UPS just delivered a package, sent through the Cavs, by Beth McLeod. In it was a tie, because her late husband Fred loved those. I, along with many members of the media and Cavs organization, will wear it proudly on opening night
NBA games are too often over-analyzed by people who don't understand the sport. The Cavs lost tonight, on the road, to a very good team, after having won a very tough game on the road the night before. The end!
This touching photo was sent to me by the father of the young boy in it, who waited patiently to get Drew Allar's autograph after a season-ending loss to St. Edward. WHAT A CLASS ACT, the boy's dad wrote of Allar

JR won't shoot, no longer defends; Crowder shoots too much, doesn't
scrap; TT overmatched many nights, invisible on some; IT making Kyrie look like
passer and defender; LeBron piling up turnovers; Lue refuses to make changes.
And Cavs are worried about Love missing practice???
LJ on Osman:
"His purity of the game is
infectious to our entire team. He hasn't been in many situations, so he's not
going to trip about what's going on."
Annual football game between Brunswick and Medina will be called the Tom Fasko Gridiron Classic. Fasko, who died on Oct. 8, 2020 at age 62 following a heart attack, served as head coach at both schools. Teams will meet Friday

It's not much nationally, but Jon Teske played 56 seconds for the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday and got a steal. First player from Medina County to play in an NBA game

Hope to have column from last night posted soon, but wanted to share this quote from Bees defensive tackle Nick Manley, because one sentence speaks volumes: "I got to play my last game with the same kids I played my first one with."
@medinaathletics
Anyone else having Sasha Pavlovic, Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Damon Jones flashbacks of 07? Or Mo Williams, Shaq, Szczerbiak, Moon, Delonte of 08, 09 and 10?
The word "legend" is thrown around too easily, but Joe Tait truly was a legend in NE Ohio. Beyond that, he was a class act and my friend!! RIP, Joe, there will never be another one like you!!
LeBron on criticism he didn't rally team together during break between regulation and OT: "We're in the NBA Finals. How much more picking up do you want me to do?"
The Cavs finished the regular season
39-0 when they led after three quarters, becoming the first team since the
advent of the shot clock in 1954-55 to go unbeaten when leading after three.
Chicago went 64-1 in 1995-96.
No disrespect to The Beard, but LeBron James, at his present pace, totally deserves to win a 5th MVP award. He set the bar so high for himself so early in his career, but his greatness deserves to be recognized
If
@AllarDrew
isn't Mr. Football it will be an absolute shame, regardless of what happens from here on out. That said, Bees proved tonight, especially on defense, that they're a true team.

Cavs now listing Garland at 192 pounds, up from 175 as rookie. Nance raved about youngster's work during team's bubble workouts, calling him best player on court and saying he dominated at times
Found out Sunday I will receive Dick Zunt Award at the March 6 National Football Foundation banquet in Westlake. It is given periodically to someone who has devoted many years to covering prep football. Previous winners have included Dan Coughlin, Eddie Dwyer, Don Friedman
I've got no problem with Beilein. And I'm guessing that if there are complainers on his roster, it's probably the guys who most need to learn how to play the game of basketball and would benefit most from his coaching if they listened
Brunswick AD John Justice, a Berea graduate, is leaving to take the same job at Berea-Midpark. Justice will be replaced at Brunswick by Jim Kovi. It was an absolute pleasure working with Justice, who is as good as they come and did an incredible job!

This is my mom on her 25th wedding anniversary. She died 3 years later of ovarian cancer. Not a day has gone by since where I haven't wished I could ask her advice about something!
D-Rose: You are 29. You are going to get $70 million over next 6 years from Adidas. You have a sprained ankle, not facing major ACL surgery. Come to senses and return to NBA. In a handful of years, you won't have that option.

If you decline to play in an All-Star Game for any reason other than a legit, provable injury, you should lose the distinction of being an All-Star (and all contract bonuses that might come with it) for that season
Lemme get this straight: Korver played 3:38 in the first period and, despite the Cavs being down 8 going into the 4th quarter, never played again. And he wasn't hurt!!!! And Jeff Green, George Hill and Rodney Hood weren't doing much at all. Wow!
Thanks to LeBron for the title and all the thrills, best of luck in the future, but goodbye, this time for good! wide variety of emotions/reactions, but sums up how I feel
Sad, sad news: Former

football coach Tom Fasko, who led the Blue Devils to the 1995 D-I state title game, has passed away. Please keep his family in your thoughts
Really don't think this series has a ton to do with whether LeBron stays or goes. It's more family vs. bball, and unlike 2010 there's not another place that makes great sense. Wouldn't be surprised if he signs a 1-year deal (with player option), and makes big decision in 2019
After commenting on each of his six primary receivers Sunday night, Medina QB Drew Allar sent me a text today asking me to add one more WR who returned from injury in Week 9. He even included a quote like I had requested for the others the previous night!!
@medinaathletics
starting with LeBron not having an official FGA attempt until Cavs were down 28-10 through myriad questionable decisions by Lue, this may be most confounding playoff game I've witnessed in 32 years covering team
I don't know if anything is better in high school sports than the postseason ... as long as we remember the athletes on both sides are kids playing a game!!
On a team that is going ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE this season, to not play Ante Zizic on a night when you didn't have Love is mind-boggling. Call me crazy, but I'd be starting the kid even when Love is healthy!
Good win by Browns, but learn this from it: Don't shackle an on-fire Baker and go into a shell in the second half. Got someone down, keep doing what you did to get that lead and stomp them!!!
Luke Skaljac was a very, very polished point guard when I saw him as a sophomore at
@bbhathletics
, and he's only gotten better. 32 pts tonight, and they came easy. Already D-I offers from close to a half-dozen D-I colleges with another year to play.
Instead of Meek Mill's "Dreams & Nightmares," may I suggest Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It," because Ty Lue has to figure out a way to maximize Kevin Love and hide defensive weaknesses in this series
The Cavs' Dan Gilbert and Koby Altman constantly preach about culture, character, due diligence, yada, yada, yada. Then they repeatedly contribute to the franchise's dysfunction and instability
