At age 9 I young girl had a goal to become a patented inventor.
At age 10 she had an invention ready. At age 11 she began the patent process.
Today at 14, she is adding her name to the previous statistic of only 4% of patent holders between 2006-2016
are all-female owned. 💪
The Aviation teacher (female) warned me I might be in a class full of guys, and asked if I was ok with that. 😏 She doesn’t know I’m a robot building, patent holding, car exploding, chainsaw using, Space Camp alumni, MythBuster... Yet.
There are multiple programs aimed at introducing girls to STEM. 👏👏You ever wonder though why many loose interest in middle school? It might be because we are tired of being “introduced” and nothing much is set up to foster the interest we already have. Deeper learning please.
Today I need to hear stories of the first time you quit something and it was a good decision. (Not addictions.) Society often uses “quitter” as a derogatory term and more often people talk of regret of quitting but I want to collect some no regrets stories.
I really wish there was a Twitter account run by a secret awesome person who will repost all the gross, harassing DM’s women get so that the men who say. “I don’t see that. That doesn’t happen.” Can see it!!! And what is posted can be safely shared anonymously, for protection.
I think my 9 year old brother just found his science project for the year. His teacher told him he could not bring Cheese-IT to school for his “healthy snack” but he can bring Goldfish. He’s going to crunch the numbers and do some 1:1 comparison.

Dear
@Discovery
when you hired a 13 year old, globally known, Girls in STEM advocate, who speaks out about inequality in the media, did you really think I wouldn’t see, or say something about this campaign? I’ve been taught not to read the comments, but in this case....please do.
Ha!The school just attempted to rally the freshman to pep-talk them into doing good on semester tests to “make the school look good”the message didn’t go over too well with a good number of students who spoke up that our futures are more important than the school’s report card.

@MythBusters
Jr. is different in that it’s NOT a competition. Nobody goes home crying. We are together as a team, one united front! I get enough competitions in real life. This was finally a chance to work together with other awesome minds my age. Collaboration > Competition
@chrissyteigen
It’s kimchi, the lactobacillus (LAB) bacteria growth takes over during fermentation and the other bacteria dies off in the salting process. Know your biology and chemistry! Its like yogurt, good bacteria takes over. The fact that it’s kimchi makes the complaint even less valid.😆
My reaction to tonight’s school board meeting when they refused to mandate masks because they don’t know how they can possibly enforce it. Let me get this straight: You can send girls home for spaghetti straps but you don’t dare send them home for not wearing a mask?
Happy Birthday to the amazing

Holiday movie life themes: Don’t work so much. Leave your work at work, and spend quality time with family and helping others.

POTUS is here today. On one hand I feel I’ve missed out on the opportunity to visit the WhiteHouse when they used to invite top kid scientists and Makers, some whom I’m now friends with, on the other hand. 😐I’m good.
Did you know that when you use a #, if you capitalize the first letter in each word instead of using all lower case, you not only make it easier to read, but also audio readers used for people who are visually impaired can read it too. Yes, they use social media too.

So cool! 😲 Where is the Pi? INSIDE the keyboard!
@Raspberry_Pi
’s new personal computer kit puts the capabilities of the “Raspberry Pi 400” right into a keyboard! No extra cord or case. No hunting down those tiny keyboards. Check out the new specs here.
School Wednesday might get a bit weird. I kind of didn’t tell anyone I filmed a TV show this summer, and between the font page of the local paper, and the local news coverage, I’m thinking... the cat hath been released from it’s bag.

I do NOT know all the answers. There are a LOT of people who know how to make things better than I do. I just like to build stuff and share about it. If you say. “Pshh, I could do that!” That’s exactly it! You can! Go for it! That’s why I share!
I find it hilarious that someone subscribed to my YouTube Channel, and gets notifications for it, so when I publish they can hit dislike. It’s always in the first 20 views and I generally only get a couple dislikes total, but always one in the first half hour. Sad existence. 😆
😢 Thanks for being my robotics/Mythbusting inspiration since I was 8, taking time on twitter to congratulate me on joining the Mythbusters family or to just make me laugh.

