Several people have asked me whether I think the government is lying about its reason to say Cardiac Arrest resuscitation is NOT an aerosol generating procedure.
The government says it is because of science.
Science my arse.
It is because we don't have enough masks.

1. Valentina and Eike's updated paper has arrived on the journal website.
2. As I show below, the Big 10 (who I am guessing from twitter comments are some sort of sports governing body) should now be reopening their sport.

My advice for the general public?
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT HEART DAMAGE FROM COVID.
"If you as a member of the public are searching the internet for scientific data on heart damage, you are doing it wrong."
Uncle Darrel
J Condescending but True Facts

Are there other statistical reports about the incidence of heart related damage? Thanks for your awesome content, a bit hard to digest for the public but trying :D

If you want to kill people, the most effective way to do this in the modern era (since gun laws and annoying people like the Police will make things awkward) is to persuade people to stop (or never start) a statin.
Over the long term, 1 in 10 will be killed by that choice.

During viral infection, in ATHLETES, CMR shows:
Myocardial EDEMA in 19% acutely, 24% at followup.
Myocardial INFLAMMATION in 38% acutely, 48% at followup.

1 out of 136 CPR attempts in COVID achieved favourable neurological outcome at 30 days.
Advice from UDHE (Uncle Darrel Health England):
*Definitely* get that PPE on first, and if no PPE available, do not attempt CPR.
Your team would be providing net killage to the country.
Outcome of CPR in pts with
#COVID19
who arrest in hospital – data from 136pts in Wuhan:
◾️Initially ‘successful’ (ROSC achieved) in 13%
◾️Only 2.9% survived for at least 30d
◾️Just 1 pt (0.7%) had a favourable neurological outcome at 30d

I expect the Big 10 chappies will be announcing the reopening later today, when they realise that it is LACK OF EXERCISE, not the having of Covid, that causes people to get T1 wotsits.

At last some solid science.
Definite permanent heart damage, causing the heart to turn into molecular acid and drill through the chest (as horribly foreshadowed in Alien) on 137% of patients.
Even higher if actually exposed to the virus, rather than only worrying about it.
My aunt Rosie told me that 87% of athletes developed myocarditis, far higher than the 15-33% figures bandied around by some
#COVID
denialists. This virus is so bad that some who hadn't been exposed to the virus, were among the ones with the worst symptoms.

Anything I say to give hard-pressed doctors a well-deserved laugh, has a risk of making some of them angry.
But this will amuse not only to every doctor, but everyone who has a science degree, and indeed a many other people who have merely been to school
Wow! I had been assuming this was going to show weight loss -> lower BP & cholesterol etc -> Fewer events, and that would be a very gradually-evolving effect.

Yes it is intellectual elitism but that is a part of science.
Not all opinions are of equal value.
A scientific reputation is built over decades and destroyed in a day.
That is why scientists are so careful in their speculation and so quick to correct errors.

This is a new low point for AHA.
Is it *so* dependent on industry money?
We need to be more careful of its interpretations of other things. If it can be so wrong about this, which we only happen to be able to spot as wrong, it might be wrong about other things harder to spot.

If you are about to do an unblinded trial of a symptom-relieving treatment:
Don't bother. Just make up the results. We know it will be positive.
Embezzle the money. Spend 1/3 on cars, 1/3 on women, and waste the rest.
You will save patients the effort and benefit the economy.

If 30% of smokers need glasses, and it is the same regardless of whether they smoked 1 per day for just 6 months, or 40 per day for 40 years,

Because
