Public assist, tree in to residence. 11:43am 200 Blk Deer Run SM. An approx 80’ to 100’ eucalyptus tree fell in to a residence. -injuries. Major damage to residence. Red Cross and Building & Safety notified.
Vehicle entrapment 7:46 pm area of HWY 135/Harris Grade 2 vehicles, 3 occupants trapped in flood waters. No injuries/transports. HWY 135 closed in the area. Pic of immediate need rescue using equipment available within time constraints of emergency ops.
Road closure with rocks and debris: Rancho Oso Campground. Approx 400 people with 7 horses cut off from exiting campground. SBC Fire construction section cleared road and assisted with public leaving area. No injuries reported.
Veg Fire 9:04am. In the area of School House Cyn/HWY 166. School Incident. Light/medium fuel, slow rate of spread. FWD progress stopped. Air resources released. Ground crews on scene working on control lines. No injuries. Cause under investigation. Acreage TBD.
Cliff/Rope Rescue 11:17pm 6700 blk Del Playa IV. 1 female over the edge, stuck approx 10’-15’ down on a ledge, non-injury. 3 males attempted to rescue the female from the beach below and became trapped due to rising high tide waters. All 3 non-injury, rescued by SBC FD personnel.
Flooding Guadalupe 0 blk 9th St. Santa Maria River levee break. 20 homes flooded with residents displaced. Relocated by Santa Maria City. No injuries. Non ambulatory 79 y/o male hoist rescue by SBC Fire air support unit.
Public Assist 10:34 am. Cliff rescue. Dog trapped approx 75’ down a 150’ cliff. Dog owner on scene and unhurt. Dog lowered to beach and walked out to a safe location for reunification.
Vegetation Fire: HWY 154/Paradise RD/San Fernando Ray Ranch Area. US Forest on scene, full SBC Fire vegetation response en route.
Initial US Forest Service size up estimated at 3 to 5 acres.

Helicopter down 7:45am Area of Orcutt Garey Rd and Foxes Cyn Rd Orcutt. 1 occupant, non-injury. Helicopter spraying organic pesticide experienced a mechanical issue and came to rest in an ag field. Pesticide tanks empty prior to going down.
Vehicle accident 6:15pm. 2200 blk HWY 154 SB. Single vehicle in to a tree. 3 occupants in vehicle. 1 female injured and ground transported to SBCH by AMR. 1 traffic lane closed in the area. Multiple units on scene including CHP SB Co SO and SB Co FD.
Ocean Rescue Hollister Ranch 1:25pm. 1 jet ski in distress w/2 riders. Found on shore, no injuries. 18’ boat capsized near shore w/ 3 passengers. All 3 able to return to shore w/ no injuries.
Plane down 3:09pm Area of Zaca Station Rd approx 2 miles N of HWY 154 Cessna 172 experienced mechanical difficulties and was unable to return to SYV airport. Single occupant no injuries. SB Co FD and CHP on scene.
Vegetation Fire: Via Chaparral/Salvar Rd, Santa Barbara. CT. 7:06pm 1/8 acre, about 5 teenagers set off fireworks, started fire. Forward progress stop 7:30 pm. No injuries or structures reported. Charges will be filed per SBCSO. Mopping up completed. End of report.
Tree collapse in to a vehicle. Area of Calle Real and Encina Ln. 12:30pm. A large eucalyptus tree collapsed on to a vehicle. 1 occupant, non injury but extensive damage to vehicle. Intersection is open.
Vehicle head on collision 5:41am HWY 1, 1 mi W of HWY 101. 2 patients. 1 critical flown to SBCH via Calstar. HWY 1 down to 1 lane on Las Cruces Grade with units on scene.
Electrical short circuit at Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital. ME30 responded to an electrical room after a loud pop with subsequent smoke was reported by staff to 911. Construction crews were upgrading a large switch to supply generator power in the event of power loss.
Vehicle accident: 8:01pm 2 vehicles S/B on HWY 101 1/4 mile south of Alisos Canyon Rd. 1 patient transported. Both south bound lanes blocked. Traffic being routed by on shoulder.
Vehicle Fire: 2200-2700 BLK of Gibraltar RD, Santa Barbara. Van was driving up the road and caught fire. Fire from the van spread into the vegetation(20X30 ft. spot fire), causing a road closure. Montecito Fire was first on scene. (1/2)

Vehicle accident with brush fire 6:46pm HWY 166 in the area of Chimeneas Ranch. HWY Inc. 1 pt transported to SB Cottage via Calstar. Forward progress of brush fire stopped at 7:36pm. Multiple units on scene. More info to follow as available.
Water rescue 5:28pm. 1 mile west of Gaviota Beach. 2 kayaks, 1 submerged w/ occupant in water approx 1000 yards off beach. SB Co and County Parks launched rescue jet skis. Both parties rescued w/ no injuries.
Veg fire 2:30pm Gifford Incident HWY 166 near Rockfront Ranch. Approx 5 acres on North side of HWY 166 in SLO County. Multiple crews working in the area. Use caution while driving in the area. Updates and photos to follow.

Today, SBC Fire participated at the Back to School event at the Resource Center in New Cuyama. Residents learned about CPR, Ready-Set-Go program, and more. Some kids got a free haircut from hairstylists. A special thanks to Station 27 for helping out at today’s event.
Due to large amount of smoke centrally in hospital, a 2nd engine was requested to aid in ventilation of the smoke to prevent intrusion into periphery. No fire was reported but crews noted molten metal and compromised insulation at the site. Call clear, hospital operations normal.
Vehicle over the side 8:13am HWY 166 3/4 mi E of Rockfront Ranch. 200’ over the side. 2 patients, 1 deceased, 1 critical. SBC Copter 3 airlifted pt to SBCH. HWY 166 closed in both directions. More info and pictures to follow.
Vegetation fire 10:54am. 3300 blk NTU Rd Casmalia. 5 acres potential for less than 10 acres. Moderate rate of spread in grass and oak trees. County, State and Federal units on scene. Cause under investigation. Updates to follow as available.

Vegetation fire 3:58pm 8300 blk Hollister Goleta. Approx 1/2 acre, slow rate of spread, minimal wind. Light brush spreading in to eucalyptus trees. More info and pics to follow as available. Multiple SB Co FD units on scene.
Structure Fire: 6500 BLK of Segovia Rd, Isla Vista. An elderly man had a blanket over himself with a lit cigarette at his apt. The blanket caught fire and a small fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment complex.

We could see very low relative humidity of 5-15%, with little to no overnight recovery expected. It is in effect now today until 9 PM tonight. We could see a combination heat between the 90s to the triple digits. (2/2)

Tree fell into power lines hwy 246 W of Buellton. Tree fire began as power lines struck and downed, landing on civilian vehicle and run over by passing vehicle. 2 engines extinguished tree and spot fires on both sides of freeway. Edison on scene for repair. No injuries/structures

Plane Down 12:35pm HWY 246 A two seat single engine aircraft with one occupant was forced to land on Hwy 246 after experiencing engine failure. No injuries or damage reported. FAA notified.
