At approximately 6PM today Swedish time, the love of my life, @DaRhedDol , passed away. Thank you everyone for your support and all who were able to be here virtually during the worst day of my life. 😭 I will never forget you. The most amazing person. I will always love you.

I waited until we had a better understanding of the situation before saying anything. Here it is: My wife @DaRhedDol developed an infection while we were in Sweden for NFC. Her pain was so bad we took her to the hospital and after some surgery and tests, she’s now in the ICU.

Looking into starting a Go Fund Me. My biggest issue is I want to know the medical/funeral costs. I’m afraid people will toss money to cover my expenses (which I have credit cards and savings to absorb) but when the real bill comes, I’ll be out of luck.

I was cautious/concerned/anxious about having dinner with @DaRhedDol ’s dad. I guess he is my FIL but I never fully felt that bond with him (unlike her mom who would scream happily “MY SON IN LAW!”). I also assumed it would be her brother and niece too but just him for dinner.

Just to clarify, the surgery was successful. They did another last night as well to help with the pressure. She’s on constant dialysis now. We’re now a week into this and the doctors are still trying to figure out what caused this and why it’s happening. It is that complex.

But afterwards I was happy we did it. It was still awkward but it reminded me that he’s another connection to Kiri and a part of her is always with him. Anytime I see him and talk to him, I get to see that small glimmer of her again. Talking with him reminded me of her 💜

Just been sitting here quietly with her for the last two hours. It’s be nice and quiet. The doctors are off discussing to give us an update and you almost don’t want one. You just want to hold on to this peace because for the moment everything seems stable.

I keep relating my grief to a Japanese shishi-odoshi. The feelings and thoughts fill the bamboo until it comes crashing down with a thunk. Never sure when you’re near your limit and about to break. Or when a flood fills it instantly and you break down.
