All the ads gurus have moved to TikTok then, see so many threads, screenshots and Big ROAZ gains from the ads bros. Same story as FB, always nuances to every product or account, don’t be blinded by the wins.
Facebook Ads Library + Adison (Foreplay 😅) is a cheat code.
Even works with TikTok ad library AND more importantly organic TikTok profiles in the browser.
Media buying can be a standard process to follow, but there's still plenty of traps you can fall into which can cost you $$$
After auditing numerous ad accounts in 2022, here are the 5 common issues we found, dodge these and you'll be in a great place to advertise in 2023:
Facebook’s ads library almost feels like a cheat code.
The amount of visibility you get into a brand’s creative, copy, offers & positioning in just a 5 min scroll is incredible.
Tip: DPA & Collection format ads don’t render correctly, so don’t presume a brand isn’t using them.
Retargeting setup to rule them all (I had another screenshot showing killer ROAZ but I'm not that guy).
180 day is "> 2 pages visited" and "top 25% time on site"

Three tactics to improve your ROAS (and why they will work, and also why they won’t work!)
COST CAP 💰
Move from lowest cost bidding to cost cap (or another manual bid type)
A client agency relationship will never last forever, we understand that.
Maybe we miss KPIs or they want a different service or price - it's fine, we don't hold grudges right? right 😅
But when a brand moves on after 18 months, and the new agency does this 👇 it cuts deep!
We make ads for Huel, we’re not the only Creative agency making ads for them though.
It’s an interesting dynamic when multiple providers are making ads for a single brand, the competition is addictive.
The top performing ads regularly change between agencies, the winner? The
Just checked and we're over half the way there to becoming FB Premium Marketing Partners 😳. $2.7 mil managed, another $2.3 mil to go.
We only passed Preferred status in October.
This month marks 12 months of providing content for Lululemon EU.
3 months turned to the end of 2022, they then signed up to the end of 2023.
Majority of content from our internal team too.
You know Zuck is getting that bag when the CPM increases by 888% and the comparison arrow is GREEN! 😂💰
I must have Zuck mode turned on, surely that increase should be red 😫
Advantage+ Shopping has been FB’s greatest gift this year. More stability and attribution? Sure!
The worst part? It’s not available to everyone still 🤯
We lost a pitch to another agency at the end of April...
Apparently the other agency provided a more favourable forecast, with them expecting to hit a lower CPA than what we predicted.
We weren't removed from the account however so I checked in every few weeks to see what was
Every time we receive a refund from Meta I write it down in this notepad.
I’ve been doing this for the past 5 years after millions in spend managed.
I’ll drop the current total below 👇🏻
After what felt like 6 weeks of interviews, it was great to share with the team that we have 5 new starters joining the team in the next few months. Investing in all areas of the biz which will benefit all current and new partners 🚀
The first brand of ours got Shopify’s one page checkout today.
Strong lift in conversion rate, is everyone else seeing the same drop in Reached Checkout?
Presume that’s just because of the change in checkout steps.
Started the year with a team of 2 in a tiny office, ending the year with a team of 7 (and growing) with a great office and a roster of great mission-led clients.
Who knows what 2021 will bring, but we’ve got our eyes set on brilliant things!
Happy New Year 🥳
Compare attribution settings in ads manager now available 👇
Seen a few people sharing this already, happy this is now available but also thinking "what took so long?! 😰"
This week we’re switching a Meta account from auto bid to 100% cost cap.
That’s how challenging performance has been for the last 30 days across some accounts.
If it works, I 100% won’t be part of the angry CC gang that claim all other strategies are ridiculous.
Taking a brand from £0 to 10 figures is fun, but sometimes startups come to us with no reviews, a handful of emails and not much "customer branding".
This brand is approaching their 100th review (had 0 a few months ago, most with photo uploads)
I'm all for naming conventions in campaigns / ad sets, but if I can't explain the campaign to a colleague because the format is too complicated I think it's too much.
I'm talking about 👇
TOF LAL PROSP - CBO - AO, 1DC1DV v2.2 NEW copy copy duplicate
Anyone else? 😅
Our Meta agency rep gave us some pretty outstanding news yesterday.
We’re top 3 out of the 60 managed agencies in the UK (including the big 6 like Publicis, Dentsu, Havas etc)… for… I can’t say yet but hoping to get a case study written with Meta on it.
🇬🇧 British TikTok users spend more time using the app than any other country in the world
UK: 27.3 hours per month
Russia: 26.3
US: 25.6
Global average: 19.6
I run through our campaign and creative setup for a kids apparel brand
- International 🌍
- No access to Advantage+ ❌
- Improved FB performance year on year ✅
It’s only June and we’ve already reached peak “reply to this tweet with the word HUSSLE and I’ll DM you my proven strategy to being a melon”
Can we agree to pause it till 2023 now?
After almost 2 years WFH I’ve accepted this is now my office, got one of our office desks out of storage for extra space (black desk on right is what I used since March 2020 🥴)
This should bump ROAS by 25% right??
Happy New Year all.
If you're building an agency and getting FOMO from the people on here only sharing positives, just remember there isn't a single agency that doesn't:
- churn clients
- have late payers
- have trouble with team members
- make mistakes
All the big players have the exact same
Biggest fact about DTC Twitter 👇🏻few people know this.
🤫 the quietest ones are making the biggest moves
Some of our biggest and most mature brands and founders are on here, consuming but not commenting.
Instead putting that effort into product and growth.
Read a few agency ads recently stating "Media buyers need to be testing more creatives than ever"
While media buying has changed, and it is creative led, the priority should be test better ads, not more ads.
100 pieces of 💩, are still just 💩
Most weekly reports today:
FB spend: steady
Store revenue: steady
Blended ROAS + CPA: steady
FB ROAS, CPA + Revenue: 📉📉
That 6th June iOS14.6 date really hit hard 😰
After Advantage+, this Apply to all cards button is literally the best thing Meta have developed recently.
OGs will remember manually updating each carousel card when copy or links changed 😫
Also bulk selecting images is really helpful too.
I got the chance to audit Temu’s ad account this week, here’s my key takeaways:
- cheat code access to 28DC 28DV
- all lowest cost auto bids
- YOLO no exclusions
- slingshot tactic ABO setup, 100s of ad sets all set to $5 daily budget each
- 360 kickflip tactic: same ad set
Ad account audit red flag 🚩🚩🚩
You’re a brand who has asked a new agency to audit your ad account, managed by your current agency…
The audit comes back
“⚠️ your highest spending ads have a low ROAS, and ads with low spend have a high ROAS…
… Your current agency are
Today marks 2 years for me at Hello Earth: we’ve changed names, gone through a global pandemic and hired a team.
We’ve now got less data to optimise on but I’ve got a few more grey hairs in my beard to balance that out 👴🏻
No Black Friday purchases for me this year… just this new electric Mini Cooper for the mrs 😏
I think my VW van is already jealous, it hasn’t moved since we’ve had this.
