We are closing down here, it’s just too unpleasant, dangerous and abusive for LGBTIQ+ folks. Find us at
@quinsprideofficial
@threads
.net. See you there!
We are seeing people in the game of rugby walk away because of exclusion. People who know what they are talking about
The RFU allowed itself to be manipulated by exclusionary groups outside of the game.
We are devastated to see the return of Israel Folau. There should be no place in our game for people who have unapologetically said and done the things Folau has done.
@WorldRugby
has work to do when it comes to protecting LGBTQ people in the game 🏳️🌈🏉
I (Jack, a cis gay man) want to send love, support and solidarity to all trans people in rugby. Please know there a more people out there who support you than do not.
The RFU has merely confirmed that is out-of-date & needs reforming.
This is not the end of this fight. ❤️👊🏳️⚧️
The RFU is about to take a decision which is not based on science, fairness or safety. But because they have been swayed by bigotry. Banning trans athletes is shameful and those who vote for it need to reflect on their role in making rugby no longer a sport for all
I (Emily, co-chair and proud trans woman) will record a video this week for the members of the
@RFU
council to watch b4 voting. As I know that trans voices will have been absent in this policy ‘debate’. It will open me to abuse but I cannot watch our sport descend into bigotry
Grotesque racism at the outset
Grotesque treatment of the victim
Rugby has traded on the much vaunted, but often absent 'values' for too long. Bigotry is protected throughout our game, and it is sickening.
More to say later - but today, the RFU has given up its' right to say it is a sport for all. It has given up the right to use the word 'inclusive'.
For shame
RFU Council votes in favour of change to gender participation policy

Just had a Montpellier fan tell us Quins is the loudest away support he's ever heard at their ground, and bought us a pint out of respect. Beautiful. 🤟🔥
🥁DRUM ROLL PLEASE🥁
With 10 days to go before our third annual Pride Game, we're delighted to show off our brand new official logo! It's a beaut! If we do say so ourselves. 😍
See you all there on the day!

The death of one of us diminishes the whole - So sad to hear of the death of Simon Dunn - a true champion of LGBTQ+ equality in sport and a much loved member of the rugby family. Rest well Simon.
Well then, that was a great day out. You may have seen some comments from me (Emily) as co-chair in the telegraph and other places as I gave interviews to them and to PA News, who syndicate. Probably worth saying a few bits which didn't make the cut.
The RFU apologised for the difficulties their tackle ban has caused to members of the ‘rugby family’. Not a peep about the astronomical levels of abuse they unleashed at trans and ally members of the same ‘family’. Abuse which in my case included rape and death threats :-/
A statement following
@IrishRugby
entering a bigoted 'culture war' stoked from outside the game, and the opening of abuse and bigotry within the game since the
@RFU
set the template a week ago.
Solidarity with our Irish LGBT Rugby Family.
There is a problem for the safety of women and girls in the sport of rugby. That has been amply demonstrated over the last few days, weeks and months.
The danger is not from Trans people - and yet Scottish Rugby bow to bigotry, not science. This is another black day in a sport
Just had a great call about our third annual pride match. And not spoiling anything - it’s going to be FABULOUS! So if you haven’t already, get over to
@harlequins
and get your tickets now. They’re going faster than Joe Marchant on the gallop

Manly NRL team are so committed to the promotion of LGBTQ inclusion in Rugby they've promoted new players into their team to replace the 7 who refuse to wear a Pride kit.
Risking their season for a greater cause, that is how to be an ally.
Thoughts are with the
@londonirish
family today. Lots of days of unhelpful press speculation - hopefully it can be stopped and resolved.
First shirt I ever wore on the pitch was for LI - I have a very special place in my heart for them
Absolute honour to be nominated for the National Diversity Award for Community Organisation. 🙌
We are so proud to be pro club rugby's first LGBTQ supporters association, and of
@Harlequins
for blazing the trail 🃏🏳️🌈🏉
If you have a spare moment, we'd love your vote!! 🙏
I spoke to a trans woman about her journey to becoming a woman, and how she came to play women's rugby. Here is a step by step of what the RFU required pre ban, and also a step by step to life as a trans woman. Education commence ✍
So
@IrishRugby
have followed bigotry, not science. Banning trans people from a sport they love is not evidenced, nor is it in any way part of the inclusive nature of our game. Coming so close to the RFU decision, it is clear that bad actors are at work. Our game under assault.
Just an fyi. If you come here with homophobia, transphobia or any other bigotry. Our policy is a block. We are not here to get into bad faith debate with bigots
It's LGBT+ History Month - did you know that
@Harlequins
have won a place in LGBT+ and Rugby History by being the first professional club side to host a Pride Match and have a dedicated LGBTQ+ supporters' association (us!)
#COYQ
Blimey that was stressful but tickets secured! 🔥🔥Just watched Quins fans buy up about 20% of Sarries ground in 15 minutes. Gonna be a loud one!

