I answer all fans who email, including one guy who regularly sent drawings and messages over the last three years.
Gutted this morning after his mum emailed to say that he'd killed himself aged 14 and that she'd always remember the hours he spent reading my books.
RIP dude 😭
Happy 30th birthday James Adams!
You were 11 when you first came into my head, while I was planning CHERUB: The Recruit.
I wrote a note saying you were born 23/10/91. So I guess you turn 30 today.
Wherever you are now, I hope you're doing something fun to celebrate!
20 years since I started writing The Recruit and 6 since I wrote the last CHERUB book.
When fans ask questions about the series I'm increasingly aware that I can't remember a damned thing!
Today is the 15th anniversary of the publication of CHERUB: Class A. Follow me & retweet to win a signed copy plus CHERUB goodies!

My last two books:
Arctic Zoo - About a girl who starts a protest movement with school strikes (written pre-Greta)
Killer T - About a lethal global virus pandemic.
I'm now thinking of doing a book about a kids author called Rob who wins Euromillions...
Got asked eleven times yesterday.
Five times today and it's not even noon.
If I die, my funeral will surely be interrupted by someone ripping the lid off my coffin for one final chance to ask if there's going to be a CHERUB movie...
Once again the UK government has ignored my entirely fair and sensible suggestion that all exam grades are based upon the number of my books that you've read.
With awful
#ArtemisFowl
reviews and the dumpster fire most movies based on UK kids books turn into, they should just give us authors money to make movies.
And if a Hollywood studio drops me $150 mil to make a
#CHERUB
movie, I'll be TOTALLY responsible with their cash, I swear.
With so many kids authors putting wholesome home learning materials online, I'm tempted to do some CHERUB themed ones, like 'Drug Dealing for Beginners,' or 'Start Your own Religious Cult for Fun & Profit.'
Win this goodie pack, containing a rare signed
#RobinHood
proof copy,
#CHERUB
Campus poster, plus New Guard, bookmarks & more!

Theres an article on 20 years of CHERUB in today's Guardian newspaper that includes the rather fabulous line, "James Adams would definitely want to give Alex [Rider] a good slap."

Socially distanced delivery person: "I saw the name and wondered if this is for the author Robert Muchamore?"
Me: "Yes."
Delivery person, "Does he live here?"
Me, "I'm Robert Muchamore."
Delivery person, "Oh sorry... I thought you'd be a lot younger."
Hope this
#AlexRider
TV show is a success, because if something is a hit it's easier to make other stuff in the same genre, like
#CHERUB
.
But WHY is 14yo Alex played by a a 22 year old actor who looks like a uni student???
They discovered a batch of long lost CHERUB beanies in the
@HachetteKids
warehouse.
I'll do a
#giveaway
soon, but for now here's a picture of one one being worn by a high end fashion model.

Robin Hood III is just one week away! What better way to prepare than by winning signed copies of books 1&2?
I've got two pairs of books up for grabs.
Follow me and retweet this post by midnight Monday to enter!
And finally, the big announcement of my first new series in six years!
Set in the roaring 2020s, twelve-year-old Robin is on the run after his dad is framed by Locksley's corrupt Police Department!

Hard to believe today is the 6th anniversary of the publication of my final CHERUB book.
My publisher put on a wrap party at a swanky bar in Covent Garden, which must have been good because I can't remember a thing...
Four years ago today I published Killer T. It's a book about a global pandemic, with lockdowns, social distancing and vaccine boosters.
Given my awesome predictive powers, my next book will be about a handsome 50yo author called Rob who wins Euromillions...
People often talk about the power of books for teenagers. I especially remember getting cornered by a thug in my secondary school library and whacking him in the balls with a big thesaurus.
Over the years I've had lots of messages from parents thanking me for writing books that their kids enjoyed.
But
@RockRoseGin
made theirs the best ever by adding, 'We own a small distillery and would like to send you a free bottle of gin!’
Only five weeks until the release of Robin Hood III: Jetskis, Swamps & Smugglers.
FOLLOW me and RETWEET this post by Monday 7th for your chance to win a signed copy of my first two Robin Hood books, plus goodies.
I reply to every fan who contacts me, but those asking for advice on serious stuff need to know that beyond my core skill of writing kids books I'm basically an idiot...
It always amazes me how short the gap can be between, 'I can't move, I ate too much, I feel sick,' and, 'Oooh, there's a pack of Jaffa Cakes in the cupboard.'
It's been weird releasing my new Robin Hood series during
#lockdown
, but this morning I got two e-mails from fans asking if they could play Robin in a movie and only one asking if they could play James Adams from CHERUB.
Must mean SOME kids out there are enjoying it!
You know you're in the writing zone when you don't realise you've scoffed a whole pack of Jaffa Cakes until you find your fingers fumbling blindly inside the empty box...
Robin Hood has had the best reviews of anything I've ever written and ten weeks after publication, UK fans can finally buy it in an actual proper bookshop!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
At the start of 2018 my New Year resolutions were to increase my bacon intake by 37%, drink way more beer and put on 12kg.
I'm delighted to announce that I managed all three.
HERE'S TO ALL MY FANS HITTING THEIR GOALS IN 2019!
My books and series all have crossover characters & links, like Mr Large in Rock War & Brigands MC in my 2020 Robin Hood series.
I call this the Muchamore Creative Universe, or
#MCU
for short...
Delighted to announce I've signed up to write four more Robin Hood books for
@HotKeyBooksTeen
Here's the planned publishing schedule:
Robin Hood 4: Drones, Dams and Destruction - Feb 22
Robin Hood 5: July 22
Robin Hood 6: March 23
Robin Hood 7: July 23
Robin Hood 8: March 24
Big shout out for
@RobertMuchamore
today. My friend’s dyslexic 11-year-old has always been really reluctant to read. She just told me he’s read 16 Cherub novels since the summer and she has to stop him reading too late at night! Thank you and your lovely agent
@ClarePearson_EP
Apparently over 100 schools and 3,000+ kids are signed up for my Robin Hood III virtual launch event on Thursday. So I'd better make sure Zoom is working on my new PC!
Latest fan e-mail:
"I am high school student from Portugal that starts a 1 month quarantine. I was thinking a positive point is that I will read the entire collection of CHERUB again!"
A Ferrari just parked in front of my house with the roof down. The temptation to go upstairs and bomb the interior with chocolate ice cream is almost overpowering...
Just found that my work in progress has two chapter eights followed by a chapter seven then another chapter eight.
The whole counting to ten thing is clearly beyond me and I might have to revise with a few episodes of Sesame Street...
The best thing about planning a new book is that it gives me an excuse to say, 'I'll be spending the day plotting,' in my most dastardly supervillan accent.
Tweet made me smile, because I remember writing this line in CHERUB: New Guard and feeling emotional knowing this was going to be the last time I wrote about these characters!
Usually I wake up today and it's like, 'OMG, September already, where did this year go?'
But 2020 feels more like an elderly snail going up a steep hill into a strong headwind, on a day when he's feeling particularly demotivated.
The praise I get from young fans keeps me going. Today's e-mail nugget:
'Nobody at my school has heard of you, but I like your books and don't worry because they're not bad.'
