PE becomes frustratingly more devalued every day. Parents writing notes to excuse children who are well able to do something. More recently, club coaches are telling children to sit out of PE because of external games. Ridiculous! PE is part of the curriculum. I.e. compulsory.

Vaping and e-cigarettes...I get them, for people trying to quit regular cigarettes, but the amount of young people (non-smokers) using them is unreal. A new generation hooked on nicotine (and whatever else is added). All I see is an irresponsibly marketed gateway drug 🤷🏻

Watching all these players, who would be the same age as him, makes me wonder where Aaron would have been right now. I think he'd have been mixing it with the best of them. The loss, in pure sporting terms, is still felt most at club level though. Irreplaceable at home.

I'm struggling to understand the frustration about clubs getting tickets for big games for their members now. I get that there are some exceptions, but Club is *everything*. It's the base of our pyramid. In fairness, I don't think I'll ever understand 'County-only' supporters.

I've heard several times now that Minor (or u17) finals don't take place before senior finals because of the stress it might put on the players involved. Did anyone ever ask the players? It might be the biggest occasion some ever get to enjoy - and some suit denies it 🤷🏻

When you drive past a shop/filling station in the morning it's almost unbelievable how many pupils you see with polystyrene hot-food containers and massive bottles of 'energy' drinks. The results...(long-term) more obesity, type II diabetes and (short-term) masses of litter. 😠

Do any other sports condemn their coaches & players after a poor spectacle as much as in Gaelic Football? Poor soccer game...'it was a poor game'. Poor rugby match....'it was a poor match.' Poor GAA (played by amateurs)....'the sport is dying. We need to change....' 👊 Wise up.

@CahairOKane1 What is so wrong with an 18 year old playing adult football? It's a different sport, but this past week a 13 year old made his debut for Glentoran. Jonah Lomu debuted for the All Blacks at 19. The ALL BLACKS. Not his local club with a population of 400 people. Arbitrary crap.

Spillane saying 'Golden Score' is more fair than penalties. So, 5 kicks each is less fair than one point being decided by a dodgy free or something? Or a point by a team who have a hurricane at their backs? It's not perfect, but at least both have the same chance.

Just dropped the eldest boy, 11, at the pitch to kick about with his friends. Ran out of the car..."what's the teams?"...straight in to a game of, now, 3v2. They couldn't wait 'til I pi$$ed off to let them play in peace - and they're better off for it.

Young boy told me off in training tonight for coaching the player on the ball whilst reffing. 'Why do the refs tell you what to do!?' I asked what he meant. He said I was alerting the defence to a pass he was going to make anyway. He had a fine point. Lesson, from an U9, learnt.

No one wants to see scraps at games. It's horrible to watch. I think I've got a solution...if you're at a game and a row starts - take a look around...if you see anyone take out their phone to film it...stop them 😉 Then no one has to see it and the filmer gets no attention.

Drove past Derrylaughan GAA this morning en route to the M1. With the sun shining over the Lough, there aren't too many better-looking locations for a club about. The grounds around the pitch and the new stand.. serious effort 👌🏼 (Brocagh looked good too, before I'm told off!)

The forward mark hasn't added anything..but the black card is STILL being misused. It was added to stop DELIBERATE cynical fouls. Deliberate. It's being issued for fouls that are not deliberate. Mis-timed or poorly executed tackles are NOT cynical. @officialgaa please help.

Lots of talk about new GAA rules (AGAIN!) but I've changed my mind on why I'd like the black card binned - gulpins/ganches/slabbers shouting 'black card, ref!!' for every foul 😵🤢🤯 It's golf's equivalent of 'get in the hole!' at this point. Save our ears. 🙉🙉🙉

I went to the @ulsterschools Casement Cup final last night - disappointed with the result, but the best side won. For some context - when you actually see how miniscule the hurling-playing population is in @PE_stmarys you'll realise just how good a job @BigRuairi is doing there.

Last week, on a horrible, wet day, a load of local volunteers picked litter out of the hedges round here. The past few days, round Mullan Corner again, the hedges are filled with litter. If I see anyone I know doing this I'm going to pick it up & dump it in their garden later.

Fed up with some of the over-elaborate suggestions for rules to "save" Gaelic football. Most actually add to the problems that people are whining about; others are next-to impossible to referee. Clean up the tackle. Define it. Be consistent with it. There's your starting point.

If you ignore the usual chat bout tactics, I think the skill levels of Gaelic footballer now have evolved to a level that surpasses anything before. There are players now, like Clifford & Walsh, who do unbelievable things with such ease. Ignore the static, enjoy the good stuff.

Some people just cannot cope without that wee divider separating your groceries from theirs on the conveyor belt. Settle, I've only a loaf and kit-kat chunky, I think we can handle this.