The coolest thing about 3D printing, is how you can easily replicate parts by printing the same file again! For example, this part I printed twice. Practically identical!!! 🤣

I actually stopped knolling my fries just recently in 2019. Portions are bigger in adult meals and there isn’t enough space to do so properly before they get cold. 🤷♀️

Thanks to

I’m really surprised no one has asked me these questions yet. 🤔 The answer to these two questions are yes, and yes. Back in May. But I couldn’t post because you would all know where I was, and figure out why. Pretty awesome day.
US History Teacher: “I want you to think up an idea for an invention then look up to see if a patent exists for it.”
Me: Raises hand. “What if you already thought of an invention and you know it has a patent because it's yours?”
Teacher: “Uh, I've never had that happen before.”
I couldn’t be a volunteer at the public library last summer to shelf books because I was “Too young to know how to properly.” despite the fact I had 2 years experience shelving books in my school library. So I took a job as a

Just read an article that compared an “atypical” brain to a “normal” brain. 🤔 There is no “normal” we are all on a spectrum and we all have talents in different areas. That’s a good thing. It’s not them and us. It’s just all of us.
A wise Limor once told me. "Make! Make kits, build things, follow tutorials and copy what others have made. It's the first step in learning the medium. Then from there, the original ideas and innovation comes. You don't have to make something AMAZING all the time just MAKE."
Wow!!! If you are wondering why I leave my YouTube comments on “Approve Only” ? One reason is the high number of kids who outright comment who they are and what school they go to after I speak at their school. Please teach your kids proper internet safety.
Guess who just got a “Notice of Allowance” on her first patent. Been waiting/working 3 years for this!!! Couple months and that paper will officially be in my hands!
@SimoneGiertz
I got a 95 Jeep Wrangler. I’m going to transform it into a Jurassic Park Jeep replica. 🦖🦕 I can drive (with an adult) now but still working on learning stick. So I can’t really drive the Jeep.. yet.

Gonna be a long day. I have mixed feelings about all 10 episodes of season 1 being over by tonight and no, none of us know what the future of the show is. We are just along for the ride. It’s been a fun one, and one I feel privileged and humbled to be a part of.
#MythBustersJr
One thing that changed on the
@MythBusters
set for MythBusters Jr. was the use of colorful language that was possibly just edited out before. Respectfully our elders tried to just modify such behaviors when we came on scene. I wish I would have found this sooner. 😆
Please people. If you hate teaching and don’t want to do your job. Don’t teach, and waste my time with your rants about whatever you feel like talking about for 4 hours, then give homework. Students have no choice but be your captive audience and it sucks. Move on.
Only been out 3 times to learn stick. I move from gear to gear ok, but starting from a stop needs a bit more work. I still want dad to tell me what to do though. Drove on the street today!!!

Why is it ok to leave out a kid’s name when acknowledging their scientific accomplishments and only list them by their age? Any adult female scientists want to be identified/recognized/listed only by age? I’m betting not.
Home Builders Association booth lost points with me today when they took one look at me, saw “a girl” and the first career they mentioned that they thought I might be interested in hearing about was “interior decorator”. Pretty sure they don’t lead with that when a boy walks up.
Make a project that is too tech savvy and people say, “But average kids can’t do that, they don’t identify with you.” Make simple projects with accessible dollar store materials to inspire kids to make and people say. “That’s not world changing, anyone can make that.”🤦🏼♀️
So tomorrow I take my written test for Driver’s Ed. Then I start my driving hours with a different instructor the next day.

There should be a
@SharkTankABC
Jr. I know that the Sharks say, their show isn’t a great fit for kid investors/entrepreneurs unless they plan to quit school. How about different investors who have the ability to work with kids schedules. I need manufacturing and distribution.
They are of course all now in the office. But their thoughts are more than valid and were exactly what I had going through my head when I was hearing all this “Do it for your school” stuff. Backwards.
Watching
@donttrythis
learning how to pound armor on

Kindergarten girls are indeed brutal. Once they found out my favorite color was neon green, that I liked space, robots, and Buzz Lightyear they told me “Real girls don’t like those things, only boys do.” Make sure your kindergartners know better.
