I am excited to announce that God did it! I recently resumed at the University of Oxford as an MSc in Law and Finance (MLF) candidate and an Alex Deno Foundation Scholar.
The first culture shock here at Oxford is the level of trust. Just getting used to the fact that I can leave my laptop in class and go out for an up to 20 minutes break. OAU has scarred me.
Hopefully, my last internship. It’s been a joy ride since my first. Intern, it pays! NOW, I’m open to those job offers. RT my employer may be on your TL.

- For context, the Oxford MLF course fees are £42k, this is a last resort call for help to raise the outstanding balance of £7k because of failed pledges (~£2k donated so far) Kindly donate and share 🙏🏽
I’m rather shocked that refusing to get a higher degree so that you are not too “over-educated” for your husband is still a thing in Nigeria. If you have to dim your light to "meet up" with your partner's self-esteem, then they are certainly not right for you.
So moving. Maybe fate and maybe providence. The young man could have taken a different route that day but went exactly where he needed to be for Tunde to find him. Hard to believe anything in life is random.
It’s my birthday today.
What a journey I’ve had.
A long way from where I want to be but must I say, a very long way from where I used to be.
Another year to live a life of impact!
Broke up with someone and a year later she called and made sure we made up and started dating again so that she could do the breaking up this time. I won’t lie when she broke up with me: it was like a movie. Lol. Men and women are sick in equal measure.

No one is safe as far as SARS is concerned. If you like, be a law professor, Barr/solicitor of the Supreme Court or an A-star law student, e fit be you. Three times, have I had an encounter with SARS/the NPF:
1. I was leading a team of law students to Uni of Ilorin from OAU.
10 THINGS I WISH I DID AS AN UNDERGRADUATE
1. I wish I sent all my law assignments (at least the well researched ones) from 100 through 500 level to my email for subsequent improvement for publication. By now, I’d have not less than 15 peer-reviewed academic articles.

Law is like entrepreneurship. You can wake up with N500 and go to bed with N5m.
All depends on the quality of your network, your work and just sheer providence.
Step 1: Learn to greet your neighbours.
Apparently, there are people who are allergic to fake jewellery. The allergic reaction occurs when their skin comes into contact with certain metals present in the jewellery e.g., the metal nickel in a fake gold necklace or earrings. It’s also known as contact dermatitis. And I

said you don’t have to bend, own your height and we’ll come and meet you there.

My 10 sage commandments for Nigerian undergraduates:
1. Get good grades; they'd ease your way
2. Be locally schooled but globally minded.
3. Don’t just attend conferences/seminars, be memorable
4. Join LinkedIn
5. Google “opportunities for African/Nigerian students” daily
What’s the rationale behind employers insisting candidates should not be older than 25? First, it should be competence over age. Second, in a country of ASUU and OAU strikes and thunders, employers shouldn’t be allowed to skew the system against some candidates. O wrong now.

You just have to give it to US court system. A motion was filed, heard and decided the same day.
That’s not even impressive. It was appealed, heard and decided that same day!
Lol. In my country, children inherit cases from their parents. Urgent matters are urgent for you only.
How many of you will like a free class on the stages of a deal/transaction — from term sheet negotiation to financial close? Thinking to enlist someone very experienced and clever to teach a class with me.
Breaking: NGO sues NYSC for violating corp menbers’ privacy by forcefully publishing and selling their personal data in a yearbook.
Can we all agree that the biggest violators of data privacy in Nigeria are government agencies?
I want to volunteer to draft this bill - to flesh out the details. If they refuse to pass it, we will continue lobbying. If nothing happens still, a deluge of young people should flood NASS election in 2023.

I still can’t get over the comment a senior lawyer made to a friend. Something along the lines of “N50,000 salary for an NYSC lawyer is just too much.”
Sir, B&I pays interns 50k.
The NBA should benchmark entry lawyers’ salary. If you can’t pay, simply don’t hire.

