This is mum and dad. Off to the annual commemoration of the mass deportations. This week 84 years deported, 66 years married. Within moments of arriving,”your dad did so much for our community,”your generation must never forget those killing fields. 😔 🙏 @KresyFamily @posklondon

@ruskin147 Rory what you all do in public health terms is amazing. Breaking stigma and improving care by services and society of neurological disorders is a win beyond Parkinson’s alone. Your big waves in parks will make useful waves for others. I hope.

It’s David’s birthday today. 4 years ago we came home, he cooked his birthday supper, we had settled to sleep he then had his only fit and everything changed. It will be important forever for us to talk about him, remember him, we will rely on these memories not make new ones.

Massive day for me and my daughters. Moving out of the family home, me for 27 years, to them the only place they have known. It has been a kind house to us and where David wanted to be ill. It was his last view and this is mine.

This is one of my favourite photos. ⁦David bore such a difficult illness with such endless stoicism. His huge desire was to minimise the negative impact on his family and daughters. Its my 🎂 and on days like today where his loss is tangible, they so care for me.

@DerekVsOwusu I was a doctor like this, this week. Functional, task orientated translation can be really useful and happily instant on the phone. However, complex consultations are transformed with the right language. I too am amazed how little accessible translated patient info there is.

This is my fabulous Dad 92 next week. He has been despairing at the condition of my garden tools and swept, cleaned and pruned all week end. He got these for mum, “I have been getting you flowers for 64 years and I’m not stopping now!” Barely been indoors all week end! Too busy!

This is mum, 89 this week. At low points this year she described life as “like confinement in a chicken hutch”, covid, OA, fatigue. She knows the story of every plant. Where from, which memory. Seeds, cuttings, sharing plants, little wins. Gardening at any scale is special.

It’s David’s birthday, 5 years to the day since his seizure that changed everything. We miss him so much. His capacity to love, laugh, work, be a friend is a family legacy. On Friday R graduated. A tutor said her capacity for friendship showed itself as important as knowledge.

End of my working week. Taken the bermuda + scrubs route and it has been a game changer. Been everywhere today, lovely staff, smiling and being helpful in the heat! Bottle of icy water pressed into my hand in Bridgend Clinic ! ♥️ No joke in the heat.

David would have found this translation hilarious. I was told recently how I seemed to be missing him a lot. Almost as if that was inappropriate. Until it happens to you, some days simply not sharing a joke is hard and can make you sad.

Lock down being lifted means different things. I’m starting very gently to see people I last saw more than a year ago. Even when David was still here. Reminiscence lovely such physical sadness again. Like many missed a year of supported bereavement. So I’m arranging David’s maps.

I took a walk into town yesterday. This is cardiff, during a 6 nations match. Birdsong and the occasional roar of the crowd! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏉. Cardiff is amazing on days like these.

@Billbrowder The bravery of people seems to have no boundaries. Sadly driven and balanced by repressive regimes. I salute the work you do. 👏🏼

@austintxerin @doctor_oxford This is a witness statement no one wants to read. Unbelievable in any country that values life. The world is watching as particularly two superpowers are showing the world how money and power corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely and with such desperate consequences.

@MartinSLewis @bbc5live @PenguinBooks @PhilipPullman I bravely asked for a proof. Two came for our two daughters pretty much the next post. I read it aloud to anyone in the room in the last few months of his life. The calm routine this gave us I remember still. This was a random act of kindness for us beyond compare.

Can I say thank you to estates in the Princess of Wales hospital. They have left lots of bits of “meadow” to grow. I think I have just seen a clump of bee orchids and something else purple and loads of lovely daisies! @CwmTafMorgannwg

In a new house, I made a garden with a pond in a big old galvanised can. Last year I was besides myself to have frogspawn then 🐸 🐸 . This year I was bereft as it was frozen then pillaged by crows. Today i have spotted 3 tiny fogs. Small personal achievement of the season!

Such a good programme. Should be part of any doctors or nurses induction, or indeed all of us, as the content is universal, as much as we don’t want it to be. Clear, informed and absolutely grounded in person centred compassion. @DrLindaDykes 🩺 helpful language. @DyingMatters

Do not resuscitate. Chilling words? For many, but not for all. But ones we all should know more about. I've explored for my latest @BBCRadio4 doc. Spoke to @AGoodDeath , @Resus2Runner @DrLindaDykes @mencap_charity @merryvarney and more. Tmrw (Tue) 11am R4

Well this is a bit of a first! So many polish 1/2 even 3rd generation people living in wales and this is where I’m heading today! Yes I used to despair every Saturday going to Polish school as a kid. But the language did sink in and I now feel lucky to use it.

Needed to see this today. No one I know is having a straight forward time. I’m sending this to my colleagues with a good strong coffee on the side.
