As a fly on the wall radiographer, I have seen countless core surgical trainees and even trust grade registrars unable to come theatre due to PAs being in theatre. They end up not being in theatre and being more (VERBATIM) “useful elsewhere”.

I have tried to convince excellent PA colleagues to do GEM and become excellent doctors. Unfortunately, this is one point among many that make arguing for that pathway an uphill battle. Make it make sense. Full pay restoration now (as well as big changes to postgrad training).

This right here is crux. No standards or upper limits of practice. If a cons finds a PA trained appropriately they can do as they wish. I cannot however, do a hip and knee list even if my cons finds me appropriately trained.

Tesco being provided with an NHS contract that the GPHC in collusion with companies has now restructured to allow this behaviour PATIENT always loses out. They should not have the power to decide how many hours a pharmacy is open on a NHS contract. PATIENTs lose companies win.
