If we want to know if hospitalisations will rise in Ireland in the coming weeks we don't need a crystal ball or a 'wait and see' attitude. We just need to watch the UK - they are about 6 weeks ahead of us with a similar vaccine type + rollout rate + reopening (and great data).

With a history of immunosuppression my haematologist recommended a private antibody test to make sure I had mounted a vaccine response. <0.8 is a negative for antibodies. As of Tuesday, I have 2,369. 😳

The way many countries are reporting Oz & New Zealand's transition out of zero Covid as a 'failure' is a bit cringey. The challenge now doesn't negate the success of the past 18 months. Sounds like they're saying: "I told you so-you should have failed from the start like us".

Behind the failure of the reopening is a failure of ideas. The plan to reach herd immunity through natural infection failed last week when cases didn't go down as expected. “The reopening was a grand experiment on the population" said @GabrielScally .

Notice how, despite large individual attacks elsewhere in Europe, Northern Ireland was consistently the most densely clustered region where fatal terror attacks occurred in the past 50 yrs. It was one of the deadliest longest-running conflicts the European Union has ever seen.
