Ibn Kathir says the Nawasib of Shaam did the opposite to the Rafida on Ashura, they would cook, do Ghusl, apply perfume+ wear their best clothes, they took it as a day of Eid+ would display happiness+ joy. They intended by that the stubbornness of the Shia and their opposition.
