dave McCormick? Parnell has never been elected to public office, let alone Congress, and he lost his 2020 race against U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb
Some reporters in the White House pool today were perplexed by John Fetterman's shorts. I told him shorts are pretty typically garb for him, though they are usually cargo. And then they nodded. Welcome to Pittsburgh.
@WendyBellPgh
[Pittsburgh experiences big flash floods, tons of property damage and power outages]
Everyone: Gosh I hope everyone is ok, let’s help clean up.
Wendy: I bet you dumb libs still like Biden 🥴
Literally so many local restaurants across the country are asking Americans to NOT use Uber Eats, Grubhub, Postmates, etc. because those apps take money from small businesses. They actually want you to order through restaurant sites or call them directly on phone.
Video of the confirmed tornado that touched down on Washington Boulevard in Pittsburgh’s Highland Park neighborhood this afternoon. Video via Matt Butrovich on YouTube. Confirmed by

NEW from
@hanfranny
: Controversial right-wing KDKA Radio host Wendy Bell has been taken off the air indefinitely, following backlash to her, on air comments encouraging park rangers to shoot monument protesters
Pittsburgh, the Barstool Sports guy doesn't care one iota about our pizza or our sandwiches, he just wants to sell his new sports betting app. We don't need his crappy validation
John Fetterman won all 67 Pennsylvania counties last night in his Democratic Primary election for US Senate. Even taking Philly by a few percentage points, where it was predicted he would do poorly
@RottenInDenmark
I feel like this same principle applies to Disneyland and amusement parks. People really like being able to walk around, shop, eat, see entertainment without worrying about cars, but in america, we think it’s only possible by driving to a massive parking lot, then doing it
Pittsburgh: If you are not born and raised here, then your opinions don’t matter. Go back to California.
Also Pittsburgh: Omg, barstool guy ate at Mineo’s and Primanti’s. Tell us what you think. Hahaha, we love you. Validate us!!!
Can't repeat this enough. In Pittsburgh, Black Lives Matter protesters this Aug. were told by police to enter nearby park after protesting in front of Mayor's house. After they entered the park, police lied, said park was closed, then fired projectiles & pepper spray at them
PA state Sen. Doug Mastriano's staff asked CP to retract our coverage of him at Jan 6 insurrection (we were one of the first), citing he didn't actually enter the Capitol grounds, and now videos contradict those claims. Via
@HuffPost
Mehmet Oz today "John Fetterman will befriend Bernie Sanders in the Senate. He will follow Bernie's lead and be his sidekick. PA and America cannot afford to have another “Bernie” in the Senate."
Oz in 2019: Praises Sanders health "he's got what it takes, just keep going Bernie"
Allegheny County Executive gave us this answer when we asked for his reaction to Senator Cruz’s statement about the Paris Climate Accord not helping our area.
@KDKA
completely fair to bring up Fetterman not releasing his medical records, given his stroke.
But if he needs closed captioning for an extended time moving forward, are we to believe the senate can't accommodate?
What if a deaf person was elected or a senator became deaf?
Also this tweet omits from the middle of the quote “before the the closed captioning was rolling.” Pretty disingenuous from Kraushaar. I can’t quote tweet him because he blocked me years ago
National assignment editors, Western PA journo here. I'm pleading w/ you, plz don't assign stories about how we feel about fracking or oil. Not only do most laypeople here rarely talk about it, they're like most Americans, more concerned about COVID, economic relief, schools, etc
Some personal news: It was a tough decision, but I’m leaving
@PGHCityPaper
next month. I will be forever grateful to CP and everyone there. They gave me my first big journalism break 6 years ago and fostered the work I am proud of. But it’s time to move on & I’m staying in PGH

candidate Dean Browning (who lost in the GOP primary this year) clearly forgetting to log into his anonymous account when replying to his own tweet and claiming he is Black and gay and hates Obama.
NEW: A Pittsburgh Police officer filed charges against a protester who lost his eye during a 2020 Black Lives Matter demonstration after police shot him w/ a rubber bullet. That protester says same officer accosted him during his recent preliminary hearing
INBOX: Sens Casey & Fetterman announce $144M for expanding passenger rail service between Pittsburgh-NYC via Harrisburg & Philly. Will add 2nd daily roundtrip. Fed funding was last piece of puzzle as state & Norfolk Southern already worked out deal for corridor upgrades. Story tk
Police in Pittsburgh shot sponge rounds, bean bags, pepper spray and tear gas at a group of BLM protesters on a public street in June because the "failed to disperse"
Engineer who worked on this tunnel for a bit before quitting messaged me other day and said “basically all the engineers did was work to make sure that the fancy lights looked cool” and that people trashing the tunnel - bc cars are slow, etc - are way more right than they realize
The only thing from stopping the strip district from being like his all the time is the obsession that drivers have to park right next to their destinations. Maintain some ADA parking spaces and then open up the whole district!
Just realized Dems flipping the state house kills the effort by PA GOP to introduce a constitutional amendment to get an anti-abortion referendum on the statewide ballot next year.
NEW: Congressional candidate Sean Parnell joined a lawsuit today claiming PA's mail-in voting is unconstitutional. But, just back in April, Parnell praised the "bipartisan system in place for early & mail in voting” and encouraged voters to "use it."
NEW:
@PGNewsGuild
has informed me the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has removed
@alexisjreports

protest coverage because of a viral tweet she sent out poking fun at trash that's usually left at Kenny Chesney concerts
After increasing wage to $15 an hour, Klavon’s Ice Cream Parlor says all positions are filled, morale is up, and prices haven’t been raised, even as Pittsburgh is lagging significantly in its restaurant employment recovery. Via

First ever parking chair. In my defense, this is in the lot behind my place and I also shoveled out an entire 30 yard path to the road. Am I am real Pittsburgher now?
More than 300 hundred people here for Pittsburgh’s

NOW: About 100 marching down Forbes Avenue in Oakland. Union members and others chanting “Black Workers Matter” and calling for corporations that have put out BLM statements to actually do more for Black workers.
NEW: PA state
@RepSummerLee
is introducing a bill to end cash bail in Pennsylvania, citing a waste of taxpayer funds incarnating individuals who may not even be convicted, and no evidence that cash bail leads to better public safety outcomes.
BREAKING: Pa. state Rep. Ed Gainey (D-Lincoln-Lemington) officially announces a run for Pittsburgh mayor. "I understand that city government has the power to change lives, uplift communities, and fix what’s broken in our city," says Gainey in press release.

@billpeduto
might have lost the 2021 Pittsburgh mayor's race, but he will never lose his dedication to posting. He honors the posters' code, and he is posting his way through it. Legendary
Pennsylvania’s second lady called the n-word by a random women in a Western Pennsylvania parking lot. Fetterman was born in Brazil, has been in the US since she was a child.
PA delegation floodgates opening following Shapiro's endorsement of Harris. Phone is blowing up with messages/tweets of delegates endorsing Harris. Feels like some were waiting to see what Shapiro would do, and w/ him backing Harris & not seeking nomination, everyone following
