We’ve come a long way, y’all. Just last year, the Rangers had traded Joey Gallo to the Yankees. We were sad.
Now, more than a year later, the Rangers are armed with superstar players, a top-notch manager, a deep farm system and a hunger to win.
Take it all in!
Here’s a list of what Chris Young has done since arriving in Texas:
1. Top-10 farm system in MLB
2. Convinced Corey Seager AND Marcus Semien to sign here
3. Drafted Leiter, Rocker and Brock Porter
4. Made one of the best trades in TEX history (Gallo to NYY)
And he’s not done!
You’re a free agent and you see Bruce Bochy is the manager, you see star power on the roster (Seager, Semien, etc) and you see a front office that has made it public that they want to spend to win. And I haven’t even mentioned the depth of the farm system.
This is awesome.
5 years is a HUGE commitment but that’s what it was gonna take to land deGrom. And at $37 million a year, he sacrificed less AAV to take more length. WOW!!!
One more thing for tonight. If the Rangers take on the Astros, Houston will be facing a different Texas team than they faced on Labor Day. Texas did not have Josh Jung or Evan Carter in that series. Garcia was in cold slump and then got hurt. Eovaldi had just got off the IL
How cool is it that this video ends with a picture of a Texas Rangers celebration. Enjoy this last day of 2023. It has been a year we will never forget.
For everyone asking what’s next: don’t worry. More on the way.
Just enjoy this! The best pitcher in the world chose to sign with the Texas freakin Rangers. It’s a good day and a good weekend! 😅
Rangers are playing with house money this year. No real expectations, just go out there and win. Maybe shock some people. Tanking days are over. Future looks bright.
Let’s go!

How fitting that Smith is making his debut tonight with Glenn Otto on the mound. The Joey Gallo trade is unfolding beautifully before your eyes, y’all! 🙌🏼
The Texas Rangers will wake up on June 1 at 24-24, 2 GB of a playoff spot! With a win tomorrow, the team can be over .500 for the first time since 2019!

Yes, Jacob deGrom chose money. Of course he did.
He also chose to believe in CY and Bochy and everyone that’s building something special in the Rangers organization right now. And if you can’t wrap your head around it because all you see is 68 wins in 2022, that’s on you.
Bochy press conference was delightful. He wants to be here. You could hear it in his tone. And he praised CY’s ability to pitch him on why the Rangers were the right fit. If you can convince a manager of Bochy’s pedigree to come here, you can certainly persuade players.
So some perspective. The Rangers have faced the Guardians, Rays, Astros, Dodgers, and Padres. They finished this stretch 8-7. They started second half with a 2 game lead. They now enter the deadline having lost just 1 game on their lead. The schedule lightens up in August.
So far, Globe Life Field has been home to:
- The 2020 playoffs and World Series
- The first no-no in Padres history
- A Corey Kluber Yankees no-no
- Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run

Watching this Diamondbacks-Phillies game 7. If Arizona does win Texas Ranger fans will have to look past the 84 wins. They will not be an easy out. The speed, contact, and ability to score runs in a variety of ways will make them difficult to play.
BREAKING: Star shortstop Corey Seager and the Texas Rangers are in agreement on a 10-year, $325 million deal, sources familiar with the situation tell ESPN.
As I just reported on
@MLBNetwork
, should the CBA be agreed upon and ratified today, Opening Day would likely be April 7. Spring Training games would begin March 17 or 18, and free agency and the business of baseball would be open TONIGHT.
“If I was going to return to managing, it had to be the right situation. I strongly believe that to be the case with the Rangers and I can’t wait to get started.”
We see you, Rangers 👀 been busy of late, apologies for the lack of activity. But:
Marcus Semien is hitting .286 over his last 7 games
Martin Perez is pitching like a Cy Young candidate
Sam Huff and Jonah Heim!
The Rangers are… 3.5 GB of a playoff spot?!

The Texas Rangers season is not over yet!!!!! They will open up the World Series at home on Friday night. Unbelievable. The most unlikely World Series run in this franchise’s history.
Texas Rangers take game 1 in a shutout 4-0. First postseason shutout for the Texas Rangers since the legendary Derek Holland Game 4 start in the 2011 World Series. Jordan Montgomery was excellent over 7 innings, and the combo of Chapman/Leclerc closed it out.
Marcus Semien is hitting .317 with 6 homers and 13 RBI in his last 15 games. On Beltre’s jersey retirement anniversary, I’d say those are pretty Beltre-like numbers! 🔥
“And then I added a 5th year with a 6th year option. I made ‘em an offer he couldn’t refuse! And that’s how Jacob deGrom became a Texas Ranger, ladies.”
BREAKING: Right-hander Jacob deGrom has signed a five-year, $185 million contract with the Texas Rangers, sources tell ESPN. Physical is passed. Deal is done. Includes conditional sixth-year option that would take total deal to $222 million. Full no-trade clause. A massive haul.
There are reports going around that the Braves could be interested in dealing Max Fried to shed payroll in light of trying to sign Sean Murphy to an extension…
Rangers fans, would you want to trade for Fried if he’s indeed available?
Texas Rangers take game 1 and hand Verlander his first game 1 loss in his career. Texas has now won 6 in a row with 5 of those wins on the road. Texas comes back tomorrow with Eovaldi trying to take a 2-0 lead.
The Texas Rangers have made the following selections in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the 2022 MLB Draft:
Round 2: Marcus Semien
Round 3: Corey Seager
The two players are expected to command over $500 million in salary but are seen as franchise players going forward. Thoughts?
It is over. The Texas Rangers win 7-1 and advance to their first ALCS since 2011. They advance to the ALCS in Bochy’s first season. They will be playing either Houston or Minnesota for a shot to get to the World Series. Just wow!!!! Let’s go.
This will essentially be a 2 man draft class with Rocker and Porter since the rest of the slot $ will be used on the latter. But what a class indeed. 2 high upside arms. But the Porter pick is what will make this draft for me. Outstanding work.
Verlander 2 years, $86 million at 40
deGrom 5 years, $185 million at 34
Without injury context (which obviously exists, but we’re looking at this in a vacuum) tell me which deal you’d rather have. Seems pretty obvious to me.
Serious question, but if Garver has to go on the IL, do they call up Langford. I would have thought no chance. He just continues to dominate at every level.
The Mets have made preliminary contact with Jacob deGrom's camp.
New York wants him back, but would be hesitant to offer 4 years if another team offered 4 years at a very high number (via
@martinonyc
)
There is less than 24 hours to the deadline. The one move I am warchung for is Texas bringing back Clase. Getting Clase would give Texas a legit playoff bullpen. They have the ability to make that trade. Is Chris Young able to get it done before the deadline?
Ladies and Gentlemen we will see you tomorrow night. 12 years after Joe Buck uttered that phrase in another game 6. This time it is Texas who wins to force a game 7. World Series on the line on Monday night. Can’t wait.
