Huge result! Gov defeated on Cl11 in HofL on #BordersBill showing that Peers agree Cl11 isn’t acceptable and ensuring MPs get a say. As Lord Kerr said “if we leave Cl11 in this bill we don’t just betray our values, we don’t trash our reputation, we kill the Refugee Convention”

Well said Dr Waheed Arian. A very sad moment in the UK as Parliament passes the third reading of the Nationality and Borders Bill. It makes the UK an even more hostile place for people fleeing war and persecution and criminalises those coming via small boats over the Channel.

1/ Good news! The #BordersBill being debated in House of Lords. Just now the govt. threw everything at the peers, but wasn’t enough to stop Lord Kerr’s amendment to "diffuse" Clause 11, which seeks to punish refugees who arrive on back of lorries or via channel crossings.
