Akon and his huge land acquisition moves when the natives have no land! Once again Black capitalism takes you to the same hell!!
Akon and his dreams of cities named after him on lands of people whose ancestors are buried on that land but have no land is violence!
I am disappointed that you don’t find me guilty of offending the president. I plan to offend Yoweri Museveni Kaguta because he has offended us. Find me guilty of offending the dictator.”

It takes a village, they say, but oftentimes, it takes the women to turn the tide. My great ancestors whose faces I see when I look in the mirror carry me.
It's been 4 years of grit, agony, and pride to build this dream into reality. To rest and softness in 2023! 🖤

Having big numbers of classed women in positions of power and Women’s liberation are not the same, especially when that majority is positioned to serve the patriarchal state’s hold onto citizens.
So the EC has no results for the public to see a week after they announced Museveni’s 6th term. Where did media house’s get what they broadcast? Any media that broadcast results had responsibility to tell citizens the source!

For everyone in Uganda, who lost their lives, who today lost a loved one, someone, family, whoever's injured, who is too traumatised to speak tonight, we owe them the truth. I don't see this state about to give any justice but let's continue to speak the truth to power!
Akon's huge land acquisitions in a country plagued by combined imperialist, capitalist, patriarchal and dictatorial plunder of communal lands leaving millions landless and in poverty is violence!
What you believe cannot be dictated onto others. Uju beyond a university is her own person and has a right to talk about those who murdered her people the way she sees fit. Civility imposed to the benefit of colonisers is the oldest trick in the oppression book!
#protectUju
I do believe opinion can be expressed without unnecessary vulgarity. Very unbecoming for a scholar. We should go back to expressing diverging point of views with solid arguments rather than cursing for emphasis. Universities can’t shy away from condemning outrageous statements
LGBTQI+ persons existed before Uganda, they will continue to exist long after it.
The new anti-homosexuality law seeks to invisibilize the community, criminalizing people, promote hate. Every law rooted in hate of difference has always been resisted, & the resistance continues

Akon cosying up with a regime that has forced millions off their lands in the name of development is violence!
From Amuru to Kalangala to Bwindi to Karamoja, there's no free land in Uganda!
Akon and the rich like him to acquire big lands rely on the violent state structure!
About ten years ago, a friend wanted to take her kid to church for Sunday school. She asked me to come with her to Watoto Church - Kampala Road.
Garry Skinner stood on that pulpit, I kid you not, said: "Colonisation was god's plan for Africa."
I never ever went there again!
I left Watoto 15 years ago, not long after they run a months-long series on the evils of Islam. For the 1st time I developed doubts about the ideological programme of that church. Doubts which felt small at the time, but they turned out to be fatal. I stopped going soon after.

There's no free land in Africa for the rich to exploit! The people who will never see a cent from this city will be the ones whose lands will be captured! Capitalist expansion like Akon is pitching is inherently violent!

An election held on gun point, controlled by the regime which cut off the most mass communication in the country was never going to deliver a turning point in the revolution! Still I voted.
When you have no one to fight but your own people after 35 years in power. You don't even wait for them to think of an alternative- you take tanks into the streets, planes in the air to remind them what awaits them if they don't choose you. Last days of dictatorship!
In a show of might, UPDF tanks have driven through the famous opposition stronghold down town Kampala. The tanks belong to the land forces commanded by Elwelu.
Uganda is now some 45 hours away from its presidential and parliamentary poll
Nudity and protest is long long tradition in Uganda before your colonized mind and religious send you into some commentary on today’s protest by young women activists in Kampala!
Points on this space:
1: Beware of using the need for evidence as measure to silence experiences of victims of torture (Kakwenza's torture is visible, many may not be)
2: It's not an individual vs systemic accountability. These can be pushed concurrently

Patriarchy is really a drag! Many women do terrible things to their children for the male gaze, male attention. Standing up for your child like this woman has done is then reduced to you still like your ex! Tbh patriarchy ill-prepares all to face dynamics of blended families.
Class/capitalist oppression is not inevitable in Africa! We must find more ways to develop our lands that have community at heart not regurgitate oppression. As a Black person your dream can't be 'I want to be like the bazungu that own hills and hill of ranches'.
Revisionism
The religious subjugation of African spirituality, to ‘cleanse the African’ and replace with colonial foreign religion cannot be here revisited like this!
Colonialism is a political, economic, religious and cultural project that is still going on as established
It's because the missionary and the colonizer were two different people. Kenyans love putting it as if they were one and the same. Especially with the whole " colonizers religion"..and yet sometimes the only similarity btn them was the fact that they were white.
