Introductions. Spike seems interested. No barks or chomps. Lot of licks.
Yes I’m sitting in the tub… seemed the safest place to isolate them since he won’t get in the tub unless forced.
Woke up to a lot of notifications. I’ve pulled the venmo link down because we should have more than enough covered for the vet. Thank you to everyone who chipped in. I think this kitten probably has a nice cat tree in its future.
Just got back from the vet. Dandruff was 1.31 lbs at her visit 4 weeks ago. Today she was 2.94 lbs which is listed as ideal body score.
Vet recommend spaying at 5-6 months old so that would be in about 2-3ish months.
She is negative for feline leukemia and negative for worms.
Vet appointment made for tomorrow afternoon. Dandruff has found a cozy spot to sleep in the bathroom. Spike is snuggling extra hard today. I work overnights (obviously, since that’s when they showed up) so I’m going to try and get some sleep.
Showering near a kitten update: Dandruff has decided it is not safe for me to shower without supervision. She perched on the tub to make sure I didn’t accidentally drown.
She fell in once but I blocked the shower head and she did not panic. Was able to return her to her perch
Vet appointment is later today. Not much to update on before that. Still super snuggly. Still lives in the bathroom. Pretty sure this picture was my first scolding for letting the food bowl be empty.
She is apparently around 6-7 weeks old. She has ear mites which we treated and she was also given dewormer. I was also given some basic cat raising info which was very helpful.
One last shot from another readjustment. They let me back in for this one. This is normally where Spike sleeps and Dandruff climbed over my face to get in the middle.
@andreaaskowitz
It’s so beautiful watching a printer become a mother. I’m sure she’ll love her babies whether they grow up to be inkjets, fax machines or all in one printer combos.
Family portrait update. It’s not her favorite thing, and she needs to grow into it quite a bit, but she allowed me to put her sweater on her. (This was the best picture because she wanted out.)
We picked up some toys and actual food and water bowls while we were out. Also got her some wet food and those gogurt looking treats that people keep talking about. But then I had to go into work. I’ll post pics of her setup tomorrow.
How exactly is it that a cat can move with so much elegance and grace, flowing like water, not even making a ripple in the sheets they run across, yet also land like they weigh 45lbs directly on your stomach?
Only to then float away on the gentle breeze again moments later.
Whoever recommend these little spring toys was right. Dandy loves them. Only problem, they fit under the gap in the door, so I’ll need to teach Spike to nose them back under.
Also her new cat cave seems to be a success!
I was given a stern talking to this morning when I went to let Dandy out of her room. I let her food bowl get completely empty. I accept full responsibility for this and hope to earn her forgiveness.
Her bowl has been refilled now. I hope this first step moves us closer to
Spike and Dandy are getting more comfortable being around each. Today they laid next to each other for a full 15 seconds before Spike got scared and had to hide under the covers. Side note, it takes me about 20 seconds to find, open the camera app, and take a picture…
So here’s
I’m told today is Ginger Cat Appreciation Day. If you do not have your own ginger cat to appreciate, you may appreciate Dandruff. Here is some ASMR of her being appreciatd presented for your appreciation.
Got some playtime videos this morning. Please ignore the kitty litter that is EVERYWHERE. She has developed this fun new game where she jumps in and out of her litter box. It is apparently a blast.
Just did a little over two hours of free roaming with both Spike and Dandruff. The last hour of which was all 3 of us on the bed. Spike stayed calm and laid down that whole time. Dandruff was still bouncing around the whole time but she wasn’t attacking or bothering Spike. One
I was never a Boy Scout, but I do think it’s important to always be prepared.
Meet Lamby’s cousins Lamby, & Lamby.
Just in case Lamby ever needs to go on vacation.
So Dandruff can definitely jump into the bathtub. She is also not a fan of showers and has a bit of an issue with getting out of a wet bathtub.
I believe that a lesson was learned today. We’ll see if it sticks.
Dandruff has invented a fun new game. She tries to grab the bottom of my foot whenever I take a step. She is very good at this game.
No accidents so far. I have taken to shuffling across the room.
No big breakthroughs on integrating the household today. The kids played lots of chase. Dandruff found a new spot to ambush from. She hides under the bed skirt and then can pop out at any spot around the bed as her target (Spike or my toes) appears. Please enjoy this video of her

Dandruff the Orange Ramsey, First of Her Name, Climber of Pants, Rider of Shoulders, Slayer of Punching Bags.
Dandy has claimed victory over her first punching bag. I’ve hung one of her previously vanquished foes in its place.
Dandy has recruited Lamby into her fight against the Wyrm. Lamby hasn’t seen much combat so Dandy is training her.
I was able to capture some footage of the training.

So eating a tuna sandwich is kinda hard now. Didn’t realize I’d need to constantly keep the plate moving, even though I was sharing.
I feel like I only had about 50% of the sandwich.
Spike got the part dandy stepped on and Dandy got all the tuna that fell out.
@SheenaLouiseF
Pretty sure Spike would disagree with that. I made it up a box to sleep on and gave it a bowl of water. If it sticks around until morning I guess I’ll have to find a home for it.
It is not very good at staying in the box…
Dandy is back to fighting her new nemesis we’ve dubbed the Wyrm.
Spike is watching on as moral support. He’s prepared to help, but hopes he isn’t needed.
Working a double tonight. So here’s some pictures of the kiddos saying goodbye for the first half.
Spike has his cartoons on and Dandy was trying to shove her face up my nose.
