First day at
@Telegraph
✅
I'm interning across the community desk and helping in moderation for the next two weeks!
Feeling so lucky and grateful to have this opportunity.
Cried about four times today (both in and out of the ceremony). What a beautiful cohort I've just graduated with. The journo world is such a social little bubble. Feel so privileged to have grown alongside everyone, supporting each other through the degree and across the stage 💓
So relieved to say that I'm officially graduating with a first class degree (on an NCTJ accredited course too!). Makes all the late night exam revision so worth it. 2019 me would be so happy 💓 thank you so much
@sheffjournalism
for everything
i love journalism, i love the practical side of this course. but the way im giving it my all and still struggling to get by is taking such a toll on me. the exams, and the workload, everything is relentless. this is a very very hard course
Yesterday was full of inductions and intros but I am very pleased to say that I have joined the
@Telegraph
as a full time community moderator! Very pleased to be back with the team

exams
Because this time last year I opened my laptop back up and felt like I knew nothing, but a few weeks later I managed to get myself an A 🧵⬇️
Finished my degree yesterday. Starting my new grad job next month. Woke up this morning, took a spontaneous trip to London and am returning to Sheff with a house sorted to move in to in the next 20 days. Overwhelmed is an understatement. Life is crazy.
Having been at uni since 9am I decided to check the dress code for an event I'm going to tonight (6pm) at about 4.30pm. cocktail dress. I am in a Tramlines 2019 sweatshirt and jeans. SPRINT to the charity shops before it closes. Manage to pull this together in revs toilets
An amazing day of talks and tours at
@MediaCityUK
with
@ITV
. Without a doubt this is what I want to do. Thank you so much for your time
@ElaineWITV
and everyone else who took the time to speak to us and show us round!
#jusmediacity22
Another amazing event hosted by
@sheffjournalism
giving us insight, advice, contacts and the opportunity to shine at a crucial time in our careers. Thank you so much to the department for the continual support, I definitely won't forget it

work experience ✅
What an opportunity!
Had the immense privilege of shadowing most departments. Got to put together a package which should air during
@GMB
tomorrow morning, write some copy for web and even have a go at presenting! Thanks to everyone for having me
Posted my keys & moved the final bits from my old uni house at midnight last night because relocating has driven me so insane that I simply needed it behind me forever. Remind me to never do that again without a van. But as of 5.15 this morning I'm officially a London resident 😎
What a packed 2 weeks. Thank you so much
@Telegraph
for the incredible opportunity on work experience. I secured myself a byline, worked on some weekly roundups, attended development and strategy/ brainstorming meetings and was even trusted to moderate readers comments.
Bit of a crazy moment sharing an office with Nigel Farage today... shortly after his arrival I found myself helping on a live Q&A, taking notes for readers and moderating comments. Only halfway through this placement and I've learned things that I'll carry through my whole career
Three years ago I was sat in my childhood bedroom screaming the lyrics to
@JadeBirdMusic
trying to get a morsel of angst out, and tomorrow I'll be filming bits of her set from the VIP workers only bit right next to the stage. For my JOB.
I've enjoyed uni so much but equally it has absolutely drained me. I got formally diagnosed with ASD/ADHD in my foundation year at the age of 22, and I've been so aware of all my tendencies to mask ever since. I'm so relieved to have got through it 💓
First day at the new internship at
@showroomcinema
was a genuine delight! I'll be running the Freshers campaign until late September/ early October (and watching lots of movies along the way)
Handed in my final project today!!! The proudest achievement of my entire degree, I can't wait to share it. Only one deadline until I'm no longer a student 😢
Got a call this morning to tell me I had a successful application for a cool opportunity and I literally went "yippee!" down the phone. Why would I ever do that??
First radio newsday DONE ✅
Headline presenting isn't as daunting as i thought, but maybe that's because there's literally no time to panic 😅 don't think 8 hours has ever gone so quickly
I just realised I never shared my final project!
The product of 6 months work and something I'm really proud of- so thankful for all of
@lisabjourno
guidance as I was piecing this together and totally overwhelmed by life.
52 hours worked in 4 days (🤠) and a remaining 18 to go remotely. Created content/ copywrote for socials with 100k+ followers this weekend, tiktoks and reels created by us interns got over 150k views so far, got in the pit, and met so many industry professionals. Best job ever.
My absolute favourite part of being a journo is the interviewing. I feel so privileged to have an excuse to speak to so many people from such varied backgrounds, it makes it so hard to cut things from final copy
Having the best time at
#IJW21
reception and awards. The best end to a week of informative and inspirational talks. Thank you so much to
@binaogbebor
and
@ilya_yablokov
for organising, and a massive well done to my friend Max Jenz for winning the video award!! I'm so proud!
Had the pleasure of meeting
@MartinHibbert
today, just a day after his return from kilimanjaro. Truly amazing. Will be writing up a spontaneous piece later which I will link below but for now, here is the link to his just giving page.
#martinsmountain
court reporting was mega emotionally taxing (and i hope i dont sound twisted in saying this) but i actually think i might miss it. such a unique experience.
Woke up from a nap and nearly died from excitement after seeing that I got a 1st for all my end of year uni exams 😭 got a gold standard on my EJ exam too 😭
Getting to grips with pitching this summer- think this is the most invisible I've felt as a journo but one day I'll hear back from at least one publication and it will be VICTORIOUS
Another day which took an unexpected turn of events! Had the privilege of attending an exclusive Q&A event with
@SamMcAlister1
after a special
@Telegraph
screening of the Netflix original, 'Scoop'. As a newbie to the industry, it captured the adrenaline of a newsroom so well!
Making a start on the next advice piece for
@LibertyBelleMag
and feeling so excited and passionate! Love the feeling of bouncing off people's ideas and responding to what people are asking for.
#AskBecky
Trish is going through it in that house, she's a clear target for people with less evolved communication/ emotional regulation skills. People are intimidated because she won't be disrespected. It's not a reflection of her character all, it's not because she creates drama
#BBUK
In October I had a little idea about creating a magazine for confused twenty somethings. 7 months later, myself and 8 other journos have made it happen. The mag is stacked with loads of content and tomorrows the last day of production. Check it out!
I had the most amazing and surprising day at Northern City Connections yesterday, put together by staff and alumni from
@sheffielduni
. I am so grateful to go to a uni that acknowledges the disadvantages faced by students without family connections or wealthier backgrounds
when I first met my boyfriend he was such a stone island five guys and red stripe man who went to raves and was always at the pub but after three and a half years I've just heard him say "yes queen it's giving! what a serve" to his mum after picking out a dress for her to wear
I got selected for a 6 month mentorship with
@ITVCareers
... met my mentor yesterday and feel so lucky to have the opportunity and be under the wing of such an experienced and friendly industry professional. Thank you
@_CreativeAccess
for creating schemes like this!
If you're not doing mocks, practice writing news stories really concisely.
Find news stories on the BBC or something and reword them to fit 150 words
(The strict word count was def the most annoying for me)
Ran away to Gozo to regulate my nervous system and play mermaids after finishing uni. Then picked up my keys and moved 3.5hrs away from shef the day after flying back. My logic isn't perfect but too blessed to be stressed <3 (jk get me back in the Mediterranean)

