As I said: a tragic fiasco. The Court of Appeal quashed Khan’s indeterminate sentence and replaced it with a fixed term one instead, meaning he was free to commit today’s attack. Solid work chaps.

This lends credence to today’s reporting that the US is leaving Syria. If that’s actually the new policy it has the potential to be a catastrophe. And I can’t believe for a second the advice Trump is getting from CIA or DoD is that Isis is a goner - because it obviously isn’t.

Perhaps such people exist, but I’ve yet to see anybody say that Baghdadi’s death ends the threat from ISIS. So why are there about 2,628 tweets on my timeline warning that Baghdadi’s death does not equal ISIS’ demise, as if this is a bold and contrarian insight?

In May 2018, an asylum seeker from Syria stabbed three people in the Hague while yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’. His mental health issues were addressed in the press, as was the intent of the assailant’s family to sue the institution that cared for him. 9/

Germany: A series of crashes caused by a 30-year-old Iraqi man on a Berlin highway was an Islamic extremist attack, prosecutors told the German news agency dpa. Six people were injured, three of them severely.

2. I’m not celebrating or getting carried away. I prefer to focus on areas for improvement. For instance, 56% British Muslims haven’t heard of Prevent. This suggests that awareness can be improved. Thankfully, there appears to be a strong appetite for more engagement.
