Idea! When an app asks for permissions, the OS should let you pick any category and let you select "feed the app fake data". Instead of your actual contacts, app gets a fake contact list. Instead of microphone audio, it gets a feed of silence or quiet noise.

Random fact that programmers know, but other people may not: A lot of the work is purely in the brain. I'm about to implement a complicated thing, and I've thought about it for a full day and not written a line of code - and that counts as work.

Anyone knows why "GUI elements being moved while you try to click stuff, so you accidentally click something else instead" is such a big problem now? I really don't remember this being such a widespread problem a bunch of years ago.

Tell me a tiny detail in a game you're very proud of! In Affordable Space Adventures, at one point, a shockwave is so strong it cracks the Wii U GamePad (which in the fiction of the game is the ship's computer). The crack is permanent and stays for the rest of the campaign.

For visual clarity, in Ynglet when you aim a dash through a bouncer, the game punches a hole through the surface. This was quite tricky to do technically, but without it some playtesters wouldn't expect the dash to go through the surface.

I shall now tell you the truth about game engines. 1: Engines don't matter. It's not the engine that makes a game, it's the dev that does. 2: Engines do matter. They're very different and one may be a much better fit for your game & team than another.

I didn't want falling down to feel like "losing" in Ynglet. So, you fall right into your last checkpoint (and you can create new ones almost anywhere by not moving for two seconds). This level is based on Christiania in Copenhagen.

Let's face it. If you don't, the player will use guides to find the last items, and odds are those guides will be frustrating to try to follow, and the player will constantly have to cross check which ones they found already against the guide. You can make it more fun than that!

Possibly controversial opinion: The world needs more FPS games for game with heavy auto-aiming (just vaguely pointing in the right direction should hit the enemy). Compensate by making it fast placed, platformy and lots to keep track of. Aiming skills isn't that interesting.

@FreyaHolmer Yeah! I wonder tho, even if we got a viable replacement for the software, are we in a place where we could build the communities to play & share that type of thing? Like, the flash websites are mostly gone or declined now, and the internet is less about websites these days.

While it's cool from a tech point of view, it's so important to know this isn't restoration, this is synthesis. You don't get the old information back, that's impossible. You generate new information to fill in the gaps. In other words, for the love of god, don't use in courts.

“Computer, enhance!” is now reality! SR3 takes a low-res image (64x64) & progressively adds noise until only pure noise remains. It then learns to reverse this process, removing noise to create a 1024x1024 image.
