In 1998, Imagineer released a Medarotch (Medawatch) toy. It works like a simple digital watch but when you insert a medal, it starts a raising minigame where you can acquire Medabots part by walking and shaking the watch, and doing maintenance by playing minigames.

Between 2007-2008, Medabots' creator Horuma Rin published a doujin manga series called "Meda 2043", about the adventures of Ikki's Metabee in a cyberpunk future. The series was abruptly cancelled when Imagineer restarted work on Medabots and invited him to work on Medarot DS.

Rejected Medarot 7 concept for a new Medabot called "Black Bass", described as "An old black bass that has escaped many a fisherman, covered in the lures from their failed attempts". This was when the game was only known to the public as "Medarot 3D". #メダロット

Why are Medabots gendered? Rin Horuma explained in that he wanted to include feminized robots, but that it was thought that young boys wouldn't be interested. Female tinpets and parts be rare and difficult to get so that boys would still be incentivized in grabbing them.

It's May 4 in JST, so happy 25th to Medarot: Perfect Edition! Released in 1999 for the Wonderswan, this remake of Medarot 1 keeps the game balance the same but features redrawn graphics, more dialogue and a generous heaping of quality of life features. #メダロット

Artist Kenki Fujioka is the author of the Medarotter Rintarou and Medarot R mangas, and is also the primary artist for Medarot Navi and its manga adaptation. During his time on the series, he designed many iconic Medabots such as Arcbeetle, Blazermate and Blossomail (Redrun).
