We won the #OlivierAward for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. 10 years ago we were a scratch start-up, with no funding and no private income, working multiple jobs to pay rent and somehow make tiny (but brilliant) shows to support writers. What a journey.

Financial pressure is undeniable. We've not had ACE subsidy for a production since 2021. We've no core funding. Audience numbers are still down. Yet we've just announced two major commitments to new writers. When the old money runs out is exactly the time to try something new.

As per last post: we emphasise it because we're sometimes asked to do workshops in private schools - and we refuse. We're proud of our state school origins + consider it important not to elide the massive difference in resources/opportunities conferred by a fee-paying education.

Almost a year to the day since the world premiere tour of 2019 #PapatangoPrize winner #ShookPlay closed, the team is back on the set of the YOI, starting rehearsals to film the stage show! Such a joy to be telling stories again, especially after the West End transfer was lost.

New writing is in peril. Cuts to London infrastructure disproportionately hit new work, because a London-centric press/industry are often key to impact. Plus, because unknown stories/artists are often a harder sell, especially in a financial crisis, funding matters even more.
