artists (esp younger artists): if you need to hear it again, there's nothing wrong with taking breaks. 'draw everyday' mentality can and will usually lead to burnout. know your limits - get 8 hours of sleep, stretch often, get up from your chair. its not a race. your health > art

Don't feel pressured to post every piece of art you do online. The pressure of making it 'presentation-worthy' can prevent you from drawing spontaneously, or make you think it has to be perfect. Sometimes you can just draw for yourself, like a younger you did.

here's a reminder that if you are an artist you do not have to draw everyday. Do not push yourself to burning out. Take breaks. Like everything else if you push yourself too hard it can affect both your mental and physical health. You only have one body. Take care of yourselves.

art teachers that showed compassion and empathy helped me learn and grow as an artist far more than any teachers that focused on being tough and 'breaking students to make them stronger'. imo there's a way of critique that doesn't include wanting to 'weed out weak artists'

tip for artists: have a hobby outside of the kind of art you do, but it can still be related to art. embroidery, wood-carving, needlefelting, etc. crafts you can do with your hands. something new that you can't judge yourself on too harshly, because you're still learning.

i think the most eye-opening thing I realized upon becoming a concept artist full time vs time in college is that concept art isn't just about painting really highly rendered pics. a lot of the time it's slapdashed together, cut out textures put through filters. it's 'ugly'

This should be obvious, but reference isn't cheating. Tracing over poses isn't cheating. Frakensteining poses in order to make newer poses isn't cheating. The only time it becomes a problem is when you take someone else's art, trace over it, and say it's your own.
