Finwood Top 40, week 36
- There's a new
#1
... and it might be a surprising one for those who know me.
- The highest entrants are two American superstars.
- Snow Patrol is the biggest riser.
- Luca Hänni grabs the Hit Smasher with his catchy new single!
October Rain/Hurricane should not have won anything, much less Eurovision. Juries thankfully tanked Eden, and she didn't even win the televote. Stay in your fucking lane.
Eurovision said it was “too political.”
But tonight, our Queen, Eden Golan, who heroically faced off the haters of Europe, performed ‘October Rain’, the song that should’ve won Eurovision, for the first time in public, at the Tel Aviv Hostages Square rally.
William Lee Adams on 'Solo' by Blanka:
- "She's walking on her own name, in case she forgets it."
- "Yes girl, give us nothing."
- "Honestly, our girl needs a Coca-Cola."
- "It's giving me Junior Eurovision."
- "Even the pyro looks sad."
- "Solo implies 1, but this song is a 0."
She's right. This is not the year to say "OMG, televote winner robbed" when Israel supporters basically hijacked the televote. Besides, the difference between Switzerland and France/Croatia in the jury vote was too big, anyway.
Things you shouldn't do:
- Dislike.
- Leave any type of comment.
Things you should do:
- Ignore the video.
- Report for promoting terrorism.
- Tell YouTube you're not interested.
Disliking and leaving comments is engagement and feeds the YT algorithm.
Well, y'all know what to do:
- Vote for other songs in the semi so that Israel does not make the final.
- Mute Israel when they come on, or switch channels.
- If you have tickets for any ESC show Israel is in, boo as loud as you can when Eden performs.
I know people want to get rid of juries at ESC, but we desperately need them to save quality songs like A Monster Like Me, No One, Quédate conmigo, Milim, Mall, Walk on Water, Lights and Shadows, Saudade saudade, Proud, etc.
She's a homophobic TVP puppet who cannot hold a note for dear life. I'm sorry, but Solo is the kind of mid, trashy summer bop we've heard a million times before and it has absolutely no business being in the Grand Final.
Oh, fuck off, Wild Youth are anything but misogynists; if anything, they are extremely supportive of people with a different sexuality or gender identity. You're just trying to lambast them for firing Ian Banham because it fits your transphobic narrative.
The re-traumatisation of female rape survivors, including this man’s victims, on seeing him called a woman by the press counts for nothing, naturally. The so-called kindness and inclusivity of
@bandwildyouth
is preening, self-satisfied misogyny.
#IStandWithIanBanham
As per usual, Let 3 are probably just trolling, but I can't help but be creeped out. These are full-grown men in their 60s talking about wanting to have an orgie with guys who are barely in their 20s...
This is going to be a long, LONG Eurovision season.
“Slovenia is sending Joker Out to Eurovision with Carpe Diem. Have you heard it and what is your comment of our neighbor’s song?”
“They are handsome boys, we would love to play with them if we got a chance, maybe we’ll stick carnations up our asses or have some group s*x.”
🌸🍑
What is she trying to achieve with this? She's definitely not going to represent Greece now, and by delaying the selection process she's keeping a literal child from his dream of worldwide exposure at the biggest music event in the world. Kid's 16. (!)
Here in the Netherlands we have:
- no school shootings (or guns in general)
- lower crime rates
- affordable health care/health insurance
- reliable public transit
- labor protection laws
- fresh, unprocessed foods
- non-discriminatory laws
etc.
"Our superstars would obliterate everyone."
"I think if we lost, it'd be out of pure hatred, not lack of talent."
No luv, it'd be because your song isn't good enough. Star status doesn't mean shit in Eurovision. Besides, no one wants the USA there, you'd be sore fucking losers.
Hopelijk wint Samantha Steenwijk het kort geding tegen Yvonne Coldeweijer. Het wordt tijd dat die troela en haar zogenaamde 'juicekanaal' aan banden wordt gelegd.
@LizzieCharlton
Oh, he is? I've come across him on Twitter before and he seems to be very vocal on American politics and he has a large American following as well. Oops. 😳
No one complained about the two Amens last year, right? Why being offended because an atheist is voicing her own beliefs in a song? She's just saying she is atheist, not that everyone should be one. Christian hypocrisy at its finest.
I know this statement is a whole lot of nothing, but at least these artists are saying SOMETHING and I think we need them in Eurovision as a voice against Israel/in support of Palestine. (1/2)
.
@EBU_HQ
@Eurovision
In light of the current war crimes Israel is committing against innocent Palestinian citizens, I - and many other Eurovision fans - call out to the EBU to ban Israel from future editions of the Eurovision Song Contest.
@LG939
It's not, and it's one of the few instances he's actually right. Plus, he always tries to say something positive about every song, and the fact that he didn't say anything positive about Solo ain't a good sign, either. 😬
@Roman3romam3
They. Bambie is non-binary. And congrats on supporting a genocide state. I'm sure you're still listening to the Israeli song, because it's such masterpiece. (!)
@Framtidsfisk
I think the juries WERE mostly unbiased. It was a mid song with a mid performance, and I'm surprised it got as many points as it got in the first place.
I really don't understand why everybody is hyping up Sekret, because the song is annoying and sounds unfinished. No, Alban's vocals aren't great, but people forget it's just a rehearsal. No need to bash Alban himself just because you want Ronela to win.
@redbullsvviings
Actually, I think Austria will get a similar result as Hatari and Subwoolfer: very few points from the juries + a moderate/decent televote result = 10th place in the Grand Final.
