We did a 12 mile ruck to a bivouac site in basic training FT Dix, NJ 1983. The DIs took the P38s out of the C-rat boxes so that could laugh while we try opening the cans. Once they did issue us our P38s, this is the very one I was given & I carried it through a 24 year career.

RIP Brother. Ray suffered a TBI from an auto accident after retiring. I saw him in the VA MH ward when I was there. I filed a congressional inquiry on his behalf when I was discharged. He was locked up in a MH ward by his spouse & not receiving treatment for the TBI.😞