Law degree in the UK = 3 years
Law degree in OAU = 7 years
Gained admission in 2012.
Resumed in 2013.
Cumulative strikes = 1.5 years. Graduated in Feb, 2018.
Didn’t go to law school until Nov. 2018.
Finished up at the Law School in August, 2019.
First class but I don old
Ending this year single again. In 2024, we will prioritise efficiency - we will be passing summary judgments right after the first date - no time to waste.
How I love to speak to students particularly young girls. Itolo Senior Girls Grammar School.
I personally know someone who’s family. Very bright. Got pregnant at 17 and never really found her balance since. It’s been 20 years. Young girls deserve all the best advice.
Many people I know have never really been single. From one (rushed) relationship to another with a few breathers in between. I think as young people, we should live independently and free for a little bit, date yourself and experience freedom before committing to anything.
For a long time I thought great communication skills meant ability to speak good English.
It actually comprises confidence, empathy, volume and clarity, summarisation, audience-centrism, body language, feedback etc.
How to add structure to answering “can we meet you?” question in a job interview.
1. Name/education/grade
2. Why law, finance, consulting (whatever the role is) etc.?
3. What drives you
4. Relevant work experience
5. Why you are a great fit for the role.
Interview is over.
How to answer, “what is your salary expectation?” question:
I’d be happy to accept a competitive salary comparable to what other [e.g. tier 1 law firms] pay [level 1, 2 or 3 etc.] Associates.
From my research, that’s a figure between [e.g. 450 - 500k].
Adapt accordingly.
I wish I had a gap year. I’ve just been running since — Uni, law school, NYSC, full time employment. 2018 could’ve been my gap year but I spent it being a serial graduate intern. Sometimes, doing nothing can be good for you, when you spend it wisely - recalibrating.
Most times we don’t share the stories of how we sent 50 emails before we got just 1 reply. We mostly just amplify the 1 reply. The real motivation is telling others how you failed 49 times before you finally succeeded. Someone is losing their mind wondering how you never fail.
The easiest way to learn anything is to read about it, the easiest way to understand anything is to write on it, the best way to master a subject is to teach it.
More and more young lawyers and law students are abandoning litigation for corporate/commercial law practice. This is a thread to dispel the widely accepted fallacies that a career in corporate law is more rewarding that a career in disputes especially in this age.
First thing I do when I’m interested in a subject matter is put it in my bio, then set up a Google alert and then read up everything I can find while talking about it a lot. First you have to be, then do and then you become.
Can you believe one of 6 arrested at the Surulere protest is my brother? Number 2 on the list. Man was just telling me this morning. They were bailed out by Desmond Elliot. E fit really be anybody.
We have been able to secure the release of
1. Okara Nkem
2 Ayodeji Ayeni
3 Nduka Treasure
4 Adeola Adebayo
5 Adetifa Olanrewaju Samuel
The 6th detained person ADEMOLA OJABODU was transferred to Panti police station and all will be done to effect his release too.
Btw, there’s a difference between Legal Tech and Tech Law.
Legal Tech refers to the use of technology and software to provide legal services and support the legal industry. E.g. Law Pavilion is a Legal Tech company.
Degrees seem like an individual achievement but to simply call it that will be a half-truth. In my case, it took a village, literally. None of it would have been possible without the support of my mentors and sponsors. You rock! Here’s to paying it forward.
At 22 or any age whatsoever, this looks like a no-brainer to me but people’s priorities are truly different. The first reaction of someone who claims to love me should never be “it’s either me or the scholarship abroad”. That’s straight up a red flag.
Woke up to an email from a lady who got a fully-funded admission for an MSc abroad
Her 'boyfriend' told her to choose btn the admission & him
She seeks advice
I don't interfere in relationship issues but think it's unfair to put her in such a state
People have diff priorities
Learnt a long time ago as an NYSC lawyer, the magic is all in sitting down and studying, on your own, how it all works. Transactions at best teach you sequence and mastery of processes, but the technically sound ones, study. Excellent lawyers are 20% trained and 80% self taught.
