Here are the vaccines many already need(ed) just to go school:
Chickenpox
Diphtheria
Hepatitis A&B
Meningitis
Measles
Mumps
Polio
Pneumonia
Rotavirus
Rubella
Tetanus
Whooping Cough
Adding one for COVID doesn’t impact your freedom, it makes us all safer.
In the spring of 2006, then Sen. Obama said he was going to the Capitol, Sen. Reid wanted to see him. We both wondered why. A short time later, Obama returned, came into my office and said, a little stunned, "Harry wants me to run for President." It was the start of the journey.
We need to hear tomorrow from the Presidential Commission on Debates. They must outline a plan for how this is going to work going forward including cutting off mics for interrupting. 2020 is far too important to have two more episodes of that. Because that was not a debate.
Once again, today is the necessary time to use the White House Briefing Room. PLEASE bring out all the public health experts. Walk the nation through the response step by step, what comes next & what Americans need to do to prepare and assist in that. We need to hear it. PLEASE.
Imagine if just a fraction of the energy & activity around proving voter fraud had gone into the development of vaccine distribution plans at all levels of government since Election Night. Just imagine where we’d be on a real solution for a problem this country actually faces.
Born & raised in Alabama. Seen my share of Confederate flags & statues. We all studied history & know Confederates fought against USA. Over slavery. You support America & our troops? Then stop glorifying the other. Take it all down. They’re painful symbols. They’re un-American.
As we start Saturday, November 7, here’s where we are.
In Georgia, Joe Biden leads by 4,395 votes.
In Arizona, Joe Biden leads by 29,861 votes.
In Nevada, Joe Biden leads by 22,657 votes.
In Pennsylvania, Joe Biden leads by 28,833 votes.
Now would be an excellent time to use the White House Briefing Room, share as much intel as possible about what led to the events our military took & what comes next. Very important not to create an info vacuum & to bring the American people (and world) along on this big decision
15 years ago today, at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, the Obama for America Presidential campaign began. Still have my staff badge from back then.
In 1918, Milo Lemert saved my grandfather’s life in France during WWI. Without his act of heroism, I wouldn’t be here today. Let us remember all the sacrifices made in service to our great country this Memorial Day.
If you aren’t fluent in German or history, this means “work sets you free” & appears above the entrance to Auschwitz & other Nazi concentration camps. The photo is from an event in Chicago yesterday supposedly on reopening Illinois. It has no place in this debate or any other.
US intel warned about the novel coronavirus in more than a dozen classified briefings prepared for President Trump in Jan & Feb, months during which he continued to play down the threat. The Presidential Daily Briefing is also seen by some senior staff.
If you went to bed before 4:41 AM ET, you’re missing some dramatic events in Wisconsin. Biden trailed by 108,000 votes and now leads by more 11,000 because of Milwaukee votes. Wow. Kenosha and Green Bay still to come. Wow.
According to
@COVID19Tracking
, 95,373 Americans died of COVID in January. That’s an average of 3,076 a day. A 9/11 every single day in January. Please wear a mask. It could save a life.
We are now at a moment where both
@JoeBiden
and
@BernieSanders
need protection from the
@SecretService
. Scary moment tonight on the campaign trail. There have been too many of these already, including earlier to Sanders.
This Memorial Day, I’m remembering Milo Lemert, whose heroic sacrifice saved many including my grandfather in WWI near Bellicourt, France on September 29, 1918. My grandfather returned home & less than 2 years later named his first son & my uncle Milo Lemert Gibbs in his honor.
A long overdue memorial to the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have died from covid-19 at our nation’s capitol. May their families find peace and light.
In my time in politics, there’s isn’t a Presidential campaign that would go an hour before this staffer was fired. Truly remarkable that this action is condoned, even encouraged, rather than met with immediate dismissal and shame.
A senior Trump campaign advisor used her Twitter account Saturday to amplify an encouraging tweet of a video of a Texas man yelling about “fucking n———“ as he wielded a chainsaw to chase away anti-racism demonstrators
The headline is the economy added 1.4 million new jobs in August.
However, one in six of those jobs added were from the hiring of 238,000 temporary 2020 Census workers.
The number of permanent job losses increased to 3.4 million.
Running for President is usually a process that takes big personalities & humbles them. Not many come out of the process nearly as big as when they started. A tiny few emerge larger after the arduous journey.
