As a fly on the wall radiographer, I have seen countless core surgical trainees and even trust grade registrars unable to come theatre due to PAs being in theatre. They end up not being in theatre and being more (VERBATIM) “useful elsewhere”.

It is not just in GP practices that this is happening. Orthopaedic. Trainees can’t talk about what is happening, for fear of consequences to their careers and hold the key to their clinical and academic careers - especially in a field like orthopaedics.
I have multiple ortho

Glad to have been selected as Deputy Representative for Anglia Ruskin Univedity at the medical student committee for the BMA. As our seniors have shown, you can’t just sit on the sideline. Time to work.
@BMAstudents
Well as that Front line worker you care about; I was at the protest. The 2nd wave has already started so quite impossible to link it to the protest. Racism is a constant Pandemic.
Standing for the BMA election. My picture disappeared but my goals are unambiguous.
1 - Fix Bursary system for medical students
2 - Continue to Fight for Junior Doctor pay rise
3 - Push for more speciality Training posts for the ever increasing medical students

I will respectfully challenge the Government - I want our country to succeed.
However, I will not 'watch my tone' when dozens of NHS and care staff are dying unnecessarily.
A clip of my Q to the Health Sec today.
This is precisely why I opted out of the random allocation and pre allocated in hospitals ring fenced for our Uni in Essex due to the security and ability to control one’s destiny.
I predict an increasing number of Foundation posts coming out of the UKFPO recruitment system and being ring-fenced for graduates of the local medical schools….this year’s system will just accelerate a return to what used to happen in the 1980s
September is an unacceptable delay
@rcgp
. The future medical workforce is watching and changing their strategy accordingly. The current GP trainees being failed, could’ve predicted this years ago.

🛑Guidance Documents - to be presented at September Council ! - This is too late imo! I’ll be asking this is brought forward. We’re already 5 years plus, too late❗️
Surely if I’ve been grinding for years to be able to stay in and around London, now a random number tells me im off to a random place. Deciles at a minimum should stay.
I actually enjoyed doing ALS at the end of final year of med. Nice brush up on core skills and leadership. It makes sense although not sure it’ll be continued for latter years. Something done well at ARU.
@AngliaRuskin
If there was a need for another professional group who would like to report, there’s enough radiographers who would love to do it and have more “generalised” experience. Although, increasing radiology reg numbers should be the first port of call before all of this.
I will always do a better job, purposely, for someone who’s not an asshole. The healthcare vibe that being an asshole has people on their toes and do well doesn’t apply around here.
Now this one I couldn’t even believe, a true light. Do one thing that we have the power to do in this time and donate In memory of Mr Kar Hao Teoh 張家豪醫生.. Donate on

The racism within the NHS is something which is constantly overlooked. Medical professionals from BAME backgrounds are often mistreated and nothing is ever done about it.

So use your influence correctly to persuade the government to put forward a credible offer, each day you don’t address the true stumbling block you hinder progress.
Strikes have cost the NHS around £2bn so far, according to an update from NHS England today. This is through lost income from delayed operations, scans and procedures, as well as through direct costs of providing cover for striking staff. This is a cost the NHS can ill afford.
🚨BMA members🚨
You deserve a BMA that meets your needs at work and your professional needs.
Take 10 minutes to watch how we're planning to change the BMA local structures and then sign up to vote for better at the AGM
I have tried to convince excellent PA colleagues to do GEM and become excellent doctors. Unfortunately, this is one point among many that make arguing for that pathway an uphill battle. Make it make sense. Full pay restoration now (as well as big changes to postgrad training).

Proud to launch my campaign as the Labour candidate for Islington North.
Putting this community at the heart of a Labour Government is how we can really change lives for the better in Islington North.
The best ward round I was a part of was a core medical trainee leading the ward with reg and cons support, so interesting to acc go through the thinking and even debate plans, than just duly noting it down.

I have never assumed that right as a radiographer, or ever seen other groups of professionals who cannot legally request examinations involving ionising radiation attempt to do so. This is actually the first time ive seen it done as a collective.
@Dr_Rajiology
A lot of healthcare workers assume that they have the right to "order tests" unless they have been informed otherwise. A rigorous screening system is needed for all healthcare staff, not just PAs.

You are doing a smashing job, helping to bring everyone interested in ortho along, keep going doing the good work no one sees.
As much as I disagree with boris on all facets, it’s most certainly not the time for a change in leadership during these perilous times. Focus should be on social distancing being followed and helping the avalanche of patients that are worried and sick.
"I was at a hospital the other night, where I think there were a few coronavirus patients, and I shook hands with everybody you'll be pleased to know. And I continue to shake hands."
Boris Johnson just a couple of weeks ago. Mad. How has he not resigned? It's beyond Trumpian.
Really enjoyed my time with a great clinical and reporting team. Great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend Rotherham plain film radiology team

This right here is crux. No standards or upper limits of practice. If a cons finds a PA trained appropriately they can do as they wish. I cannot however, do a hip and knee list even if my cons finds me appropriately trained.
Tesco being provided with an NHS contract that the GPHC in collusion with companies has now restructured to allow this behaviour PATIENT always loses out. They should not have the power to decide how many hours a pharmacy is open on a NHS contract. PATIENTs lose companies win.

The locum is a member of the GPhC and has a duty to “put the patient first”. By charging completely audacious rates like this is a clear case of extorting an essential service. Not even specialist prescribing pharmacists in hospital demand rates like this.
Watching a BBC series on surgery, and all the orthopaedic surgeons are like “actually it’s a very sophisticated specialism, of profound delicacy and complexity”
