Everything on Cybertron has glowy TRON lines because Cybertron doesn't orbit a sun. Since there's no sunlight, Cybertron & everything on it need to glow in the dark in order for people to see. That's also why the light level changes depending on how much energy the planet has.

I think lots of people forget holoforms aren't always 1-to-1 translations of the bots using 'em; a good amount of them are genericized or in-jokes. Bumblebee isn't Lindsay Lohan from Herbie: Fully Loaded, the '07 Decepticons aren't identical mustache men, & Tailgate isn't a baby.