@redbullsvviings
Everybody is like, "YAASSS QUEEN, SLAY!!!" As usual. I'm getting quite sick of it now; the whole song is a hot mess and this rehearsal clip is giving gymnast girl vibes. 😂
And fan favorite Love Injected also did much better with juries than televoters.
I know juries make some questionable choices sometimes, but so do televoters. If the people at home had had it their way, Moldova would have come 2nd this year.
Listen, I might not take British newspapers too seriously, but I am ABSOLUTELY not taking YOU seriously. Stop pinkwashing you fucking hypocrites, gay marriage isn't even legal in Israel.
Leave. Our. Community. Out. Of. This.

My last thoughts about 'Thank God I'm an Atheist': from what I understand, Christians think it's offensive because it's 'promoting' atheism. I think Olivera is just singing about her personal struggles and how her not being religious helped her overcome them.
In my opinion, it's not the point distribution that needs an overhaul in the televote's favor. It's the juries themselves; the EBU needs to expand the juries to 10 or more people per country - people from different branches of the entertainment sector.
so i tried to take a look at the results if we had 60% televote and 40% jury and it ends up like this. idk how i feel? i guess it’s a better system?
(obvs don’t trust my maths and idk how the EBU would acc calculate the results if they did this but yeah)
We don't care. We've seen the lyrics and they're clearly still political, referring to the October 7 attacks, but there's no excuse whatsoever for the tens of thousands of deaths Israel is responsible for.
#BanIsraelfromEurovision
Ben ik trouwens de enige die de Top 2000 à Gogo beter vindt met Herman van der Zandt dan met Matthijs van Nieuwkerk? Herman is in ieder geval niet zo... aanwezig.
Why? Reading this article, it seems the EBU even approved Ulveham in its current form. There is absolutely no need to change the lyrics of the song. This feels like the show is rigged for that stupid AI song, doesn't it?
It's the people who don't like Rim Tim Tagi Dim that are most vocal about Baby Lasagna being
#1
in the odds and having a shot at winning Eurovision, just because THEIR favorites aren't leading the odds.
okay so we..
-support independent artists
-want genre diversity
-want a new country to win
-want a balkan win
but NOT him.
y’all won’t shut the fuck up about him - makes me think he’s really got a shot like how y’all were rabid over Käärijä.
#eurovision
Because Zdob și Zdub had the better song, while Chanel had the better performance. Honestly, SloMo is just an annoying, rubbish song without that choreography.
Guys, I love Rim Tim Tagi Dim just as much as the next person, but Baby Lasagna has to win Dora first, and I don't see that as the easiest task for him right now.
@xamogelogr
I condemn Hamas as well. Doesn't mean I don't also condemn Israel for the death of 35,000+ innocent women and children who are now dead because of them.
@redbullsvviings
But these are not unpopular opinions. An unpopular opinion would be: 'Running Scared is actually good and I totally understand why it won.'
...which I do. I really like Running Scared. 😂
It is never wrong to just be yourself at any time and any place. Nobody else but you knows how you feel about yourself. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Even if Iceland were to withdraw completely, they wouldn't be replaced with any participants from semi 1, and semi 2 would have had 16 participating countries instead of 17. Croatia had their chance yesterday night. They didn't qualify.
We also have:
- bike lanes
- a multi-party political system
- a reliable police force
- well-maintained infrastructure
- sturdy houses
- the Eurovision Song Contest
America could never. Everything and everyone there is bigger, faster and louder, but definitely not better.
At this point I feel like people are just saying stuff because they're bored. Estonia NQ, Finland NQ, Belgium NQ, Croatia NQ, Switzerland NQ... what the hell did y'all sniff? 😂
'Zero tolerance policy', my ass. Where was this energy when the Israeli delegation harrassed other artists, filming them without their consent and calling them antisemites? Shame on you.

Gehypete programma's die me echt geen reet kunnen interesseren:
- Expeditie Robinson
- Boer zoekt vrouw
- Temptation Island
- Wie is de mol?
- Chateau Meiland
I feel the exact same... and I'm Dutch. I was literally on the verge of tears when Joost got disqualified, and when the possibility of an Israeli victory became a serious threat, I screamed. This has been such a feverish week and I am relieved it's over.
I cannot tell you the last time I cried every day for a week. I cried in sadness. I cried in anger. I cried in frustration. I cried for people.
EBU, fix your shit because you’ve been shit.
The Croatians are going wild about their entry this year, just like the Finnish people with Cha cha cha last year. This is absolutely phenomenal to see! 🥰
We need a Eurovision song that is not a girl bop or (borders on being a) joke entry. Enter 'My Friend' by Ollie. He's absolutely miles ahead of everyone else in the Eesti Laul final.
Please keep in mind the artists involved signed contracts with their broadcasters to represent their country at ESC and can't just withdraw willy-nilly. If they do, they'll probably receive a big fine, and especially the 'smaller' artists simply cannot afford that. (2/2)
Not the Spanish people being dumb in the QRTs.
'bUt It'S kIeV iN sPaNiSh.'
'nOt SpAnIsH pEoPlE wRiTiNg SpAnIsH.'
'Kiev' is not Spanish. It's Russian, and a lot of countries adopted the Russian spelling due to Ukraine being a former Soviet nation. (1/2)
@EscClap
Tusse. If Malta and France don't get enough televotes and Lithuania, Italy and San Marino don't get the jury support, Sweden might run away with a victory. Also, Sweden is a jury darling and I don't see them NOT being in their top 3.
