I'm looking move to a more life and art supporting living environment!
The response has been tremendous so far, but I'm just getting started!
Please donate or spread the word.
To a new world of guinea pigs and monsters!
These were the first drawings I did of the Heidi Klum worm suit.
We were looking for a direction , so I was just playing around here.
I was still thinking 'stylish and sexy', so these resemble inflatable fetish fashion ware.
I was hired by Mike Marino of Prosthetic Renaissance to draw designs for
@heidiklum
's worm costume which debuted on Halloween night.
This was the final drawing I did when a direction was decided upon, though there were some interesting explorations, which I'll share soon.
This surfaced from a few years back.
If I’m in an unfamiliar house, I’ll often imagine what the most frightening thing I could see in the dark might be.
This was a flayed man crawling up the stairs towards me. Reaching the summit, he expresses himself.
My paint reference for the Nyarlathotep statue produced by
@Gecco_Corp
, sculpted by
@obstetrician_M
, based on my design.
(Photoshop over photos of unpainted resin castings)
And this is as far out as things got before we went Full Worm.
I had just seen the Alexander McQueen show at LACMA and was inspired to do a high fashion worm queen design.
After this, things began to take shape.
#HeidiKlumHalloween
Garamon, based on the artist Tohl Narita’s design of the meteor monster which had small arms and a more fish-like face.
Finally was able to finish this today.
Hello!
It's been quite a while.
I had my first bout with Covid, and that was a miasmatic funhouse if ever there was one.
The solo show at the
@phantasmic_com
Gallery had a spectacular opening night.
And here's a new ambulating tumor bouquet in that Big Book!
The H.R. Giger ‘LI’ sculpture from 2004. This project had a long and storied history before it fell into my hands to complete. I drew some designs to depict it three dimensionally, and Giger, who was in NY for his show, made some adjustments in red pen.
A design for I Am Legend 2007, which I did for Mike Marino's Prosthetic Renaissance when there was still a chance that they would be realized practically.
The giant white tiger designed for Kong: Skull Island in 2015. This was done at an early stage , when this creature would be either a tiger or wolf. Carlos Huante told me that the director wanted something that evoked a Princess Mononoke feeling.
At last we have arrived.
Full Worm!
It wasn't yet decided whether
@heidiklum
's arms would be free like flippers or bound like in the final suit, or how her face would be merged.
But wait, there's more.....!
I brought this back for some much needed restoration. Besides being an ink drawing, there are layers of things that are making themselves known in unlovely ways.
I feel honored to have assisted in rendering the tumorous skin texture on the splendid beast that Norman Cabrera, Noah Rivers, and
@AkihitoSculpt
sculpted for The Graveyard Rats.
Still in the alien worm fetish realm at this stage, with a touch of Pris from Bladerunner in the mix.
Mike Marino at Prosthetic Renaissance suggested that some translucent membranes around her face might be an interesting way of revealing
@heidiklum
's face .
Today I recovered the sketchbook from storage that had my rough pencil drawings of the Heidi Klum worm suit. I had scanned these and refined them in photoshop.
Sculpting the suit for the Juliette Creature for The Thing 2011 at ADI.
That's Sigourney Weaver's head cast temporarily in place.
Behind me, the torso of the creature that escapes from the ice block is being sculpted.
Yeah.... what could have been.
An aquatic beastie dating back to '96!
I'm still in the days of quill pens and watercolors, here. I knew nothing about computers, and I hadn't even played the first Resident Evil yet.
A character described by me as having rotating spiny seed pods for eyes, and a typewriter-like device replacing his lower jaw, many years ago during an improvised spoken story woven between me and
@Armoredbaby
.
Turned out that the areas in the room I thought would be the worst monsters to fight were, to my relief, easily dealt with.
I had done quite a bit of organizing during the lockdown.
