The only
#Chiefs
OL who has been with KC since the initial 2019 run
He watched that group crumble in Tampa — cool to see him be a reason OL injuries didn’t get them this time
An emotional Nick Allegretti afterward, filling in for Joe Thuney today. "They were there for me all week with communication, making sure I was engrained in this offense. God, I'm so proud of this team."
#Chiefs
When pointing out that the
#Chiefs
beat the Ravens this year, the first thing said is “the Ravens have gotten a lot better since that game”
Can’t the same thing be said about the Chiefs? Didn’t have Tyreek Hill or Fisher. Defense was not where it is now. It goes both ways
Embarrassing the Broncos on Xmas Day 2016 with a Dontari Poe TD pass was maybe the peak of the Alex Smith era
And it kicked off 8 straight years winning the AFC West
After this deep incompletion to Mecole, you see him point at the sideline and gesture to someone
I saw it in the stadium, it was Chris Jones jumping up from the bench, almost coming on the field to yell at him
Don't think he liked 12's effort to finish this play
#Chiefs
Per
@espn
#Chiefs
LG Joe Thuney has the highest pass block win rate of all qualified Guards this season (prior to Wk18). RG Trey Smith has the third-highest
No game should be close when you set a season high in 1st downs, complete 88% of passes with no INTs, rush for 5.5 yards a pop btwn your RBs, and total over 500 net yards
What a weird day
Mahomes' honesty is so refreshing man. Standing in front of reporters and detailing what he isn't doing well and how it's affecting the offense. All with a calm demeanor
A true leader
Another of my all-time favorite Arrowhead moments for
#ChiefsKingdom
A penalty forced the Raiders to re-punt as Tyreek’s name echoed through the stadium
Come for the return, stay for Kelce taunting Marquette King
How about Nick Bolton with a team-leading 14 total tackles and THREE passes defended, including one that led to an INT and one that stopped a fourth-down attempt
Somehow still not the most impressive game of his rookie season
#Chiefs
The 9-0 start to 2013 was so fun. Arrowhead was hungry for a winner.
I’ll never forget the roar of the crowd turning to a white noise as Abdullah finished off the Raiders with a pick 6
This was the original Guinness World Record for crowd noise:
Per PFF, the
#Chiefs
have 21 missed tackles through two games….
Dirty Dan has 9 of them; no other
#Chiefs
player has more than 2 — and no other NFL player has more than 6.
I know him playing nearly ever snap helps him accumulate them, but wheeeew
Before last year’s Wild Card game, I had always remembered this 2016 primetime game vs. the Raiders as the coldest I’ve been at Arrowhead
And this Tyreek moment made it all worth it, taking advantage of a re-kick with the crowd chanting his name
Nick Bolton has been running as the Dime LB in
#ChiefsCamp
, meaning the Chiefs are preparing to use him as a three-down, every-snap LB
We saw him play the Dime and take 99% of the snaps in the Wk15 Chargers game last yr; he racked up 14 total tackles and 3 passes defended
I don't think we understand how well on our way we were to an all-time Mahomes game prior to his injury
He was feeling himself on the opening drive: peep the gun holstering after the 3rd clip
Another great Arrowhead moment from Mahomes’ first year starting
#ChiefsKingdom
4th & 9, coming off a frustrating false start in a do-or-die situation against the Ravens
Then Mahomes happened.
At this moment, the only NFL players with more pressures (PFF) this year than
#Chiefs
DE George Karlaftis are:
TJ Watt
Max Crosby
Aidan Hutchinson
Myles Garrett
Micah Parsons
Can’t imagine playing as physical as Spags’ CBs are asked to play through this…
This and Allegretti, these are the individual stories that add up to a legendary
#Chiefs
team
Surgery was a success I got my labrum in week 2!! Was given the option to get surgery or try to play the remainder of the season 5 months later 2x Super Bowl Champ!! A lot of discomfort a lot of pain this year but worth every moment 🎢
Felix Anudike-Uzomah will likely be in more pass-rush packages in place of Omenihu in Super Bowl LVIII
That was also the case Wks 1-6. He was exclusively used off the edge, and showed an ability to cave the pocket when stunting inside
Juju on Skyy Moore: "He's going to help us out a lot inside, outside, I could see him playing running back too. Just cause he's got that in him"
We had Andy tell us Skyy had those running back legs...
Could we see Skyy used in that RB/WR hybrid role, similar to Deebo Samuel?
My favorite way to get fired up for
#Chiefs
szn is looking back at the unforgettable moments I’ve witnessed at Arrowhead
Like 4th & 9 against Baltimore during Mahomes’ first year starting:
How about Damien Williams breaking off a 91-yard run to help the
#Chiefs
overcome Mahomes’ absence against the Vikings!
Tyreek’s chase down makes this even more memorable
No all-time Arrowhead moment like clinching our first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years
#ChiefsKingdom
Anyone who was there remembers the audible “SAMMY!” as that ball flew through the air. Unforgettable
The entire
#Chiefs
DL is entirely made up of alignment-versatile guys.
