Oklahoma's incarceration rate from 1980 to present has increased by 585%. The crime rate from 1980 to 2016 (most recently reported by OSBI) increased by 5% (violent crimes). Why the disparity? One reason the rate of incarceration has exploded is because of the 85% crimes.
