I’ve uploaded all the combine results from #KyEliteCamp to the Griffin Elite Website. One of the pages has gone missing so the 3/4 court sprint and lane agility numbers are missing for some guys. I’ll update the sheet if I find them.

Things Mark Pope will do as head coach: 1. Have an offense that shoots a lot of threes 2. Run out of bounds plays 3. Make in game adjustments, frequently 4. Develop talent 5. Understand the Kentucky fan base 6. Perform all media obligations All things people have been wanting

In AAU, relationships get college coaches out to games and then kids have to perform. If your organization has no ties to coaches to get them to watch or you’re playing events that don’t get coaches, you’re going to struggle to get recruited. AAU 🏀 is all about relationships!

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a passionate coach who loves his kids. To see Dontaie go through the ACL tear, the car wreck and all the adversity and come out and play like that tonight just makes me so happy for him and his family.

Bottom line of new changes to AAU: if you’re a 2020 player you better play for an AAU program and coach next year that will promote you and get coaches to your games because there are only 2 AAU weekends that will be ncaa certified. 1 in April and 1 in July.

AAU recruiting is funny. I shake my head at some of these guys out here just negative recruiting. Build your program up, you don’t need to try to tear others down. Parents will make the choice they think is best for their kid.

When a college coach calls about a player for the first time, they always ask the same questions: Is he a good kid? Can he guard? Does he have grades? If the answer to #3 is no, the rest doesn’t matter. Handle your business in the classroom!

The NCAA raised the cost of coaching certification (again) for this year. So now I get to pay $58 to Coach in 2 events next year. I paid $55 for 5 events this year. Cost goes up and events go down. USA basketball and the NCAA increase their profit margins.

Want to impress coaches this weekend? 1. Play defense. On and off the ball. 2. Communicate on both sides of the ball. 3. Keep positive body language. Don’t pout. 4. Cheer for your teammates. 5. Be the kind of kid that a coach wants in their program for 4 years.

Can we stop calling everyone a point guard? Actual point guards know how to read a defense, run a team and distribute the ball. Just playing with the ball in your hands doesn’t make you a point guard. Just like being tall doesn’t make you a center.
