I'm seeing a lot of people claim Chainsaw Man is outselling My Hero Academia in the US. It's not. It only did so in its first week, that was the achievement. Week 2 and 3, only MHA #28 charted, CSM #5 was out of the top. MHA #28 sold 8,371 and 6,979 additional units then.

The Apothecary Diaries light novels sold 1,092,510 units during the first half of the year. It's the first time a LN sells over a million since Demon Slayer in 2020 and SAO in 2017. The Haikyu novels also sold 689,554 units, more than any LN did in 2022 or 2023. What a year!

Until this year, only one manga had ever managed to get a first print of over 200,000 units in France. Naruto. However it all changed this year as five more manga series reached that threshold. Jujutsu Kaisen, Mashle, My Hero Academia - 200k One Piece - 230k Kaiju No. 8 - 250k

French Manga Sales, Gfk data via LivresHebdo With 274,975 units sold, Naruto Volume 1 was the 9th best-selling book and the best-selling manga volume of 2021 in France. Its sales increased by +115% compared to 2020 and by +366% compared to 2019.

Doesn't make Chainsaw Man outselling My Hero Academia in their launch week any less impressive. It was still a first. No other manga had ever done so since My Hero Academia first exploded in popularity in the US.

Remember this? Well, it didn't age well. The most recent Dandadan volume ( #6 ) received a first print of 90,000 units (via LivresHebdo) That's a -70% drop, not even a year later. To compare: Kaiju No. 8 #6 still had a 250k first print, the same as volume 1.

Bocchi the Rock! was the 10th best-selling manga series of the past week in Japan, with 51,335 units sold. It had never been in the top 10 before. You don't often see such longevity after an anime ends. At this point, I have no idea when it will stop selling.

For the first time since June 2019, My Hero Academia was not in the monthly Oricon Series Top 20. It managed a 46 months-long streak in the ranking. This is (probably) the second longest streak in Oricon history, only behind One Piece around the years 2009-2013.

Nowadays, One Piece sells more copies outside of Japan than within it. Whenever we get a circulation update for the series, the non-JP part will have increased the most (unless they finally add JP digital sales). We haven't had an update since the JP release of film Red!

It's normal to feel happy when you see someone who looks like you on screen. The ~500 million Arab people all over the world also deserve that

For the first time since March 21st, 2017, a Bleach volume charted in a daily Shoseki ranking. Bleach #73 was ranked 454th and #74 was 500th It seems the anime does help the manga sales ever so slightly. It's insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but eh, still a fun fact