And people wonder why such a huge % of LGBT people don't feel safe in sport and beyond. Being LGBT is not a choice, it is not a threat, and persecution on the basis of sexuality and gender identity is never justifiable.
'Compromising' on our basic human rights is not an option.
Just had a French lad come up and say "why are there so many of you
@Harlequins
fans, your supporters are amazing" and that is now two away games in France In a row I've heard this compliment.
So at least we have that. A win to go with it sometime would be nice though 😅
Well wow! WHAT A DAY and what a result! 🙌🃏
From all of us at Quins Pride thank you to our wonderful fans, players - and everyone who works at the club - for making today so special. 3 Pride Games down and they never get any less special.

Massive congrats to Campbell Johnstone on coming out as gay. Hopefully his courage will instil belief in those still playing that can play pro-rugby and be their full authentic selves while they do it! 🏳️🌈🏉
The difference between the people in our replies this evening and the people who assaulted our co-chair in the street and called her a ‘rapist’ while filling her car is impossible to separate. Transphobia is transphobia and it always ends in violence
I have contemplated walking away from a sport I have been involved in as a player, committee member and fan since I was 6 - coincidentally the age I first realised I was different. But it seems I need to stay and fight the creeping tentacles of transphobia in a sport I love.
While trans women will bear the brunt of the proposed changes at the
@RFU
let’s not forget the proposals for trans men - that there is a difference torpedoes the ‘science’ argument. Having to sign a risk assessment on safety grounds? I wonder the reaction if the
The banning of trans women playing any level of rugby Union is part of a broader attack on people living their lives - it’s not grounded in science but part of a concerted effort of bigotry.
Last Saturday was amazing. Our annual pride fixture is now settled in the calendar, but did you know we are there every home game? - a place to demonstrate an enduring commitment to inclusion in our club and game. Come see us in the Robshaw bar

‘Gamewide survey’. My (very sorr) foot
This weekend began with a trans woman recounting her night out - where she was assaulted by a man in an unprovoked attack.
It led on to the brutal murder of a 16 year old trans girl, it ended with an unprovoked attack on a cis gay couple in London.
The RFU recognise that their lack of consultation has caused a problem; last year they claimed a ‘game wide survey’ was used to inform the banning of trans players… no women’s club I spoke to knew anything about it. From premiership downwards
We said what we said - the people who have influenced the RFU are not from within the game - they have literally made it their profession to agitate against a minority. They have no shame
We’re absolutely thrilled to say we have a space in the pride March at

Devastated to hear of the homophobic stabbings in Clapham last night. This is exactly why we do what we do, and why events like Pride matter so very much. Sending all our love to the victims. ❤️🏳️🌈
Today is
#transdayofvisibility
. Trans visibility in rugby has been damaged massively over the last year, but at QuinsPride we are here for the whole LGBTQ+ community. Today and every day
Great day out at the stoop (am I allowed to say I like it a lot better than the big place over the road?). Met some lovely fans again, saw some cracking rugby and spent time with friends who are like family.

Looking at the rugby accounts, publications and podcasts who are opining about the shambolic governance at the RFU and relishing the climb down in the offing, noting their silence - or approval of the EXACT SAME tactics used to ban trans players last year. We see you
Statement from our Co-Chair
@emilymcminn_ms
on the decision by authorities to ban trans athletes from elite level Rugby League. 👇👇👇
We stand in solidarity with our trans siblings, always. ❤️🏳️⚧️
Here's how this works. Anti trans folks descend on sporting bodies (often accompanied by other unsavoury 'allies' - racists, assorted bigots etc) - then the client media starts pumping out articles about 'evidence' - without actually sharing it. We see you.
Scottish Rugby under fire over rules that allow trans women to play in full-contact female matches - despite evidence it is unsafe
Policy, under review, says women must not be told about trans opponents. 2 trans women players "actively involved" at clubs
For context, a couple of weeks back Ollie lost his Dad, Brian. He spoke to a pal at Quins casually asking if they'd maybe embroider a shirt for his Dad. Next thing you know, he's got a signed shirt and match tickets. That is the Quins way. Love you Ollie. ♥️

The interesting thing about this peer reviewed paper from an organisation that knows about sport and performance is that it highlights the animus of some of the big names who alternate between being ‘scientists’ and ‘bigots for hire’. They don’t like their mask being lifted

Exclusive: The RFU has been rocked by legal action over its ban on trans women from female rugby. The challenge - which rugby's gov body vows to 'robustly defend' - is being brought by trans player Julie Curtiss, who is 'distraught' she can no longer play
We are ringing the changes - our intersex family have so often been forgotten in sports inclusion, and it’s time to tackle it. So we have a new logo based on

Today marks the start of trans awareness week. As you will know - world rugby and several national unions have banned trans women from playing out amazing sport. This week we will highlight some of the inconsistencies, bigotries and lies used to effect this ban