completing the investigative module has fired me UP. Finished my 5 month long project last week and thought I'd need months to recover but I've already had 3 ideas for some new ones
First day of my internship with
@tramlines
COMPLETED. Doing marketing and content creation for the next three days of the festival, couldn't be more happy
Uni of Shef students: Do everything you're advised to do. Do the mocks, go to the feedback sessions- I promise, in the long run it's more hassle to not have done these things
Did my first audition ever in my life today, still feeling a high from it. Fear of rejection held me back so much in my adolescence but I'm really out here just doing it in my twenties. Must be that nearly fully cooked brain
tried to time myself doing the first 4 questions of the mock EJ paper this week. did 3 questions in 30 minutes, very shoddily. cried. now having a biscuit.
If sixth form me (who never showed up or cared about anything) could see what I was doing now she would call me a little sweat and go back to bed. Over the moon x
I've been doing a lot of research into local clubs lately, and from what I can see and what I have heard, I get the impression that the Leadmill is the safest club in Sheffield. I worry about what stories we might see if it closes.
#WeCantLoseLeadmill
Today we have received some devastating news that in 1 year's time, our Landlord is evicting us and forcing us to close.
Please show your support by sharing this news & sending us your best memories that we can gather to help display all the reasons why

was feeling alright about the shorthand mock until i tried an actual NCTJ exam passage just now. swear 60 words per minute is not meant to be that rapid im running off pure adrenaline and its not going well
nicely plonked WAY outside of my comfort zone the first week back at uni. joining a competitive society and already preparing for the dreaded NCTJ exams... if youre not terrifying yourself on a daily basis what are you paying 9 grand for x
Graduates of

Do as many mocks as you can get your hands on.
This will help you figure out how to be tactful.
I think I answered the questions out of order because it helped me manage my time better.
The video was my weak spot, so I just got it out of the way.
One thing about me is that I will be unashamedly invested in arguments going on outside my house. The second I hear screaming the window is open and the dressing gown is on. If you are arguing I will be viewing. That part of council estate culture will never truly leave me x
Managed to submit my shorthand exam in full, transcribing every piece of shorthand I wrote. Completed it with 2 seconds to go. I'm only just getting over the shakes and it has been near enough 30 mins now 😭 can't imagine what I'll be like past 60wpm

Super happy to say that I'll be starting a new job as an assistant for
@ChangeLabSheff
for the rest of semester! Excited to help them reach out and continue making a difference
I'm so nostalgic and emosh about going into final year. If you're a uni fresher take LOADS of pics&videos. write a diary and include the good, bad, ugly, overheard convos from your bedroom in halls- EVERYTHING. cos one day not v far away you'll have to write a diss & pay taxes x
Uni of Shef students: Know your pocket style guide like the back of your hand.
Names, dates, abbreviations, quotes, numbers and spelling.
Losing marks for silly mistakes is annoying and brutal
Just sprinted down two roads to hold up a bus for my friend. Managed to hold it just as it was pulling off by jamming my foot into the closing doors. Saw her onto the bus, spun around, and walked right into a telephone post like a fkin cartoon. Can't I just do one cool thing
had to film a video of me 💫acting💫 to apply for a job at an escape room. I had covid at the time& was chatting pure shite in the middle of the night pretending to be a detective. Havent heard back yet. Will definitely lie awake thinking about this for probably the next 20 years