@PeteButtigieg
was definitely one of those. He has a bright future.
Many focused on the House & Senate, but worth digging into results in places like Michigan and Whitmer’s huge win. She got 54.5% in a swing state. She got more this year than she did in ‘18. She’s 4% ahead of Biden in ‘20. The last Dem to win this big was Obama in ‘08.
Hopefully this happens very soon. Imperative for the President to speak to the nation and the world. He must lay out again the reasoning behind his decisions, how he sees the future of this region & what must be done to prevent another safe haven for al-Qaeda to plan attacks.
White House actively discussing how & when President Biden will address the nation on Afghanistan, with senior officials acknowledging Americans want to hear from him. He’s scheduled to stay at Camp David until Weds but could cut that short to return to WH. Nothing finalized yet.
Just think about the problems in Georgia with twice as many voters (or more) trying to vote in what could be a swing Presidential state, with 2 Senate seats on the ballot plus 2 toss up House races.
Because we’re just 146 days from that happening.
We aren’t even screening people for coronavirus coming from Italy at JFK Airport?! There’s a level 3 travel advisory for Americans going to Italy (and just so you know level 4 is the highest and it’s don’t go!) and yet nothing when they come back?! 🤦♂️
A week after terrorists stormed the Capitol, after all the news we’ve learned, all the harrowing video we’ve seen, all the death & mayhem, all the calls for unity, has anyone who voted against certifying the election, which caused every bit of this, denounced their vote?
When you describe Russian soldiers invading Ukraine right now as "peacekeepers", even when you use quotation marks, you are using language that Putin wants you to use. Call it what it is -- an invasion.

@Lesdoggg
happy to face tough questions again. Fridge is stainless steel (looks black from the angle) but it’s full of 12 hams as I’m practicing for the sweep. In the bowl are honeycrisp apples, easily reachable! Up all night like you but here to get you through Election 2020.
Calm
Confident
Steady
Thoughtful
Strategic
Empathetic
PRESIDENTIAL
And it took place just hours after Trump’s speech left so many needing more. The side-by-side was stark.
Today’s speech by Biden is a big moment. Rarely is there such a chance to show Presidential level leadership & contrast of approach on such a big crisis during a campaign. Last time: 2008 economic collapse, then Sen. Obama was called back to DC to meet with McCain and Pres. Bush.
Texas, rightly gets a lot of attention for its early vote totals. But worth noting, Georgia voters have cast 3,880,984 votes already, accounting for 93.2% of their total 2016 general election turnout. North Carolina has cast 4,345,427 votes or 91.1% of their 2016 turnout.
Too often it seems kids are engrossed on their phones with social media/videos/memes, missing what’s going on around them. Then one day you get a text from your 16-yr old asking if you’ve seen the Supreme Court decision on faithless electors. Sort of think they’re going to be ok.
Trump’s opponent isn’t COVID-19 or Joe Biden. He’s desperately fighting his well documented failure to act for weeks despite warnings from everywhere & his myriad of quotes downplaying the seriousness of what was coming. Everything now is about trying to rewrite that history.
Stunning to me the pictures we’ve seen the last few days of Nazi slogans & militia carrying assault rifles rushing a state capital. How & when to reopen is an important discussion we should have but we should do so respectfully. This hatred & nonsense should be condemned by all.
@jonfavs
@TVietor08
Though terribly egregious, nothing beats
@ReggieLove33
’s response, in a hold room with Obama and Biden in ‘08, to the news that Paul Newman had died saying “the salad dressing guy?!” The candidate for POTUS immediately gave Reggie a list of Newman movies he was required to watch
Most powerful line thus far tonight is from Kristin Urquiza whose father died from COVID: “His only preexisting condition was trusting Donald Trump and, for that, he paid with his life." Her father died alone with a nurse holding his hand.
For weeks, Trump asked voters to think about who’ll keep them safer. The results for him aren’t good. As
@davidaxelrod
said on our
@HacksOnTap
podcast “one thing about campaigns is if you’re going to ask a question, you better make sure you’re the answer!”
Trump w/ his most revealing quote of the pandemic said this yesterday: “When you test, you have a case. When you test you find something is wrong with people. If we didn’t do any testing, we would have very few cases.”
Now you know exactly how we got where we are in this mess.
