Meet Sven, a rescued Arctic fox that arrived at the Zoo in 2021. Wildlife officials seized Sven in OK, where owning an Arctic fox is illegal. His care team describes the fluffy fox as curious and playful. Watch Sven happily greet keeper Kristyn and practice his target training.
Muskox calf Willow has already more than doubled her weight! She now weighs 48lbs at 24 days old. Dad Hudson was weighed next and weighs 737lbs. Mom Charlotte weighs 620lbs. All Muskoxen continue to do well! Charlotte and Willow can be seen together in the baby-proof muskox yard.

Birthday blep from endangered clouded leopard Jao Ying. Our beloved clouded leopard turns 17 today! Despite having her left eye removed due to a tumor, she has adapted wonderfully and continues to move around, climb, and explore her habitats. Happy birthday, Jao Ying! 🐾
Fun with Willow! 🥰 Today, the five-month-old, spunky muskox calf went full turbo after warming up to her giant jolly ball for enrichment. The playful calf now weighs 170 pounds and is growing fast! 💗

Wonderful walrus sounds! Walruses are social animals and are known for their unique and loud vocalizations. They produce growls, roars, whistles, grunts, barks, and more for communication. A walrus roar is one of the loudest sounds produced by marine mammals.

Willow will be four months old this Sunday! 🎉 As the growing muskox calf gets bigger (now weighing 142 lbs), she has recently developed a liking for her larger jolly ball for enrichment – just like her pro-headbutting dad Hudson (who weighs 741 lbs). 💗
Our two growing penguin chicks at healthcare continue to do well! Two of our penguin chicks are receiving special attention and around-the-clock care from veterinarians and keepers at our animal hospital. The chicks are sharing a warm incubator together and are doing much better.
Sea otter Clara grooming, rolling around and snacking on ice! 🧊 Sea otters spend much of their day grooming their fur to keep it waterproof, as it's the densest fur of any mammal, with up to 1 million hairs per square inch! 🦦

Gonzo goes on an adventure searching for ants!🐜 Gonzo, the 8-year-old tamandua, loves his walks around the Zoo (and snarfing up tasty insects). Tamanduas, also known as lesser anteaters, have 16" long, sticky tongues they use to slurp up insects. Happy World Tamandua Day, Gonzo!

Exciting news! 💗 Our first-ever sea lion pup was born on June 6. Mom, Eloise, and the young pup are doing well. She has been nursing, growing, moving, vocalizing, and getting accustomed to her care team behind the scenes. Sound on for adorable pup sounds!
Check out those chompers! 🦷 Our keepers work closely with all of our animals, actively participating in their healthcare. This trained behavior allows keepers to check Clara’s mouth and teeth. Sea otters are designed to crunch through hard shells. 🦦🦀🦪

The American Red Wolf pups at our offsite facility have found their voices! We're thrilled that the five critically endangered Red Wolf pups, now two months old, continue to thrive. With just 20-22 Red Wolves left in the wild, our commitment to their recovery is unwavering.
Keepers also like dressing up as their favorite superheroes!🦸♀️Balzak has the power to withstand freezing temperatures as low as -95 degrees and can hold up to 13 gallons of air to inflate like a pillow - allowing the massive walrus to act as his own floatation device.

Pupdate! 🐺 The five critically endangered American Red Wolf pups born at our off-site facility continue to thrive. The litter, consisting of three males and two females, marks another milestone in our efforts to revive the only wolf species native to the United States.
Tilli doing what Tilli loves best… digging! Aardvarks have a great sense of smell, large claws, and powerful nails that they can use to track down tasty insects. They also use their long, sticky tongue to slurp up bugs. 📹: Assistant curator Maureen (1/2)
Cute Yuna the tapir exploring one of her outdoor habitats. 🥰 Although Malayan tapirs look like giant anteaters or mini elephants, they are most closely related to horses and rhinos. They have a great sense of smell and use their flexible trunk to pull vegetation to their mouth.
