Imagine if Ofsted reports just looked like this. No overall grades but clear strengths, direction and priorities. Reviewed by a peer principal/ head over a series of visits. Interested to see people's thoughts.
So I challenged chatGPT to imagine
@Ofstednews
did not exist and suggest an alternative system for school improvement that would be viewed as supportive, fair and reliable.
It took 10 seconds to come up with this suggestion.

I wonder how many of the extremely hard working school staff who have actually had direct impact on standards can't access this article because of a paywall they can't afford.

@Channel4News
bet she wasn't including the ยฃยฃยฃยฃ teachers spend every year on equipping their own classroom and students because the government won't fund schools properly.

Given that my phone was off but I still got the alert when turning it back on at 15:02 I hope this hasn't caused any issues for victims of DA who had turned off their second device.
Imagine getting 'the call', prepping everything last night to be on top of your game and then getting another call early this morning to say it's all off due to illness.
If there is anything that demonstrates why Ofsted categories MUST end it has to be this. What a loss Ruth Perry surely was to eduction but, above all, to her family. Ruthโs sisterโs words are utterly heartbreaking. This simply cannot go on.

One of the best bits of lesson feedback I ever received in terms of changing habits was a lesson heatmap. I now do it regularly for staff I coach using their anonymised seating plan and jamboard. Great for noticing patterns and gaps.

Teachers who have a classroom: This week, take a moment to appreciate a colleague who doesn't. Nomadic teaching is a different beast.
Even better, don't lock all the cupboards, leave the remote control accessible and maybe some spare pens. They can't carry everything.

A consistently good teacher (and I don't mean graded Good) is outstanding.
Anyone who can keep up a good level of consistency and education whilst balancing everything else is outstanding in my book.

The ball is firmly in your court.
Fund schools appropriately so that they can:
1. Pay teachers what they deserve
2. Pay support staff what they deserve
3. Retain staff
4. Recruit staff
5. Repair buildings

By this rationale we should stop teaching non-disadvantaged students until the disadvantage catch up. Clearly the widest gap is between a certain person's ears

Summer! Find your feet, shadow some pupils & staff, get to know people, hit the ground running in September and get paid over the summer holidays

Maybe society should stop running them down, telling them they're not learning despite all their efforts & actually credit it them with how amazing they have been throughout all this.
Amazing to be named alongside

Trainers of the Month. Humbled to be named when there are so many phenomenal trainers worldwide to choose from. Thanks to whoever nominated me, and spelt my name right.
Teachers: remember that 'live online teaching' does not mean a full lesson of you actively teaching. Set tasks for students to complete independently, give them a time limit and be available for individuals that might need support.
Lots of teachers seem to want to be able to prevent students from submitting work after deadlines in Google classroom. Either the learning is worthwhile or it isn't. Make your mind up.
@RogersHistory
it's all about funding, or rather the lack of it, that negatively impacts on pay, workload, behaviour, SEMH and leadership.
FUNDING is what we need to be talking about ALL the time.

Just tried this with my wife and she was amazed! She read the whole passage without any mistakes, whereas usually she would miss words or misread them altogether. Game changer for neurodivergent readers
Can we stop with the 'digital natives' tag? Young people may have grown up in an age of digital but it, and their usage has changed rapidly in that time.
Don't assume a smartphone user will excel with a mouse or keyboard.
