Not sure if this is out there but every single time Jack Campbell has debuted for a NHL team, it has been against the Ducks.
His first and only game as a Star was against the Ducks. His debut as a King was against the Ducks, and now his debut as a Leaf is against the Ducks.
This is not a drill. Trevor Zegras has been added to the Ducks roster on their website. Which means he was not a taxi squad addition, he was called straight up
Zegras deserves a ton of praise for his effort tonight. Seems like he took the benching on the chin or as a challenge because he was all over the ice tonight like he was last Sunday.
Oh and Carlsson is so good. I’m buzzing right now
I have absolutely no clue how people are getting to the conclusion that they are by "lip reading" this. Feels like it was started by a bunch of people that already dislike Zegras and saw what they wanted to see because they are lip reading experts now.
Tonight will only be the third time all season the Ducks have had Zegras, Carlsson, Terry, Killorn, McTavish, Strome, and Vatrano all in the lineup at the same time.
Adam Fantilli is an absolutely amazing amazing player. He won the hobey baker this year as a true freshman and would have gone first in any other draft since basically Jack Hughes
Holy crap. On the 32 thoughts podcast,
@JeffMarek
dropped the nugget that Zellweger tracks absolutely everything fitness wise and when the Ducks asked Zellweger how many calories he takes in, he said between 5700-5800.
So the Ducks have moved out:
Manson (50% retained)
Deslauriers
Lindholm (50% retained)
And have received:
2023 2nd
Helleson
2023 3rd
2022 1st
2023 2nd
2024 2nd
Moore (contract throw in)
Vaakanainen
Huge deadline for the Ducks
So I guess Zegras got a 10 minute misconduct for tossing his stick into the crowd last night even though Jack Hughes did the same exact thing earlier this year with no penalty. It doesn’t really matter but it’s still very dumb
The funniest part of all of this is I really don’t care if Zegras wins or doesn’t win the Calder. I think it would be cool but not going to lose sleep over it. I’m just really happy the Ducks have an exciting, fun, and good young player to build around.
I am not sure Trevor Zegras has gotten enough love so far this season. Even though it hasn’t shown up on the score sheet yet, he is off to a monster start in terms of controlling the puck and generating chances. He is clearly starting to take that next step in his game to me
That is Trevor Zegras’ 60th point on the season. Terry is at 65 points.
The last time the Ducks had two 60+ point scorers was 17-18 when Rakell had 69 points and Getzlaf had 61 points.
What’s crazy to think about is Zegras and Terry did it primarily not playing together.
With that Ducks loss, they finish the season 32nd in the league and have the following probabilities locked in for the draft lottery. They not only have the best odds at Bedard, but they are locked into a top 3 pick this draft, which has a clear cut top 4.
Major props to everyone with the
@AnaheimDucks
social media and in arena team, along with the
@BallySportWest
crew for making tonight’s game special for everyone both in the arena and at home.
The Ducks could now run:
Fowler Klingberg
Kulikov Drysdale
Vaakanainen Shattenkirk
By adding Kulikov that group looks significantly better, and there now is a viable partner for Drysdale
So the Ducks could be getting Fowler, Terry, and Henrique back tonight. This could be the closest we have seen to a full roster in what seems like two months.
Something that really sticks out to me that is a stark difference from years past. Zegras and Terry were both on the ice defending a lead late, including when the opposing team pulled their goalie. That is how you not only develop younger players, but develop your team culture
I get the frustration about Chicago, but I am choosing to be stoked on Fantilli. Currently looking up all I can and watching all I can to have some good conversations on tonight's pod. He could be the best if not 2nd best player the Ducks have drafted at the time of the draft
Troy Terry now has 19 points in 14 games played which I believe will put him at 4th in the league in scoring behind only Draisaitl, McDavid, and Ovechkin
Dammit. I figured this was coming and I’m still emotional right now. It truly feels like an end of an era. I got really back into hockey during the 06 playoffs and it’s now hitting me just how important Getzlaf has been for my fandom. He truly is a legend for the Ducks.
Pierre Lebrun went on Sportscentre last night and said the following about Zegras. This will be a thread: “The Ducks have listened on Trevor Zegras, my understanding is they haven’t phoned a single team and brought up his name.
On July 31st my life was changed forever. My wife and I welcomed Luke Theodore Rudolph into this world! He is the sweetest little guy and I am so excited for what he is going to do in this world. Both him and my wife are healthy and doing great
Holy crap. Per
@EvolvingHockey
Zegras is sitting at 91% xGF%, Terry at 89% xGF%, and Carlsson at 86% xGF%. Also, LaCombe and Mintyukov are at 85%. ridiculous numbers at EV
Lukas Dostal deserves so much credit for the win yesterday. He posted 4.01 GSAx in the game and was so calm cool and collected in doing it. What always impresses me with Dostal is how efficient he is in his movement to challenge skaters and move from post to post.
