Principals are middle managers. They have very little control over the policies that govern schools. Every year new policies and plans are added to schools. The old ones never go away. I was more micromanaged as a principal than in the Marine Corps.

This is education. My daughter wanted to know how to change a tire just in case she needed it. We spent an hour jacking up the car, taking off the tire and putting it back on. She did it all herself and asked questions when she had them.

This is a microschool for high schoolers in Moab, Ut (Rural Utah). It is designed for students who are gifted and have a learning disability. They only have 4 classes a semester, with a two hour lunch each day. Each student is excelling.
