As referees, all we can control is our own preparation. Ensure you are fit and mobile enough to move around the pitch and give yourself the best possible opportunity to make the correct decision. Keep up to date with the LOTG and listen to those who offer advice ⚽️🏟

Yes, Paul Tierney was incorrect in law with the drop ball restart. Referees should never be incorrect in law, especially at the very top of the game. However, he is not to blame for Liverpools last minute goal and was correct to allow additional time.

Jared Gillet has received both criticism and support for yesterdays second caution on Lemina. There is a huge crack down in football at this moment around crowding the referee. The FA are set on stamping it out, Gillet was the first to do it on the national stage.

If a referee every made a mistake, as costly as Eric Diers, they’d be on a whole world of trouble. Not a flinch from team mates or Conte. No one running up and screaming in his face, but if a referee gets a throw in wrong, oh shit. #TOTLIV

It’s usually because the officials have explained a decision 3 or 4 times and get shouted over by players. You can only try and talk to players so much, before you give up and tell them to go away. That’s when they cry ‘you can’t speak to this ref.’ End of the season is close 🤞🏻

@refsupportuk Yes, an error and one the referee won’t ever make again. He will never do this again and will blow before, or well after the corner. It’s a learning point and a decision we’ve all made previously

There might be a lot of abuse aimed at referees, but the amount of support I’ve seen this evening and over the past few weeks for those getting promoted has been great to see! If you know of anyone getting reclassified, give them the same loving!!

For those who don’t know. Referees, at every level, lay out their expectations and tolerance levels prior to games. Taylor made it very clear he was going to have a very high threshold for free kicks and keep the game flowing. Also, the referee team are mic’d up…

I cannot remember any competition where at the quarter final stage, each game was so fiercely contested. That was a helluva round of quarter final games from everyone involved. #RugbyWorldCup

This will probably rattle and annoy some fellow referees but… I do not believe that any referee, officiates preseason, as they would do a league or cup game. Parts of the game are manageable and should be treated as such. Whereas others, SFP for example have to be dealt with.

@refsupportuk One of the strangest decisions we’ve all seen for sometime. Crazy that this has been awarded. No hope for officials on Saturday/Sunday

Look at the disgusting tribal nature in football. This happens at grounds a over the country and it is deemed acceptable. Why? In no over profession does this ever occur aside from policing
