It’s crazy how Gills can have a good win yet people’s first thought is to slag off players and Harris. One of Harris’ subs scored the winner and another in Walker made a good impact. The system looked better too. Pleased for the Gaffer today, really hope we can kick on from here.

Massive win Gills. Harris has halved the gap to safety from 10 to 5 in a week. We have to accept it’s not going to be pretty watching this season but to come in and have us concede once in three games after what he walked into is an incredible start.

This post on the Gills forum is spot on. Other than 2015/16 we’d spent most of our time back in League One looking over our shoulders. Evans and Raynor have ended that. This season hasn’t taken off but COVID, injuries and no crowds can’t have helped. I hope they stay next season.

The lack of a roof is an issue in bad weather but I’m not having it that it’s the worst away end around. At least you can actually have a really good view of the pitch. Kingsmeadow is the worst away end I’ve ever been in.

We’re an absolute carbon copy of Southend. People called it 18 months ago and were criticised for saying it. This demise of GFC was so predictable to so many. Scally just abandoning the club in this state is unforgivable, regardless of if he wants to sell, he’s the current owner.

Since the start of last season Gills’ managers have been Steve Evans and Neil Harris (two of the best we could ever attract for our level). We’ve played 47 league games in that time and won 8 of them. That says everything about what the root issue actually is.

John Marquis is just all round decent isn’t he. He’s a proper handful of a striker who scores a really good number of goals, and was over at the Rainham End clapping the Gills fans quicker than any of our own players at full-time today!

It’s poor that we’re a week from the season and Gills haven’t addressed fans about STs. We missed 5 home games last season, some may want/need refunds. Plenty have also already bought a ST for this season. An update on what plans/preparations are being put in place wouldn’t hurt.

Surprisingly don’t feel too dreadful about Gills but that’s probably because it was so deserved and expected. It’s the least competitive Gills squad I’ve ever seen. 1 win against top half opposition and 13 home goals all season. Glad to see the back of most of them.

Many of us have paid £400 for a season ticket at Gills the last few years, putting up with mostly dross. We get one semi-decent cup draw and the reward for our loyalty is to be charged more than normal match prices to sit in our own seat. I’ll pass thanks.

Gillingham need Steve Evans a lot more than Steve Evans needs Gillingham. If he walks tomorrow he’d have another job in League One within a month. The most disappointing thing is he seems to genuinely want to take our club forward, he’s just not being given the support to do so.

I get not everyone likes him but any Gills fan relishing the prospect of Evans leaving surely doesn’t realise how precarious a situation we’re in. Our manager leaving for Stevenage (no offence) for a better opportunity would be a shocking reflection on the state of our club.