I am just seeing the salt from some Red Wings fans in reply to the Zegras move. It’s never going to stop being funny to me how sensitive they are about it.
I have thoughts as you can imagine on Zegras being benched and its not able to be in a simple tweet so here comes a thread. I think this was probably Zegras' worst game of the season prior to the 3rd period, but that is not because he was bad but due to the high bar he has set.
I really can’t wait for Zegras to return to the lineup so hopefully all of these rumors go away. It’s extremely frustrating that nearly every single one completely misses the important detail about what a return would have to be for the Ducks to move him.
The schedule makers did the ducks no favors with how this early season has shaked out but the Ducks have played significantly better than the 1-4 record suggests. Tonight’s game might have been their best overall
A special player and humble leader in our locker room and community throughout his 11 seasons in Anaheim.
Congratulations on a great career, Silfvy!
Jakob Silfverberg will retire from the NHL at the conclusion of this season.
Details ➡️
The ironic part of the Nash clip is at the end he is up in arms about the Zegras cross check to an injured player, which is a bad play, but he defended to his last breath Beagle punching a defenseless Terry last season. I hate team biased commentary.
Comparing the logo that leaked earlier to the original logo you can see the stick blade does not stick out as far and looks more like a modern hockey stick and the top of the stick extends a bit more than the original. Overall I like the updates to the sticks
So it seems like the Dadonov trade is going to get voided, which is a bummer because I really liked that deal. It’s no fault of Verbeek’s either. He tried to make a creative move to weaponize cap space, but the incompetence of Vegas and Ottawa reared its ugly head on this one.
One thing I’m wondering listening to some of the national coverage of Zegras and the “rumor” surrounding him, is that is Trevor Zegras one of the most misunderstood/underrated players in the league?
When Trevor Zegras is on, which happens a lot at this point, he might be one of my favorite players to watch in the league because of the amount of flair, swagger, and deception his game has.
I am starting to think that Mintyukov is a sneaky Calder candidate. He is most likely going to put up the points needed by a d man to enter the conversation and he has been extremely effective outside of that
You love to see Greg Cronin noticing what a lot of us have, which is a significantly improved effort and work rate in the d zone along with continual offensive chances. Zegras will be just fine
Just now realizing I have tickets for the final home game of the season and I’m so thankful that I’ll be there for Getzlafs final game at Honda Center.
I met Quincy Rohrbach through the Morgan Adams Foundation. She’s a beautiful young lady with stage 4 cancer. Her favorite hockey player is Trevor Zegras. So, for Christmas week, Trevor invited Quincy to a practice where she was showered with gifts. And then Trevor did this…
Trevor Zegras is now 1 point back of Lucas Raymond having played one less game and with a significantly lower sh%.
This could be a really fun Calder race
Sorry folks, I was a bit tied up during the game so I was watching on delay but I think we need to start a petition to change the colors to eggplant and jade permanently after tonight
With that Blackhawks win, the Ducks Blackhawks and Blue Jackets are all tied with 56 points in 77 games. The Ducks have the least amount of regulation wins, which means they have the best lottery odds currently
Just got back into service and saw Getzlaf broke the Ducks point record. Getzlaf is now the franchise leader in games played and points, and is the longest tenured captain in franchise history.
Congratulations to the greatest Duck of all time.
Poor night for the tank but great night for shithousery from Zegras. I legit laughed when he scored because of how poetic it was with how the game went down
Zegras is just so damn good. That play to get on McAvoy, who is one of the best 5 in 5 defenseman in the league, and strip him when he had full control and get a great scoring opportunity is so impressive
Overall this is fantastic news that Zegras has signed and it’s a perfectly good deal for both the Ducks and Zegras. This also gives Zegras nearly 12 days at camp to pick up Cronin’s new system, which should be more than enough time and that’s assuming he arrives tomorrow.
One of the best 60 minute performances from this team. Granted it was against the worst team in the league this season, but that type of game was really needed with the tough schedule the team has had so far.
That goal is what makes sports great. It’s about the memories that are created. Getzlaf did that for so many years for Ducks fans and he gave us one last parting gift.
After years of inactivity for the Ducks and the rebuild being as a result of the team being unintentionally bad, it is so refreshing and gives me so much hope that Verbeek seems to actually have a plan in place to turn this team into a contender.
Congratulations to the Avalanche and all of my followers that are Avs fans.
Now that the cup final is over though, it’s time for one of the biggest off seasons in Ducks history to begin.
