I've heard that today is
#BookLoversDay
! If you want to make this book worm's day take a look at my recently released psychological thriller about a secret society operating in the City of London. Reviews describe it as "gripping" and "tense".
I see a lot of early morning writers but is anyone else a late night writer? Particularly a 10pm writer? Far too tired in a morning to do anything useful

This. I do most my writing between 9pm and 11pm because it’s the only way I can fit it in. Sometimes I write even when I’d rather be watching Netflix or reading, because otherwise the words won’t get done.
Back at work today but that didn't stop me - set my alarm for 5.30am, stumbled out at 6 and managed an hour on my WIP before the dogs woke up.
There is no secret to writing a novel. It's just sheer hard work and dedication.
#WritingCommunity
Every writer has their bad habits. Mine seems to be my obsession with eyes. Reading through my book and everyone is looking, gazing, glancing, staring and even “eyeing up” all over the place ✂️ ✂️
I’m a 1/3 through editing a first draft. Honestly editing is so up and down. Some chapters I barely tinker with and I’m like “wow I was on roll when I wrote this” and others “what is this? Why is every second word misspelt? Why have we randomly changed characters’ names?”
My WIP is set (mostly) in a law firm. I also happen to work in one. It’s really helpful as every time I go into the office (which is most days) I seem to get more ideas and content
Prologue or no Prologue? I feel people are either very for or very against. I personally like them but have heard some agents despise them...
#WritingCommunity
Thank you everyone who congratulated me on finishing my first draft! The
#WritingCommunity
is so lovely. I baked myself a cake to celebrate (not that I need a reason to eat cake).
My debut novel (coming this Summer) is a thriller set in a law firm. I chose to set it there because I know what the industry can be like (thankfully not all firms/people but there are "bad apples" and still far too many of them)🍎
Psychological thriller writers - I really recommend
@gbpoliceadvisor
and
@DrCJMerritt
for their author advice sessions. I had two really good sessions about the police procedural / mental health aspects of my WIP and it feels like it’s going to be way more authentic as a result
#WordCountWednesday
: I’m a little bit behind but trying to make up for it. Realistically, even if I miss all my targets by 1-2k words a week, the first draft should still be done by mid-June 🤞
I’ve decided I want a white board to help me with plotting. I thought buying a whiteboard would be a simple task, but let me tell you, there are SO MANY OPTIONS. You can get fancy glass ones, coloured ones, folding ones. It’s a whole new world.
In case you missed it last week - my debut thriller about ambitious women who will do anything to get to the top including become part of a secret society who aims to help you get there...but at what cost?
Bloggers - it's on NetGalley!

No

today because I finished my WIP and now I’m editing. I wrote 40k words in 2 months which for me is something I’m really proud of
I've reached 100 reviews on NetGalley. That means at least 100 people have read
#TheClique
and that is absolutely crazy. I can't get my head around that many people reading a book I mostly wrote in bed watching Netflix

If I can reach 60k words by the end of the month (I'm at 53k). That should mean I can reach 80k by the end of Feb which should finish my first draft of my WIP 🤞

“The idea of a book you haven’t written yet is always more exciting than the book you’re currently writing.” - Great advice from
@ChristinaRoseSB
. Also nice to see another lawyer succeeding!
This a great post. I definitely worried about saying the wrong thing. I got introduced to some authors whose books I absolutely love and I was too scared to tell people how much I love their books in case they found it irritating for some reason!
Also I'm working on my new book and I had an absolute genius idea while lounging by the pool today. So my tip for writers is step away from the laptop and go on holiday 🏖️
I have about 20 pages left to read over and then I can send book 2 off to my editor. If how hard a book is to write is any indication of how good it is then book 2 must be a masterpiece
Read two fantastic books already this holiday. The Resort by

People with

: do you ever worry a book will come out with an almost identical plot to the one you are writing? It’s my worst fear

Looking back at my goals for this year and I’m happy to say I met them all. I finished book 1 and I’m over 1/4 through drafting book 2. Hoping 2022 is the year I get an agent 🤞
