The loudest sound ever recorded in history was the August 27th, 1883 Krakatoa Indonesia Volcanic eruption where the sound was heard 3,000 miles away from the volcano. This Tonga volcanic eruption created a shockwave that was heard all the way in Alaska which is over 5,800 miles

Today is a day in my opinion where the amateur storm chasers shouldn’t be chasing today. It’s going to be to dangerous to chase. Now if you want to chase, my advice is to be extremely careful because I fear the tornadoes we see today will end up being rain wrapped.

Can we just take a moment and thank all of our incredible meteorologists who covered April 27th, 2011? I know it was a rough, sad and challenging day for them. But they persevered and went through it all together. I’m thankful we had meteorologists on 4/27/11 and just in general.

#OTD 4 years ago, the largest outbreak of tornadoes in 2020 unfolded in Dixie Alley, with 183 confirmed tornadoes. The most famous and destructive tornado of the outbreak was the Bassfield/Soso, MS EF4. Several other intense tornadoes would strike LA, AL, TN, GA, & the Carolinas.

I hate it when people call events like this a bust. Sure, it may have been a bust where you are, but think about the areas that were hit by a tornado, that wasn’t a bust for them. All it takes is one tornado to make it a bad tornado event.

Dang, I just realized that on 11/29/2016, there was a moderate risk in place for significant tornadoes. I bought this up because on Tuesday 11/29/22, the SPC has highlighted a 30% risk for severe weather, the only difference is the 30% risk is slightly west. Crazy stuff imo.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 60-100% chance of severe weather on this product. Is it overdoing the severe probs? We can only hope it is. If it isn’t, then we may be dealing with a really bad day and probably end up with the worse outbreak in 10-12+ years.

Well, a NWS New Orleans Surveyor is saying the New Orleans tornado will likely be a high end EF3 or possibly a low end EF4. Based off the damages I’ve seen and this is my opinion, I say this was a high end EF3 with winds of around 155-160 mph.

Every home needs a NOAA Weather Radio. If I was rich, I would buy a NOAA Weather Radio for everyone. I also want to say that a NOAA Weather Radio could save your life during warnings, which is why I recommend getting one. It also lets you know when you get put under a warning.

On this day, exactly 1 year ago. A rare high risk was issued for Alabama and Mississippi due to the threat of intense supercells that would've produced long lived violent tornadoes. Thank goodness, this event busted and nothing too crazy didn't happen.