Hard to believe this was 16 years ago. Watched this from the Convention floor standing with my dear friend
@davidaxelrod
after we’d spent the previous few weeks watching this take shape. Nice tie too. Still give me chills.
"There is not a liberal America and a conservative America. There is the United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America. There's the United States of America."
16 years ago tonight: Barack Obama's keynote speech:
Bravo to
@chucktodd
. Hopefully
@NBCNews
watched this tortured interview with Ronna McDaniel & realize just how big a disaster this is. There are PLENTY of Republicans to hire to provide analysis in an important election year that haven’t pushed election denial & lies.
Would love someone to explain to me the difference between this picture and the outrage of crowded beaches? Risking your health vs. participating in democracy shouldn’t be a choice in America right now. This is insane, regardless of your political persuasion.
The next time you hear someone say there’s no bench or not enough up and coming stars in the Democratic Party, just show them Whitmer’s numbers in 2022.
Looking again at the 7 swing state polls from Fox, Monmouth & Quinnipiac of AZ, FL, NC, PA & WI. Trump won all of them in 2016 but leads in none now. Trump’s avg is 44.1%. Biden currently ahead of Clinton’s ‘16 result in every poll. Trump trailing his ‘16 result in every poll.
An 18-year old became radicalized with racist bile & killed 10 at a grocery store in Buffalo. He drove 200 miles to a zip code with a high concentration of black people. Shouldn’t how he came to think like this, the influences that contributed to it, be of national importance?
Beyond honored to be nominated. More importantly, thank you for bringing some happiness and laughter to this year and for your work helping keep others safe.
Hope you request that no money from this legislation will be spent in your district. Please refuse any funding. Demand it. It’s the right thing for you to do. Ask others who voted no to demand the same.
July’s nighttime low was 3 degrees warmer than the 20th century average and the hottest nightly average for any month in 128 years of record keeping. With stats like these you’d think we could get past denying climate change is happening.
Years from now, as people study our pandemic response, they’ll be stunned at how much misinformation, denial & mixed messaging came from our leaders. They’ll be horrified at how so many needless deaths & so much economic devastation could have been avoided with real leadership.
Alabama State Troopers salute the casket of civil rights icon and U.S. Congressman John Lewis at the spot he was beat by the same force during the 1965 "Bloody Sunday" Selma to Montgomery March at the base of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Ala.
Now there’s something called a “murder hornet” and here I was worried we didn’t have enough mayhem in our lives.
I’m sort of over 2020 and it’s only May...
Latest ABC poll shows Trump with his lowest approval ratings on coronavirus response with 39% approve, 60% disapprove. As a reminder, two months ago, those numbers were 55% approve, 43% disapprove.
Over the past several weeks, the coronavirus has killed Americans at six times the average rate in other rich countries. And the U.S. is recording about eight times more infections.
This is a perfect visualization of what will be the primary campaign challenge over the next several weeks and maybe for the next few months. There will be a lot more events in empty halls projected to voters across the nation digitally.
This
@BarackObama
speech in Philly is a brutal takedown of
@realDonaldTrump
. The raging pandemic. The laggard economy. The assault on the ACA. The slights of the war heroes. The embrace of conspiracy theories and racist memes. “Why would we accept this from the
@POTUS
?”
As we start Saturday, November 7, here’s where we are.
In Georgia, Joe Biden leads by 4,395 votes.
In Arizona, Joe Biden leads by 29,861 votes.
In Nevada, Joe Biden leads by 22,657 votes.

The President’s physician says he needs to check w/ the nurses to see if the President needed supplemental oxygen yesterday? It’s ridiculous to pretend that the doctor doesn’t know something so fundamental to his care. The continued obfuscation by doctors is simply unacceptable.
The next time anyone asks what white privilege means or looks like show them this & a video of today where terrorists stormed the Capitol, desecrated it & then nearly all just walked out and were told to disperse as if they’d stayed too long on the tour. Revolting & shameful.
If we are going to discuss national polls 400+ days from a general election, can someone tell me how many of the 1,000 person sample were of voters from AZ, NV, GA, MI, WI and PA, where the actual race will be decided? I’m guessing around 150 total. Ok then, back to football.
Hate to get in the way of a good narrative but the state of the 2020 Presidential race is...remarkably stable. From
@FiveThirtyEight
averages over the past 17 days, starting the day before the DNC Convention to today, 6 days after the GOP Convention, movement has been very small.