All the DEs (Karlaftis, Danna, Omenihu) have been used as inside rushers at times, and both interior players (Jones, Wharton) have the athleticism to line up and come off the edge
Mike Pennel was the
#Chiefs
' snap leader at NT in SBLVIII, and didn't waste his opportunity
He led all KC DL in tackles (6), and tied for the team lead in PFF's 'Stops' metric. When he was rotated out, it was noticeable
There are 4 candidates for NFL MVP to me, and I don't see a 5th player joining this group the rest of this season
Patrick Mahomes
Josh Allen
Jalen Hurts
Micah Parsons
Full transparency: I did not realize how little wins the Bills have against legitimate opponents this year.
Outside of the win at KC, they've beaten one other playoff team: the Pats. The next best win is either Miami or the Saints
Random but interesting...
Frank Clark has 10 career postseason sacks -- tied for the 11th most in NFL postseason history. One more full sack would put him into a tie for fifth all-time with guys like James Harrison, Charles Haley, Dwight Freeney and Clay Matthews

THREAD: Here are my observations from
#Chiefs
training camp on Friday morning
@ArrowheadPride
First day of full pads featured multiple team periods, then I focused on OL v DL 1v1s
This may be the singular greatest play in Arrowhead Stadium history. The height of the crowd’s roar is up there with any I’ve been a part of
Right before halftime of the 2019 AFCCG..
#ChiefsKingdom
#Chiefs
have next 4/5 games at home. Starting 3/4 on the road and going 3-1 was huge.
Bonus fun fact: This is the first AFC West MNF game at Arrowhead in the Mahomes era
THREAD: Here are my observations on the
#Chiefs
’ offense, specifically the Skill-position group from training camp Sunday morning
It was a 10-10-10 session — so no Live periods, and starting team faced reserve units in scouted looks
I see the
#Chiefs
backfield as follows:
Pacheco - Lead back
Perine - Pass-Down Back
Steele - Early-Down/Short-Distance back to spell Pacheco
CEH - Backup for injury at any role — but possibly gameday inactive
The
#Chiefs
have used one Top 50 pick on offense in the era of Patrick Mahomes
RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire
It’s caught up with the unit. It needs top-end talent. That’s why KC 100% goes offense tonight
To be on the record, I don’t think there’s any contract I wouldn’t make work to keep Tyreek Hill. I believe his skills are worth whatever it takes
Unbelievable
Here's Donovan Smith catching and throwing Carl Granderson to the ground in pass protection
#Chiefs
This was a good pocket, Mahomes prematurely scrambled
The Melvin Ingram trade is a lot more exciting to me because Frank Clark has been coming on strong lately.
Those two off the edge with a combination of Jones on the interior could be very, very fun if all 3 play to their ceilings
Chenal's snaps only came on early downs. The most he could do was make plays to force 3rd downs
Things like this 1st&20 play are examples. He anticipates run direction, then shows off some incredible closing speed
Comes from back side to limit run to 1 yard
Death, Taxes, and Jerick McKinnon putting people on their ass when chipping in pass protection
3 yrs into his
#Chiefs
career and he's still an absolute steal
Justyn Ross’ ascension to the
#Chiefs
’ top rotation of WRs is awesome. I was skeptical it could happen
But this team tried to force a very-washed Josh Gordon into the offense to get a big-bodied playmaker on the outside
They’ve wanted someone like Ross in the offense since 2021
#Chiefs
LB Willie Gay had the 3rd most tkls of the LB group, yet was arguably the most impactful
This TFL set Miami back on their 2nd-to-last drive, leading to a punt
He made two other 1st & 10 run stops, including nearly forcing a turnover in the 4th Quarter
It’s easy to forget Andrew Wylie was a part of the OL in SB LV that was ridiculed. The career Guard was forced to start at RT for only the 2nd time in his career
2 years later, Wylie gives up 1 pressure at the same position vs. one of the NFL’s best fronts to win SB LVII🔥
Friendly reminder that if Dee Ford doesn’t lineup offsides in the AFCCG, the Chiefs beat the Pats to go to the Super Bowl with the QBs’ stats looking like...
Mahomes
14/29 247 yards 3 TD 0 INT
Brady
25/35 263 yards 1 TD 3 INT
🤷🏼♂️
Pat will never beat the Ultimate Pat in a no-tomorrow playoff game. Brady>Mahomes. Brady will always make fewer mistakes, and no athlete in any sport has come up clutch more times in championship moments than Brady. 6 rings on 6 game-winning drives.
Just one throw, but this stood out to me live: How disciplined Mahomes' throwing fundamentals were here
Comes back right in the progression & brings his lead shoulder all the way with him. Over-the-top delivery.
Historically he tends to sling these w/o caring for the clean
#ChiefsKingdom
THREAD: Once again, Patrick Mahomes used his legs to secure a Super Bowl title
Like last year's big scramble, 15 saw the right moment to take off through the pocket upfield
He thought he saw it on the 4th Q drive too, but got caught that time
The Skyy TD is funny because you can see Mahomes gesture right for Moore, realize he's not there, then locate him on the left before casually running the play anyways & throwing a 4th Q Super Bowl TD
Skyy Moore has run 127 routes this season. 5 of them have resulted in a 1st down or TD
Rashee Rice has run 66 routes this season. 11 of them have resulted in a 1st down or TD
The
#Chiefs
WR room is begging for someone to emerge. 1st step is replacing wasted snaps / reps
