I was homeschooled & never got the lunch lady experience, but I feel like the Maples ladies are the collegiate lunch lady equivalent. They know my usual order, compliment my outfits, & ask about my semester, all while dealing with dozens of orders. I freaking love those angels.

I just realized no women in the church I grew up in ever led music. They’d have a guy who couldn’t stay on pitch rather than a woman who was an infinitely more qualified musician. Play piano? Sure, but God forbid we ever lead songs. I grew up thinking that was just how it was??

My piano teacher is home in Taiwan for the holidays, & was so excited to tell me about the concerts he’s attending & performing in, & how he went to a full movie theater the other night. Taiwan is almost Covid-free & they are flawless at contact tracing. I want to move.

It probably gets old to hear me talk about homeschooling, but I will never stop advocating for regulations that keep kids like me from spending years teaching themselves with a textbook & computer. Sometimes I wonder if I would’ve still hated math & science with a human teacher.
